(Alright. It'll be up in a bit.)
(Nice!)
Zara sighed as she watched the clock tick. The class was almost over but it's not really like she had anything to look forward to afterward. She had gotten detention for a week for getting in a fistfight. She looked out the window. It was still raining. It had been raining for most of the day and when it wasn't it was heavily clouded. She hated how she was the only one in detention. The other kid didn't even get in trouble because they claimed to not take part and they were good with the teachers. The bell rang and everybody started to shuffle out the door. Zara gathered up her stuff and headed to the detention room.
Sitting down, Iseul simply sat at the very very back of the class near the window. He always stayed on the sidelines. That's what he was best at. A few girls before class had cone up to him, flirting with him. Only because of his money. He expected nothing more, and he expected nothing less. That was how everyone was. They either bullied him or tried to get his money. He wasn't ever surprised in the least.
He was rather irritated about getting detention for a whole week just because of some other kid. Best him up in the bathroom and stole all of the money he had on him. Which he purposely never brought much. Only $20 to get him through the day. And if he got lucky, nobody would steal it. He didn't have much of a voice, and he wasn't about to make other people suffer. So he excepted the fact that those boys told everyone he got in a fight trying to pick on someone else. He went with it like he does everything.
The bell ringing made him almost jump out of his chair and fall, thankfully not.
He made his way down the hall, basically clinging to the wall as the kids walked past him. A bandaid across the bridge of his nose, a tiny one over his left eyebrow that was most likely, and sadly going to scar, and a bandage on his cheek. He tried to hide his embarrassing face as he walked along the halls, and opening the door to the detention room. He had never even been in here before. Though he didn't know what to expect. Maybe chainsaws and coffins with nooses everywhere? But no, it was just like a normal classroom with graffiti all over the desks.
"Is this the right place?"
Zara was already in the classroom, tracing over the graffiti on the desks with a pen. She glanced up at Isuel.
"Are ya looking for detention or the robotics club? The robotics club is next door, kid." She said with an irritated ring in her voice. She clicked her pen closed and shoved it into one of the many pockets her coat had. She glanced at the clock. "This ends at 5 and it's 3:30 now. 2 1/2 hours left" She thought.
"No, if this is detention this is where I need to be"
He says irritatebly as he sits down two seats away from the random punk-emo kid that seemed she was probably not having a nice day. But he wasn't going to judge. He wasn't haven't too good of a day himself.
He got out his hardcover notebook, opening it and pulling out his pen, twirling it so fast in his hand it almost looked like a magic trick when it flipped over to his left hand and the inked tip hit the pages and started to write.
A teacher walked in not too long afterward.
"I'm Mr.Decker and I will be popping in on you two here and there. I have work to do so I can't be in here the whole time. I'm going to be locking the door on my way out so you can't ditch. Rules are on the board. I will see you later." He explained before leaving, locking the door behind him.
The rules on the board read:
Delila sighed. She had gone over this about a thousand times so she basically had the routine memorized. She had gotten her homework in class and forgot her book at home so she didn't have much to do so for now. She pulled out her pen again and started doodling on herself. She drew little nordic runes all over her hands and lower arm.
"얼마나 성가신 ….."
He says with a sigh. His eyes darting across the page along with the words that he had written. The neat Korean letters every now and then a little chibi character with a flower in their hair on the side. He was only writing a poem about life and death falling in love. Though he never dared to share any of these.
Zara sighed and put her feet on the desk and started to hum to herself, a jazzy sounding song. She looked out the window. It was still raining but it wasn't pouring like it was earlier. She looked over Isuel.
"Hey!" Zara said trying to get his attention. "What are you in here for?" She asked as she stretched.
"Well…..apparently I beat up a kid."
He says with a sigh looking up from his notebook, twirling his pencil in his hand. He stood up and walked to the window, his multicolored eyes following the droplets of water fall off of the glass, landing on the window sill one by one. The pitter-pattering of the rain soothed his mind the more he studied it.
"Apparently? Did you get blamed for something?" Zara asked, raising an eyebrow. She brought her feet off the desk and stood up. She walked over to the window to see what he was drawing.
