“Yes, it seems so,” Infinitus squinted, reading the words printed below. “Vyzene…” There was a asterisk beside the name, so he went to the starred definition. “The Holy City of the Gods?”
“Yes, it seems so,” Infinitus squinted, reading the words printed below. “Vyzene…” There was a asterisk beside the name, so he went to the starred definition. “The Holy City of the Gods?”
Vanitate looked around at the ruins, then shook her head. “Some holy city. Which way do you think we should be going?”
“It says we should head… that way,” Infinitus turned and pointed northwest, where there was a path leading out of the ruins. Who knows what we’ll find out there?
Vanitate glanced around, as if committing the place to memory. In reality, she was double checking to make sure they didn’t leave anything behind. But… despite being born twenty minutes ago, it already felt like leaving home. “Alright,” she said, turning to Infinitus. “Lead the way, Infi.”
Infinitus saluted, grinning at the nickname. “You got it, V,” Turning around, he headed out of the central ruin, checking if the others were following. Whoever was here last sure made a mess of the place.
Vanitate fell into step behind him, moving slowly but keeping up. It had looked like a long way, and she wondered how long it would take. She mentioned it to Infinitus, also asking what he thought they would find there.
Mortem cartwheeled along behind them, listening to the conversation. "What's a holy city supposed to do?" She wondered , rather louder than she meant to.
"Be holy. House the gods. I don't know," Vanitate said. Mortem was starting to get on her nerves.
"Okay, then, smarty-pants," she said in a proper British accent, rolling her eyes and starting to walk like a normal human being. "You're just so very helpful. Now I know exactly what's going on, thank you for all your service."
“It seems that’ll it be more than a couple days, that’s for sure,” Infinitus laughed softly. “And hopefully we’ll find something or someone that’ll give us a clue on who we are.” The feeling of not knowing who you are threw him off. It was unsettling, and he did not like it at all.
"I'm not so sure we need to find out, do we? We're us, and we don't need more than that, I'd think." said Imperium.
“Don’t you feel weird about not knowing who you are?” Vanitate asked. She shook her head. “It has to matter. We wouldn’t show up like this if it weren’t for a reason. I’m sure of it.”
"I already know who I am, silly! I'm Imperium!" they giggled slightly.
“I don’t think knowing our names is enough. I feel like there’s a purpose of us being here,” Infinitus shook his head, laughing quietly. “I don’t know, maybe I’m crazy.”
"No, I don't think you are. There's got to be something more to a person than a name," Vanitate said quietly. She walked slowly and deliberately, as if she expected something to jump out from around a tree.
(bump)
(Idk what to dooo)
//sunflowers, maybe some kind of a plot point could be introduced?
(yeah i was waiting til our characters were introduced a bit more, but i’ll slap a plot point down)
They had been walking for hours, and it was almost dusk. They had passed more ruins, resembling a city, and unfortunately, some bones too. There were some that were obviously human, but then there were ones with wings almost, or extra arms or legs, and maybe some horns? It was a weird acid trip that was all too real.
They had just hiked up a mountainous part of the forest when they came across a cave. Not surprising for how deep they were in the forest, but a blessing nonetheless. Infinitus led the group silently towards the entrance of the cave when a gravely voice called out.
“So it seems the gods have returned…”
(the person speaking is like an ancient witch who can potentially help them on their journey. if they’re nice = help from the witch. if not, then they basically have to battle her. please don’t let this info affect your character’s actions!)
"Hello? Who are you?" asked Imperium, jumping a little in surprise and possibly fear.
"Gods?" Vanitate murmured quietly. Her eyes narrowed, subtle movements stilling. Something about this situation was suspicious to her, and she didn't feel like it was worth the risk to find out why.
"Gods? Returned? Where?" Mortem asked, looking around wildly. After a moment, she stopped, tilting her head. "Wait - are you talking about us?" She pointed to herself, then gestured wildly at the group. "Cause… most of these idiots are just depressed jerkwads." She smiled at herself. "My insults and I are on FIRE today."
Infinitus backed up slowly, but kept in front of the group. They might be dumbasses, but they were all Infinitus had, and the witch could go to hell if she thought she was going to take them away from him. “Us? Gods?” he questioned, an eyebrow quirked
The witch smiled, showing of rows of yellow sharp teeth, creeping slowly towards the group. “Why, you should know who I am…It’s only been 2,000 years or so til we last met?” a scraggly laugh escapes her throat, sending a chill down Infinitus’ spine. She then pointed a crooked finger at Mortem, a weird smile on her face. “Mortem, my dear, you cannot hide behind that mask of yours and run away from your emotions forever… We’ve gone over this.”
Mortem sputtered. "Bitc - ok, first of all, what? I'm not wearing a mask," she pulled at her eyebrows, "see? No mask. And I'm not hiding my emotions. I'm just HAPPY. Because you know what's great? Being dead. I mean, I'm not dead, but a lot of people are, and BOY, lemme tell ya, it's a riot down there, an absolute party," she said, staring at the ground before glancing back up at the witch and putting her hands in her hips. "You're weird," she scoffed, muttering something along the lines of, "hidden emotions, your sunburnt ass."
