Okay, here's the thing. Don't tell everybody now, but I might- Abby blinked pooling tears from her eyes before typing the end of the sentence -lose my job.

oh Abby. Why? she was now on edge and sat sort of tense in her seat
School board. I'll explain later. Please don't tell anyone, I don't want to worry them, and I- Abby thought about what she was going to say, then deleted it, sending the message ending with them.
i wont. but you best explain later, id rather not be confused. anything else? she sent the message and laid her phone in her lap and sipped her coffee, relaxing back into her seat.
Aaron looked over at Veda for a moment, then looked away as Veda glanced at him. "What?" Veda asked.
"It's nothing."
"Aaron……I know it's nothing."
"Veda, it's–complicated."
"Complicated? Like how?" Veda could feel the tension in the air, but ignored it. "Aaron, we've been friends since we were five. You were on the island with me. What is it?"
"I…………….really don't think we should discuss this right now." Veda gave an exasperated sigh and fell back onto the couch again. "Fine. Don't talk to me then."
(are Veda and Aaron in the living room?)
(are Veda and Aaron in the living room?)
(Yup, which is only separated from the kitchen by a counter/half wall/table….you get what I mean, right?)
Vivian did not like the current vibes in the room. She also did not like being in front of total strangers in her crumpled pajamas and messy hair. She did not appreciate her growling stomach as well. Taking a bite out of her apple, she attempted to calm her nerves.
(yea i have one in my dads house thats similar)
Kendra decided to speak up at this point. "Island? What island Veda? Also its nice to meet you Aaron." she smiled in Aarons direction and then looked questioningly towards Veda.
i wont. but you best explain later, id rather not be confused. anything else? she sent the message and laid her phone in her lap and sipped her coffee, relaxing back into her seat.
Cal got in a fight. I was called to the principal's office to get him, and he still hasn't told me why he did it. Send. She thought for a second, then typed a quick follow up. Btw, I'm sorry for dumping all of this on you. I have a lot on my plate right now.
Kendra glanced down at her phone and quickly started typing. of course, hes the youngest. he needs his spotlight too. you're okay, but whenever you get it straightened out come home. we have visitors. I'll talk to Cal too. i used to do this too, i know where hes coming from.
Veda opened her mouth, but Aaron cut her off. "Nice to meet you too. As for the island, it's a seven year long story, that we don't have time for." Veda grabbed Aaron's hand and pushed it off of her mouth. "Thanks Aaron." Veda said sarcastically.
Visitors? Who?
Kendra set her phone down on the table, and then laughed. they were so close, Kendra felt like she hardly knew Veda. "Well i have all the time in the world, except for when im sleepinhg or at work, but the point is i have time. we can save it for later."
Kendra picked up her phone again. someone named Aaron. Veda knows him. im not really sure. just get here as soon as you can. she slid her phone back on the table and sipped her coffee
Abby pulled out her phone and quickly read Veda's text. Her stress was 4 times the max level. She texted back: I'm working on it. and put her phone away. She massaged her temples. "What were you thinking, Cal? This is the last thing that I need right now…"
"You have no idea how hard school is for me," Cal muttered, shaking his head faintly as he felt a twinge of pain for making Abby even more stressed. "Kids make fun of me for having a prosthetic, and today…" He trailed off and left it at there, shrugging a bit as he tapped his foot on the ground out of habit.
"So, are we starting this meeting as soon as Abby and Cal come home?"
I'll try. I have to plan practice with my assistant coaches, still. And get Cal to tell me why today had to be the day that he picked a fight in school… Abby sighed and focused her gaze intently on Cal. "So, what have you got to say for yourself?"
"i would assume so" she started typing. * i can deal with Cal if you want me to, so you can get your other stuff done*
No, it's my responsibility, Abby quickly sent.
okay, whatever you say she clicked off her phone and set it on the table. "anybody want coffee or something else?" she wanted to make herself feel useful
She shut her eyes. "Can I have some apple juice?"
Abby skimmed Kendra's response but didn't reply. "Cal, what was so important about this that you had to get into a fight?"
"Sure" Kendra stood and got a cup, filling it with apple juice from the fridge. She set it on the table and stood with both hands on the edge of the table.
(And now I must wait…)
