He snapped his head to her. "You wouldn't dare drop Jack."
He snapped his head to her. "You wouldn't dare drop Jack."
"Pft," she hissed. "You named it Jack?" She bit her lip heavily to keep the laughter contained.
"I- uh- I mean," he stumbled over his words. "No. I didn't."
"Yes, you did. You just said it," Katie accused jokingly, not able to keep the laughter out of her voice for much longer.
"I -um." He had named it Jack. It seemed like a Jack. "Fine. Yes. I'm going to school now." He turned around and continued walking, feeling his cheeks heat up.
Colour drained from her face. Did she insult him? She ran to catch up again. "Sorry," she apologized softly.
A lock of his hair had fallen on his face. He brushed it out of the way. "Oh, I'm not angry." He looked to her. "Jack is."
She blinked. "Uh… I can't tell if you're being serious or not…"
"I am." He wasn't. He just loved to mess around with Katie and he had the poker face to do so.
"Uhm…" Katie squirmed a bit, still holding the jacket out to him.
Axl broke out into laughter. "No, I'm just joking." He pushed the Jack the jacket back to her. "Please."
"Gosh, just take the jacket, Axl!" she exclaimed, thrusting the jacket into his arms. "We're almost at school anyway."
Axl scoffed. "Fine." He took it and rolled his eyes. "So much for me being a good person."
"You hate the cold. You've told me on multiple occasions. I can see that you're already freezing," she commented.
"And you're shivering." He didn't put the jacket on, he wanted to prove his point. She was right though, his cheeks felt the wind and were almost a block of ice. No matter how hard he tried to hide them, goosebumps covered his skin.
"Put… Jack… on…" she ordered slowly.
"No." The cold was starting to seep through his jeans, but then again, that made sense. They had rips. Idiot. He adjusted his beanie.
Katie crossed her arms. "Must I take extreme measures?"
Axl turned his head a little then remembered his pride, turning it back. "And what would that be?"
"You don't want to know," Katie answered. She hoped he couldn't disguise the empty threat her words held.
"There's hesitation in your vo~ice!" He said in a sing-song voice. Lies from her rarely got past him.
Katie frowned, then sighed. "Just take the jacket would you?"
