In the middle of the night, Drew gets a sudden urge to get off his ass and try and find his family. He weakly stands, shaking violently and bleeding excessively. He stumbles down the side of the street until he realizes that he's standing in front of the Library that he's been looking so long for. He rings the doorbell and Bridget answers.
"Hey, love… Long time.. no see…" He mutters right before he falls to the ground, passed out.
(Someone help me. I'm babysitting my 3 year old sister and she doesn't want to watch anything else but Barbie movies and TV shows.)
Jay looked up at Drew's voice, jumping up and running to the door. "Drew? Oh my god! I thought you were dead!" He hugged Drew tightly, breathing heavily.
(THANK YOU I THOUGHT NO ONE WAS GOING TO REPLY TONIGHT AND I GOT SAD)
(I mean… ahem not that I was… erm… waiting around and pressing refresh on the page or anything… ahem ahem)
(Lol)
Drew is slightly conscious and feels Jay hug him. He weakly wraps his arms around the kid.
"Hey, kiddo…" He winced, the floor causing his bloody back to burn. "How ya doin'?"
"Miss Bridgett and I were just… well… it's nothing." Jay looked up at Drew, tear tracks still littered across his face. "Where have you been?"
His breathing is getting more and more labored as he's losing more and more blood. He uses a lot of his strength struggling to sit up, leaving a patch of dark blood on the ground where his back was previously. He looks at the young boy sitting across from him and gently wipes the tear stains off of his cheeks, remembering how much he really loves this kid. He tries his hardest to make Jay think he's alright. That nothing's wrong. That he doesn't most likely have death fastly approaching. "It's a long story, Jay… But, it doesn't matter now… I'm here and that's what matters…" He smiles weakly.
"Here… come with me. You should really lay down. You don't look well." Jay helped Drew stand up and led him to the couch, running off after doing so. He soon returned with a two mugs of hot cocoa, one of which he held out to Drew and the other he drank himself. "Cocoa always makes me feel better, so I thought it might help…"
(aw he's such an adorable bean)
He stumbled onto the couch, too weak to try and get back on the floor so he doesn't stain it. When Jay returns with a cup of cocoa he can't help but smile naturally at the boy's naive, innocent, adorable nature. He takes the cup and forces a sip of it to his dry lips to try and appease Jay.
Jay sat down on the floor, sipping his cocoa. "Do you wanna read something? I mean, I would read to you if I knew how, but given the circumstances…" He fell silent, drinking the hot chocolate again so he wouldn't have to continue.
"Sure, kiddo…" He smiled. He then was thrust into a violent coughing fit. He feels blood rising in his throat, but he chokes it back. He doesn't want Jay to see the full extent of his brokenness right now.
"You okay?" Jay fetched Peter Pan and set it on the table beside Drew. "This one's called P… P-Peter, Pan." He read out the title, grabbing his cocoa again.
"That's good… you read that well.." He muttered, out of breath. "I think… I think you should… keep trying… you're doing… you're doing great……" He's feeling him start to pass out. "I'm… I'm just going to go to sleep…. I'm sorry… You should probably… probably get Bridgett…" He passed out, blood leaving a streak on the couch as he fell to his side.
(Fun Fact: Peter Pan is my favorite child's story.)
"Drew?" Jay shook him gently. "Drew?! No, no, no, no, no… Bridgett!" He started panicking, his breath quickening and tears coming to his eyes. "Bridgett!! Drew, please wake up… don't die… don't die…"
(He can't wake up rn but omg I feel so bad. When Drew wakes up he's going to give Jay the biggest goddamn hug.*
