Leah shrugged.
"Well, I like to avoid freaking at all costs, I already do that enough."
Leah shrugged.
"Well, I like to avoid freaking at all costs, I already do that enough."
Violet chuckled.
"Oh really?" she asked sarcastically.
Leah punched her playfully on the shoulder.
"Shut up," she teased. "I'm just saying, I don't think about the future much, I just kind of,,,let things ride out and deal with them in the present, as I go."
"I know!" Violet said laughing.
She returned the punch by tickling Leah on her waist. Giggling as she did so.
Leah screeched and rolled away from her, getting close to the edge and tottering before she fell to the floor, where she grabbed Violet by the wrist and pulled her halfway off the bed.
"Ahh" She hung limply off the side of the bed, Leah underneath her.
"Why did you-" She giggled again and continued to tickle
Leah screeched once again and then attempted to climb out from under Violet.
She heard the front door close firmly and stood up quickly, flattening her hair—which was pointless because it was always messy and very tightly curled— and her clothes and sat down on the edge of her bed. She heard rummaging coming from the living room and sighed in relief.
Her mother knew she liked girls in a way, but she didn't want to give her a reason to tease her, which she most definitely would have done if she'd walked in and spotted them both in the positions they had been in seconds before, with her daughter pinned under Violet.
Violet rolled off Leah when she sat up. "Wha-" She started to say still laying on the ground, but then heard the rummaging. "Your Mom's home." she said happily, still giggling a bit. Leah's hair was everywhere, and Violet was sure her's wasn't much better.
Leah coughed into a fist and then smiled.
"Yeah," she said "Do I look like I did something suspicious?"
She flattened her hair and shirt again.
Violet laughed.
"No, your fine." she said and reached up to fluff Leah's hair. "Stop flattening it. It's only flat when you're nervous.
Are you nervous?"
Leah nodded and gave a relieved smile.
"I mean, it's never truly straight." She pointed out, "my afro is always unruly."
Violet reached up and tucked in a stray floating curll.
"I know," she said smiling. "I love it."
Leah smiled and pushed her playfully off her bed. She strode past her and opened the door, looking down at her.
"Do you want something to eat?" She asked earnestly. "I'm starving."
"Sure!" Violet said jumping up.
She followed behind Leah, humming as they went.
Leah led the way into the kitchen, she saw her mom's bedroom door was shut and assumed she was changing out of her scrubs.
She opened the fridge and pulled out a jar of Nutella and then two pieces of bread. "Help yourself to anything."
She then took a butter knife out of the cutlery drawer and dipped it in the Nutella, slathering it on top of one piece of bread and then slapping the other piece on top.
Violet grabbed one piece of bread and then picked up the nutella.
"You keep your nutella in the fridge?" she asked as she spread it onto her raw toast.
"Uhm, yes?" Leah said, turning to face Violet, "It keeps it cold."
"Why would you want it cold?" Violet looked at her with astonishment. "Have you never had it melted?"
"I have." Leah said in a mock offense. "But I like it cold."
She took a small bite of the crust of her bread, ripping it off and then taking a bite of her sandwich and chewing slowly.
Violet shook her head and smiled. "Ok then." She took a bite of her raw toast.
Leah embraced the flavor of the Nutella and chocolate together and she closed her eyes. She realised she hadn't eaten since last night, because she had to work.
"Wow." She said, raising her hand to cover her mouth. "I didn't realise how hungry I am."
Violet nodded and took a bite of hers. The chocolate making her taste buds quite happy.
"Why?" she asked after swallowing.
"I haven't eaten since last night." Leah said "I just kind of forgot."
She took another huge bite and chewed slowly.
Violet fronund.
"That's not good." she said after taking another bite and swallowing. "How do you go a day without eating and not notice?"
(my characters Leah—)
(yes?)
(you said 'Leah fronund')
Leah made her way back into her bedroom, lying half sitting up and half down, with her back against the wall.
(Ahhh sorry, I fixed it. I was doing three different things at the time, sorry.)
(its fine)
