He gulps softly and feels the scars on the joints of his wings. "I did it to myself." he says quietly. "I didn't want them. I still don't but… no matter how hard I try or anyone else, they stay there. A constant reminder that I was thrown from heaven." he mutters sourly.
So Halo did that to himself? That was a sad thought, considering he thought that they were nice looking. “Thrown from Heaven? I couldn’t imagine that you would do anything to result in that,” he said.
"It was because of my sexuality." He mutters, his eyes narrowing. He sighs and shakes his head. He looks towards the ground and places a pillow back in its place. He hums a little before looking at the other, "No big deal though." he mutters softly.
“Your sexuality?” Thatcher questioned. He was half asking what Halo’s sexuality was, and half questioning why that would be a good reason to throw someone out of Heaven.
Halo chuckles wryly and nods, shaking his head as he begins to gather ingredients to make breakfast. He walks out into the back and grabs a few herbs before returning inside. "Yes, my sexuality. I preferred men over women, and since that is frowned upon in heaven, they threw me out." he says, warming a pan up to make an omelet. "Would you like something to eat?" he asks, a forced lightness to his tone.
“That’s strange- I don’t see why that sort of thing could make someone angry,” Thatcher said, frowning as he spoke. At least me now knew that Halo was in fact in to men. “No thank you, I’m fine,” he answered after a moment.
He shrugs, "I went to court and stuff, but. They threw me out." Halo hums and nods, "You sure? I don't want you starving on me." He says kindly. Glitch trots into the kitchen, gently pawing Thatchers leg. He whines, signalling he wants to be picked up. Halo laughs a little.
“I am sure, food is not a necessity for my body,” Thatcher said. He had actually flinched very slightly when the dog, Glitch, nudged at his leg. He frowned for a moment before hesitantly bending over and scooping the small dog up.
Glitch barks happily and nuzzles into Thatchers arms. Halo laughs a little. "He likes you." He says softly, brushing some hair from his face as he watches the interaction.
Thatcher pats and strokes Glitch’s head carefully, glancing from the dog then to Halo. “I suppose so,” he said, petting Glitch for a moment longer before setting the dog down.
Glitch barks and trots to his masters side, waiting for food to be dropped. Every once and a while Halo gently drops a piece of meat for his dog. He hums softly, swaying his hips as he does so.
Thatcher lingered near a counter, bending over so he could lean against it. His eyes glanced to the subtle movement of Halo’s hips, and he clenched his jaw as he forced his eyes to stare elsewhere. He was getting ahead of himself with that sort of thing. He was technically something like a slave at the moment, he shouldn’t be enjoying himself.
Halo hums softly and looks down at Glitch, "Go on now, shoo." he says softly, waving Glitch away. He whines before walking outside. Halo chuckles a little as he continues to make breakfast. He sways a little as he moves around the kitchen, humming to some sort of song.
Thatcher listened to the song that Halo was humming, trying to remember if he had heard that song before. Considering he had been around for many years, he had heard many different songs. “What song are you humming?” He asked after he couldn’t place it.
Halo starts, "Oh, a song my mother used to sing to me when I was little. She used to sing it when I was scared." He chuckles softly, placing his food on a plate. "Itadakimasu." he says softly before eating.
“You’re humming it now- are you scared?” Thatcher questioned, staying where he was. He could have sat down, but he thought it was best for him to stay up and alert. He thought of the name of the song, wondering if it was in a different langue.
"No. Now I hum it to remember her." he says softly, smiling a little. "Please, sit down." Halo points his hand towards the seat across from him. "I don't mind. It's rather nice having company." He chuckles a little bit.
Thatcher nodded his hand with understanding. He hesitated at the offer, not moving to sit down at first. He eventually stepped over, sitting next to Halo with his legs slightly stretched. “Should we go back to that hunter camp today so I can finish up?” He asked.
"If you'd like. I'm not making you do anything you don't want to do." Halo says softly, sipping some water. He relaxes slightly, humming a little bit as he glances at the other.
Thatcher nodded his head before he spoke. “As much as I.. dislike being bound, it happened and I have to serve my purpose,” he answered.
Halo looks down. "I don't mean to keep you as a slave or someone to do my dirty work. I just need protection. You can do as you wish, I don't mind." Halo says softly. He never wanted to keep someone against their will. He knew how that felt all to well.
Thatcher frowned as he thought about what Halo said. Halo wasn’t aware of what he had done, how terrible it could be to bind a Reaper. Giving and taking life was an important thing. Normally, his kind controlled the balance when it was needed, but under the control of someone else, the balance of everything could be seriously thrown off. “I would like to do my job, then.”
Halo nods, sighing softly and he looks down into his cup. "Go ahead." He says slightly, shaking his head. He knew what he was doing was wrong, taking lives, but people… if people like that in the world were hurting innocents. It wasn't okay… He groans softly, and shakes his head.
Thatcher could see Halo’s hesitation, but that shouldn’t be his problem. He reached into his pocket, taking out the paper and pen. “I’ll need names,” he said, leaning forward against his elbows as he rested them on the table. He glanced Halo over, lips pursed in thought.
Halo looks at the paper, his eyes glancing at his hands then towards the paper. With small, trembling hands, he gently takes the paper from Thatcher. He had seen the enslaved children, the sobbing mothers, the broken and weak fathers. He gulps softly and slowly trails the pen across the paper, writing the names of the men. He takes a small breath before handing it to the other. "Here." he says quietly.
