"Oh. Huh." Was all Jonathan could manage. He stood up suddenly, pointing a wobbly finger in the direction of somewhere vaguely in the back of the cafe. He was slowly pulling out his phone.
"Neat. Cool. Awesome. I'mgonnamakeacallrealquickbye-" he said all in one breath, speed walking backwards, quickly opening his phone. He pulled up one of his friends numbers, dialed, then waited anxiously, his leg bouncing. They didn't pick up. Okay. No problem, he was probably with his girlfriend! How about Megan? Again, no answer. Kalee? Nope. Michael? Please- Michael didn't pick up his phone at the best of times.
John sighed, head lowering in defeat for a second. Instead he called an Uber that would be willing to come out to this back road place and returned to the booth, slumping slightly.
"I called us a ride, anything else you wanted to eat before we go?" He stared at the problem in front of him, but he guessed it was his problem now. Better at least make sure she was well fed.