"If that's what you're gonna believe, then yes. but hey, I can't control other people"
He says with a shrug and sitting down on the window sill, and began to draw once more. The only thing that he could draw realistically was nature… never people or bundling or symmetrical things. Even most animals were hard for him. Through the rough sketch of the window, the rain dripping down the window. Trees and bushes outside with a little cat sitting up in a tree.
Zara shoved her hand into her jacket pockets.
"Nice drawing," Zara said as she looked over her shoulder. "Hey, you're new here, right? I don't think I've seen you around before." She looked him up and down. He definitely was any kid she had gotten into a fight or argument and she had done that with half of the school. She got most of her friends that way.
He simply nods his head, giving her a side glance then going back to the drawing. Just because he was new here though, it didn't mean he wasn't well educated on how things work here. He's forced himself to ask around so he knows what people not to mess with. Though sometimes he had to learn that the hard way.
"So much for talking, " Zara thought as she looked at the clock. 45 minutes had passed by. She sighed. This was going to last forever if they just kept sitting here. She scanned around the room for something to do but thought of nothing.
"Welp! This is boring. I'm leaving!" She announced as she walked over to the window and began to open it.
"Wait what? No no no no. Youre in detention for a reason I'm sure."
He says snapping his book shut and putting the pen behind his ear.
Was she going to be able to get away with doing something like that?? The guy said that he was going to check in on them every now and then anyway!
"this girl is crazy!!"
"Well yeah, I'm in here for a reason. A stupid reason. Why shouldn't I leave?" Zara asked as she opened the window fully and stuck her leg out.
"Plus, I've been here a thousand times and it's not like it's done anything." She explained as she stuck the other leg out.
"Well……where are you going?"
He asks her as he steps towards the open window. The chilly fresh breeze blowing in and already sending chills down his spine, which he loved.
He was tempted to go with her, but he's heard about her before. And he was thankful that he didn't have to learn the hard way not to stay away from her. She was probably one of the scariest in the school. And that just now registered in his mind. He had to be INSANE to go with her!
But something in the back of his mind was crawling forwards, telling him to follow.
"To go get a snack from the vending machines. If the teacher comes back and to let us out and I'm not here, I could get another week of detention." She explained as she jumped out the window. It was still raining so she pulled her hood up and tightened her jacket.
"Plus, no matter what he says he never checks on us. Now are you coming or not?" She asked, giving him an impatient look.
"Wha- um….yeah i guess I am."
He says shoving the mini sketchbook into his back pocket allllong witj his pen and easily jimps out of the window. He didn't have anything to cover himself so he guessed he was going to have to deal with it.
"why in the world am I doing this! I must be going crazy!!"
He thought to himself as he followed her.
Zara shivered because of the rain and began to fast walk to the nearest open doors.
"What's your name anyway?" Zara asked as she pulled her hoodie closer to her as the rain began to soak it. "And why did you move here?"
"It's Isuel….. But wait….Hold on…..is my English really that bad?"
He says with a sigh as he runs his fingers through his hair. His English was actually amazing for only living in America for two years. Only a slight accent which he hated.
Zara gave him a look of confusion before she realized he was talking about how he was from a different country.
"Oh! So you're not American! Your english is really good. I was just asking why you moved to town." Zara said as she rounded the corner to the entrance of the school. She quickly slipped inside, shaking her hair out like a dog.
"Thank you I guess….. And no I most definitely am not if you can see me at all in think you would be able to tell. Anyway, No I'm from Korea."
He says to her, then Flinching at her getting water everywhere, he walked up to the vending machine. Not getting any soda. No, Never Iseul. No, he wanted the moonpies more than anything
Zara pulled out some cash out of one of the pockets inside her jacket, making sure it was not wet before unfolding it.
"What do you want kid? This times on me." Zara said as she began to straighten out the bills. She had a few ones but mostly fives. She must of had almost fifty buck on her. She glanced at the clock on the wall near by.
"1 1/2 left" Zara thought as she fed bills into the vending machine. Once they were in she punched in a few numbers. A bag of sour gummy worms, a bag of salt and vinegar chips and a water rolled out. She grabbed them, unscrewing the water and taking a drink.
