"I'm trying! How the hell do I keep it steady?!"
"I'm trying! How the hell do I keep it steady?!"
Daso blew out an exasperated breath. "The ship, dumbass! I think." He made a face. "I totally know what i'm talking about."
Ryan groaned and just continued to pull on the rope. I have no clue what I'm doing…
The ship groaned and creaked as the storm battered it around. Daso didn't feel like he was doing much to prevent that.
He pulled on another rope nearby, trying to figure out what each rope was doing. Let's see…this turns the ship left and this one….turn it right as well? What the heck?
Morrigan was trapped, staring at the living, breathing firm of her little brother. Lucian was there too, grabbing her by the hand and leading her to the edge of the ship.
Daso clung to the ropes, his hands burning. He glanced around through the sheets of rain, spotting Morrigan heading towards the edge of the boat. "Damn it, Nobody, take over," he said, letting go immediately. The boat pitched, nearly making him lose his footing. He hurried down to the main deck. "Morrigan, stop! That's not Lucian!" He didn't know who the other siren was pretending to be.
Ryan put the two ropes he was holding onto in his right hand and grabbed the one the other boy had let go of with his left. He walked backwards, tugging on them and trying to fight the storm.
Lucian and David led her to the end of the plank, smiling kindly. “Come with us.”, Lucian smiled. “Please, Morri.”, her brother begged. “I can’t loose you again”. Morrigan never remembered being so happy in her life. She nodded, in a trance, and jumped off the side of the boat.
"Damn it!" Daso said again as Morrigan dove off the side. Without hesitation he dove in after her. The sirens instantly surrounded them both, trying to pull them under, and the waves crashed with growing intensity.
Out of the corner of her eye, Cicada saw Morrigan jump off the boat and Daso jump in after her. She turned to the siren and said, "i know I promised, but that was a long time ago."
Cicada jumped in after both of them, daggers out and began to fight for all three of their lives.
The ocean water splashed over him, drenching his body. Everyone seemed miserable as they fought the sirens and the waves. The rope burned Ryan's hands, but he held them tight and tried to steady the boat the best he could.
Silver had jumped in the water, trying to save anyone who had fallen overboard.
Her hair floated around her face serenely, and she looked around, holding her breath. “Don’t hold your breath.”, her brother told her. “It’s nice underwater.” She opened her mouth and took a big gulp of water.”

Daso wrapped his arms around Morrigan's waist and yanked her to the surface, struggling to hold them both above water. She wasn't fully conscious –had she sucked in any water? Suddenly, he was surrounded by three sirens. Leah. Dara. His mother. He hadn't seen his mother's face in seven years. God, she looked the same. No, he shook those thoughts away. Not real, he reminded himself.
"Daso get her back to the ship!" Cicada shouted at him, "I'll take care of the sirens!"
She steeled herself against her old friends and sank her dagger into the closest one.
As Ryan tugged on the ropes, he saw a familiar face in the water. The bleached blonde hair and blue eyes stuck out among the dark waves. Cade… His grip on the ropes loosened.
Daso snapped out of his daze. "Right," he replied, supporting her with one arm and swimming back towards the ship with the other. She was a dead weight, so it was a bit difficult. A siren grabbed his arm and tried to pull him under. It was Leah, grinning, "C'mon, Daso! Die for me. You know you want to!" He ignored her, calling up to the top of the boat, "Nobody! Can we get rope or something?"
It took Ryan a few seconds to process what the boy had said. Rope….right! He found a large rope and threw one end to the boy, attaching the other to a heavy metal thing. He made sure the rope reached them before he ran to the side of the ship, calling out his brother's name. "Cade! Cade, where did you go?"
Daso heard the kid shouting but ignored it. He took hold of the rope, swung Morrigan around so that she was on his back, kept one arm around her, and began to climb. His feet nearly slipped. The wood was slick with rainwater and the siren's fog was still in his mind. He forced himself to keep going.
Lucian heard shouting, and he ran to the deck. “Bloody hell! What’s going on?!” He exclaimed, grabbing onto one of the masts with this hand as the ship swayed.
"Why did you leave us Cicada?" the sirens voice spoke in tantum. Each one identical to the people she was closest to. She was crying as she swan towards another one and shoved a dagger into it's gut, "I never meant to. I never meant for any of it to happen."
Daso finally made it on to the boat. "Lucian!" he called, seeing him walk out on deck. He gently laid Morrigan on her back, checking her breathing.
A blur of blonde hair caught his attention. Cade? Ryan turned and saw his brother drowning in the water. "Hold on! I'll save you!" He ran to where his brother was and looked down at the waves, swinging his leg over the side. Suddenly, he stopped. Cade looked up at him. "Ryan? Ryan what's wrong? Come help me!" Ryan shook his head, slowly taking his knife from his belt. "No….you're not Cade. You're Cade from six years ago, but he would've aged by now." In one smooth motion, Ryan threw the knife at the siren and it plunged into it's chest.
Lucian heard Daso call his name and he ran over, eyes wide with fear. “Did she fall overboard? The hell is happening, Daso?” He asked quickly, feeling the side of Morrigan’s neck for a pulse. It was faint, but there, at least.
