"Yeah, see ya later." She waved goodbye to her good friend and entered the mob of people trying to get to class on time.
Aether weaved through the sea of people to try to get to class on time. She heard that the teacher didn't tolerate lateness, so she shoved people out of the way a little harder than she should. Oh well, it didn't really matter that a few more people hated her.
Pushing open the double doors, she saw Peony sitting at one of the desks, papers aplenty. Walking over, she slid into the seat before someone else could, giving the person a glare. Aether turned to Peony once they backed away, and leaned back in her chair. "Hey, Peony."
(yeah definitely!!)
Peony looked to Aether and then the person who had wanted to sit beside her. She gave them a 'what-can-you-do?' type of shrug and smiled to Aether. "Hello, Aether-friend!" She beamed. "How has your first day been?" Her attention went back to her papers, but she glanced over from time to time to show she was listening.
"Pretty good so far, I had the first class with Fade." Aether gestured then to the pile of papers on Peony's desk. "What're all those papers for?"
Peony smiled. 'That is good…" She stuck her tongue out the corner of her mouth as she read through a page and then set it in the pile. "Oh, these? Speech and terminology." She told Aether. She pulled a folder out of her bag and placed the papers in there. "Lots of terms I do not understand…"

"Hmmm…" Aether leaned over and scanned the papers, seeing descriptive terms and verbs. "If you want, I could help you study sometime?"
Peony's golden eyes twinkled as she smiled brightly. "Truly? Oh thank and appreciation to you, Aether!" She leaned in and embraced her. She tucked a strand of hair behind her pointy ear as she pulled away. "You do not understand the burden you have lightened.."

Aether laughed and hugged her back, surprised at the contact. Peony smelled like flowers and the earth after a rain shower. "It's no biggie," she said, smiling at the girl. She then motioned to Peony's eyes, and then her's. "Look, we both have the same color of eyes!"
"I know! Isn't it beautiful!" She nodded. "I believe it is. Papa says that gold is the color of wealth and preciousness that remains secret until someone worthy uncovers it." She giggled at his words. "Papa likes to talk in riddles."
Barry sped through the hallways to his next class, he was sure that he was going to be late. Finally, he stumbled into the room, hair disheveled, and saw that he was not, in fact, the last to arrive. Slightly embarrassed, he found a seat to sit at.
"Well, I think your Papa is very smart," Aether said, tilting her head. "Even though I cannot understand his riddles." She smiled.
Peony gave her a wink. "You'll know one day." Her attention snapped over to the door as it opened and the teacher waltzed in. She sat up and looked to them. ((OOH! May I be the teacher?))
(yep!!)
Aether laughed and turned to the front of the room where the teacher was, and pulled out her materials for the class.
Fade looked away with a smirk on his face. "Yea but teacher I was busy taking a piss" He said as the teacher had called him to the front, scolding him for being late. Then Barry came in and that caught Fade's attention. "See! He's late too!" Barry went to sit down quietly, clear embarrassment on his face. The teacher sighed as he shook his head. "Go sit down Mr. Fade before you test my patience further." The teacher said with a stern irritation to his tone. Fade smiled as he happily went to sit beside Barry. "Heya hotshot~" Fade said, feeling a bit flirty all of a sudden.
Something had changed in Fade's tone, but Barry brushed it off, smiling at his friend. "Hey," he whispered, casting a glance at the teacher, who had looked away. "How was class?" He opened his binder, taking out his textbook.
Fade shrugged. "It was okay, it could have been better if I hadn't been freaking out the whole time, I really hate fighting people." Fade sighed and leaned back in his chair with a lazy look on his face as he watched Barry take his textbook out.
"Aw, sorry man. Too bad we don't have that class together." Barry gave him a sympathetic smile, yawning a little as he waited for the lesson to start. "Did you know anyone there?"
"Settle down everyone…" The woman said as she finished setting up her things. Students sat down and quieted. Peony turned her attention to the teacher with wide eyes. The woman, Ms.Reidenworth, was tall and willowy, her long, multicolored hair done up in a loose bun. She was dressed in messy jeans and a tunic. Her brown eyes flickered around the class, scanning faces as she smiled broadly.
"Good morning, class! Or at least I think it's morning….I don't have a clock in here." She shrugged as she rounded the desk. "Welcome to Magical Creatures 101. Here we will learn about 'mythical' creatures, where they originate from as far as we know, and we'll even get to see a few." She gave a single clap and sighed. "Now, after all that generic bullcrap, please rise and follow me outside. C'mon!" She turned to the doors on the far wall. Peony looked to Aether and stood. "She is…nice?"
Aether watched the woman with wide eyes. This wasn't a normal teacher, that's for sure. She turned to Peony as the class filed out the doors. "A little eccentric, but I can tell this'll be a fun class," Aether was ready for a teacher that wasn't strict and actually knew how to have fun.
Peony nodded her agreement as Ms. Reidenworth gave a whistle. She opened a gate and walked into the field. "Everyone file in, but stay at the gate. We are going to meet our first creature. His name is Spyke. He's a 3 year old griffin. Don't worry, he's harmless and very excitable. Does anyone feel uncomfortable meeting him?"
Aether stood on her tippy toes to see the griffin. She was most excited to see other creatures, and especially the young ones. Once she got her eyes on him, she silently awwed. She was a sucker for cute animals.
