After a minute, Thatcher decided to wake Halo up. Very gently, he gave Halo a nudge. “Halo, wake up,” he said.
Halo grunts, nuzzling into Thatcher, refusing to wake up. He was always so tired despite his happy attitude. He had been on the run for such a long time.
Thatcher tried a couple more times before giving up. Halo was obviously exhausted, so he would let the angel sleep. Once again, he tried to get up, seeing how Halo would react.
Halo clung to him, whimpering when the other tried to leave, but let him go, curling in on himself.
Thatcher was standing now, looking down at Halo. He gave a slight huff and sitting back on the end of the bed. He didn’t like seeing Halo like this, and he reached out to hold Halo’s hand gently.
Halo eased, his hand holding the other and starts to fall into a more peaceful sleep. He relaxes and sighs softly in his sleep, his breathing eased and gentle.
(Should we do a time skip to when Halo wakes up?)
(sure)
(Alright)
It was at least an hour later, and Thatcher was still sitting on the bed. He still held Halo’s hand, and hadn’t seemed to move. Whenever he had thought about moving and doing something else, he assumed that Halo would start to get upset again. So, with that, he stayed right where he was.
Halo's eyes flutter open slowly and he sighs softly. He had gotten the best sleep he had ever had in the past month.
Thatcher’s head turned to look at Halo once he heard the sigh. He let go of Halo’s hand before speaking up. “Halo?” He asked, wondering if the angel was completely awake.
"Mmm." He says sleepily. "Yes?" He says quietly.
“Good, you’re awake..” Thatcher said quietly. “You seemed to be having a nightmare of some sorts, so I brought you to your bedroom. You wouldn’t let go of me, so I stayed,” he explained.
Halo turns red, "Oh my god… I'm so sorry!" He says, looking at him, his eyes are wide. "I… Sorry." He hides his face in his hands.
“No, no, it’s alright,” Thatcher assured Halo. “You don’t need to worry about it. You seemed to be in distress, so I helped,” he added. He didn’t mind, really, that he helped Halo. He didn’t want to see the boy so upset like that.
"I'm sorry you had to deal with that…" He says, buring his head. "Sorry…" he mutters, again. He hugs his knees to his chest. He was so embarrassed.
“It’s okay, Halo, really,” Thatcher reassured the angel. He straightened his posture a tad as he looked down at Halo. “There is no reason for you to be upset.”
He holds his knees. "I… I really am sorry… you shouldn't have done that…" He keeps blabbering his apologies, his eyes are wide.
“Halo, stop it,” Thatcher said now instead, his tone a bit more firm. “Don’t say you’re sorry. I didn’t have to do it, but I did anyways. It helped you, and that’s what matters.”
He bites his lip before gently hugging the other. "Thanks."
“You’re welcome,” Thatcher responded. He didn’t move that much to try and hug Halo back, but this time, he didn’t tense up. “Tell me, what did you dream about that was so terrible?” He asked after a moment. “You we’re crying out a lot, and shivering very violently.”
Halo pulls away, his eyes going downcast. "I… I uh… don't even know where to start…" He says softly.
Thatcher nodded his head slowly, looking at Halo with his eyes squinted. “You.. don’t have to tell me anything, but I would suggest that you do,” he said slowly.
Halo takes a small breath, "Well… w-when I was younger, I was the hated child… I suppose… I uh… I died by suicide… I threw myself from a building…" He says quietly. "Well. More like my brother pushed me. I had reconsidered and was turning off, but my brother shoved me. I stumbled and fell…" He takes a trembling breath. "I uh… When I went to heaven, god learned of my sexuality and I was banished and that's when I tried cutting my wings off… I was reliving that…" He whispers.
Thatcher frowned heavily in thought as he looked at Halo. The story just made him.. sad. He didn’t feel that emotion to often, so it made him uncomfortable and unsure of what to do. “I’m sorry that happened. Someone like you doesn’t deserve any of that pain,” he decided to say.
