"Oh my gosh…what is all this?" Kim asked, looking at all the vials and books covered in weird symbols on the shelves. She did see the coffin of course, but was also interested in everything else, the curious girl that she was. She picked up a big black book with a strange golden symbol on the front, off of a podium next to the coffin, the title written in a very familiar language. "Japanese…" She murmured.
"Calling it now, it's a cult. I've seen enough Buzzfeed Unsolved to know this is a cult." Adie called out, not really believing it himself so ya now, making jokes is better than understanding shit.
"Guys, shush!" She told them as she looked down to their parents now drinking things in intricately designed silver goblets. Their parents obviously couldn't hear them because if they did they would be looking up. But… how? She walked around the inner balcony and leaned her head over to see what more was down there. She was blocked by some sort of clear force field that glowed wherever she put pressure on it. "Guys, check this out."
“What the hell is that?” Charlise demanded, her heart pounding. She walked up next to Azalea and copied her, putting her hand on the forcefield.
"Whoa." Kim said, pushing against the forcefield. "It's not scientifically possible. I know I'm not a scientist, but the only thing that makes sense now is that it's magic."
"It can't be," Azalea said as she tried to push through the force field. She looked down below to see what their parents were doing and saw that they all started placing their hands on the glowing coffin as if it were some type of ritual. "I don't understand how you guys aren't freaking out. You're parents are literally down there doing cult stuff in my house."
"Should we go down there or learn more about what's going on?" She asked, looking at Azalea.
"We can't." Azalea said pointing to the field which blocked their parents from seeing them and hearing them. "Also, what would happen if they knew we were up here?" Azalea asked, dreading what would happen.
"Didn't think of that. My mom would probably ground me for at least a year." Kim said, thinking about how strict her mom had become after her dad left.
"Hold on." Carmen said, taking out her phone. She stood on her toes, taking a picture.
Only the realize she had the flash on. "Shit…"
The adults looked up, nearly catching a glimpse of Kim. For a moment she thought her mother had when her green eyes narrowed. She turned and spoke to the others, standing. The rest of them stood and they headed for the door. "They're coming!" Kim glanced around, hoping to find another exit.
"You all, run!" She hissed, gently shoving the nearest person. "I'll take the fall!"
"No way. We're all leaving." She stated, spotting a vent in the wall. She rushed over and pulled on the grate. "Come…on…stupid…thing!"
Adie kicked the grate in for her, pushing her in and beckoning for the others. "Come on. I know how to fight, I'll cover until everyone gets in!" He hissed, pushing in the next person.
Charlise stumbled as Adie pushed her, annoyed. “I can help too!” she complained.
"No, just get in!" He growled, glaring at the others and raising his eyebrows. "We can be shocked that are parents are probably cultists later."
Charlise glared at him for a moment stubbornly, before pressing her lips together and ducking down into the grate with a sigh. “Fine.” It would be safer for all of them if she would just comply and be quick, so she did. Besides, her mind was reeling already, she didn’t need to add to it by also being stubborn.
Kim grabbed Adie and pulled him into the vent with her, surprised that she had the strength to do so, and moved the grate back in front of the opening. "Sorry Adie, but I don't think it would end well if one of us started fighting our parents."
"Fight?" Azalea breathed out after crawling into the vent. "Those are full-grown adults, that's like running into a war with only a broken dull sword." She said before following the group out. They definitely had to get out of there and she was glad when Kim pulled him along inside.
Kim crawled through the vent, glancing back multiple times to make sure their parents hadn't followed them. She relaxed only when they re-entered the library from the shelf.
(Time to instigate stuff)
As they crawled through, the finally reached another vent opening. Azalea peered through to see that it was her room and charged towards the vent cover. As it turned out, the vent wasn't secured tightly so the second she touched it, it fell off. Since she had charged though, it took her with it. She landed on her back from the short fall before getting up and dusting herself off.
Kim heard Azalea fall, but couldn't see her given she was at the back of the group. She squeezed around the others and looked down. "Azalea, you okay?"
Adie hopped out of the vent, giving a hand to the others. "This is a shit show in the making. Do we go to the police so they don't belive us and call our parents? Or… Do we go to the extreme and run away?"
Kim thought for a moment. On the one hand, running away meant she wouldn't have to deal with her mom forcing her into things anymore, and then having to lie about it so no one would know. On the other hand, there wouldn't be anywhere to go, unless she stayed with her friends, which she was bound to do.
