Max chuckled. "It sure seems like it…" he teased, but added, "Calm down, Dove."
Max chuckled. "It sure seems like it…" he teased, but added, "Calm down, Dove."
Dove couldn't afford Tessa to find out her secret it would kill her she was breathing heavily the cafe was spinning she fumbled for her inhailer but it was gone she blinked trying to calm down but it wasn't working.
Max scrunched up his face in concern. "What's wrong Dove?" he looked to Tessa. "Why-what's she doing?"
"She's having an Asmath attack" Tessa said. Dove kept breathing heavily and the cafe was spinning and now a wierd noise was coming out of her throat.
"Is-is there anything we can do to help? Or take her to the nurse?" Max asked. He didn't want to live the rest of his life knowing he could've done something to help someone but didn't do anything.
"She needs an inhailer" Tessa said. Dove's eyes flickekered before she fell back passed out.
"Yeah? Well she very well can't use one now, can she?" Max replied, not in an unkind way.
"It's not my fault she's Ill" Tessa snapped.
Max sighed and ran a hand through his unruly hair. "Look, all I'm saying is maybe we should just take her to the nurse." he hated it when Tessa got like this.
"Well I can't Freaking pick her up Maybe she's dead" Tessa said.
Max couldn't believe the stupidity of this conversation they were having. Maybe it was something he said? No, it had to be something he said. "Look, I'm sorry Tess, alright? You know I love you…"
"No you don't I've seen how flustered you get around her how you look at her" Tessa said.
In his best attempt to get out of this situation he just told Tessa, "I'm going to get the nurse, okay? Stay here," and walked away to the nurse's office.
Tessa rolled her eyes in annoyance and looked down at her friend lying on the floor.
A few minutes later, Max came back with the nurse. "What happened?" the nurse, Lily, asked kindly. Though she was over 50 years old already, going on 60, her face covered in wrinkles, and glasses to top it all off, Lily still worked here, doing her job diligently.
"He had an attack" Tessa said rudley/
"Ah," Lily replied, giving Dove a quick glance over. "Do you know your friend's full name? Perhaps a number I can call? Asthma attack, am I right?"
"Yes Ma'am Dove Harbor" Tessa said.
Lily gave Tessa a quick nod of acknowledgement and said mostly to herself, "I'll look up her file later…" and rubbed her forehead, unsure of what to do. In all her 30 years she had worked here, she had never had this happen before.
Max just stared in the general direction of the ceiling, spaced out.
Dove flickered her eyes open and noticed her lip was bleeding . She groanied in pain. she tried to sit up but was too dizzy and fwll back down.
In a stern voice, Lily told Dove, "Don't move," and ran off. A split second later she came back with some gauze and medical tape and some antibiotic cream, and gently tended to Dove's lip.
Max jumped slightly at Lily's voice, but then relaxed as soon as he realized it was just Lily. His thoughts were churning inside him, but he put on a calm facade.
"Thank you Max " Dove said with a small smile.
Max blinked at Dove. She was thanking him? "For what?" he asked.
"That could've been life or death" she said.
"Uhm, it's no big deal, really…" Max replied.
