"Well next time take a guard or me or something." He grunted. "You know I always have free time."
"Well next time take a guard or me or something." He grunted. "You know I always have free time."
"Yes, well, any of those options would have made sure I didn't come near these woods," Rose argued. "And I wanted to see what was in them."
(I AM STILL HERE JUST WAS TALKING TO THE GRANDPARENTS YOU KNOW HOW IT IS)
(YEAH, IT GET THAT.)
"Trees. More Trees. Underbrush. Way too much underbrush. Wolves obviously. Squirrels. Surprise creek. Trees. Did I mention underbrush?" Gerard listed.
"You know that's not what I meant, Gerard," Rose huffed in annoyance. She stuck her shaking hands behind her back, hoping that he didn't notice. "Can we just go back home, now?"
"Yeah. You're scared anyway. I bet you won't come back." Gerard offered her his arm.
(Gerard. 100% chill and done with life)
Rose glared at him for a moment before taking his proffered arm, willing her hands to just. Stop. Shaking.
"Yeah, whatever," she mumbled.
"Calm down I won't let anything get you." he sighed. "I also can't get lost in here."
"I can't help it," Rose snapped. "Okay? I have no idea what's wrong with me. I was perfectly fine until those wolves showed up…"
"Well they are wolves. They tend to have that effect." He stated. "You were also totally unprepared which probably won't happen next time if there is one."
Rose bit her lip, looking off to her right and away from the hunter.
"Yeah, okay. Right. I was unprepared. Next time I will be prepared," she murmured to herself under her breath.
"And y'know. I'm here if you need me. I have nothing else to do but save princesses from packs of wolves. It's my favorite thing."
"Whatever," Rose chuckled, elbowing him gently. "You totally have more important things to do. Like, ya know, feeding everyone…"
"True. But friendship comes first. Well…" He counted on his fingers. "Actually fourth. Behind food, books, and weapons."
Rose laughed. "Okay, that's true. Those are all very important. But I'm not so sure if my father would appreciate you saying that books and weapons are more important than me and doing your job," she joked.
"Well. I don't really care what he thinks." He said.
"Oh, really?" Rose's eyebrows lifted slightly, and she struggled to keep the smile off of her face. "Then you won't mind if I tell him?"
He paused. "Please don't. I don't wanna have to put you on my list."
"Hm… Well, if you put it that way…" Rose rolled her eyes teasingly. "What did you catch today?"
"Four deer, seven squirrels, six rabbits, two geese, and this one guy who kept shooting at me from behind a tree. I wonder what was up with that?"
Rose pulled away slightly to gape at Gerard. "Are you being serious? You caught that much already?" she questioned incredulously. "Gracious, no wonder you're my father's favorite."
"Wrong. You're your father's favorite. Either that or the queen." He replied. "And yes I did catch that much. Why would I lie to you?"
"You know what I meant. You're my father's favorite hunter," Rose said, shaking her head. "And it's just… That's a lot, Gerard! Do you know how happy my father will be when he sees?"
