In response, Dylan attempted to raise his right arm, struggled, and so instead raised his left, raising a high shield wall laced with streaks of light. Then he fled with the others.
He turned to the dark-skinned girl, wincing, "Your friends aren't all that nice, now are they?"
Kagiso scoffed and pulled the two strangers off to the left, hopping over a vegetable cart and leading them down a tight street full of crap shacks and mini stores. "They are not my friends- and 'nice' is one of the last words I would use to describe them." answered the fugitive, and there were no more words spoken until they reached the end of the long catty-cornerd street. "I can get you down to the docks and on a boat," she started. "Now that they know you are here you are not safe."
Dylan shook his head in refusal, and all at once he began to feel light-headed and dizzy. Then he tripped completely, landing on his left arm. Only then did he notice the blood running in flood down his right arm, pouring like a small waterfall from his shoulder. He cursed. The bullet, which must have hit him during the first few minutes, had probably passed clean through him.
Sighing, Dylan pushed himself to his feet and tried to run again, whilst wrapping shadows around it to stop the bleeding. Due to the sun, however, the shadows were weak, and blood seeped through.
Avery choked back a gasp at the sight of the blood running down Dylan’s arm, and she grabbed his hand to stop him. “Dylan… Slow down. Stop. Let me bandage this up,” she whispered, gesturing to his shoulder. “I know how to wrap wounds.”
Kagiso slowed, and pulled all three of them down behind a pile of crates. "Is there a bullet still inside the wound? If there is they could be tracking us." she asked fearfully. Then she moved out of the way so the other girl could examine her friend. Or boyfriend? She decided to refrain from asking.
Dylan slid back and felt his shoulder with his left arm. It was as he expected: the bullet had passed clean through him.
"No, no. It's gone. It's…gone… Tracking?" He began to slip a little in language, and shook himself vigorously, "How can they track? Are they backed?" His head swam, questions floating about in blood and confusion. He leaned his shoulder towards Avery to bandage. Where did she get bandages? Were they in the truck? Oh wait, the little day bag…. yeah, that's it.
Tracking. What was so interesting? Oh, right. Where?
"Special technology. They put trackers in almost everything they use. So there could've been a tracker in the bullet, or maybe not. But It's better to be safe than sorry." She explained. Then with a sigh, she stood and looked around cautiously. "You need water. If it's alright with you, I will go find some."
“We should have a bottle or two of water in our bag, but thank you,” Avery said as she slipped said bag from her back. She set it beside herself and dug through it, pulling out a bottle of water and the bandages. Biting her lip, she looked over the wound before looking up at Dylan. “I’m going to need you to take your shirt off so I can wrap it properly…”
(Oh dear, here I was thinking I'd responded all this time…)
Dylan nodded, still half-fading, and raised his arms to allow faint shadows to tug his shirt off. Blood slid down his side in small veins. While Avery started to tend to his shoulder, Dylan looked at the dark-skinned girl and tried to smile.
"I've been through worse… I think. Coming close to losing her," he said with a nod at Avery, "is pretty damn close to a bullet wound. If not worse. So, to what name are are we toasting tonight?"
Kagiso chuckled, and sat down again. The strangers were definitely funny, but still. She wasn't sure if she could trust them…
Screw it. What did she have to lose?
"My name is Kagiso. And, you two?"
“Aspect. At least, with the mask. I’d rather not tell my real name,” Avery mumbled as she carefully cleaned and wrapped Dylan’s shoulder, making sure to keep her gaze where she was working rather than his bare chest.
(Tread lightly…. I don't wanna make a fluff comic out of this…)
"To you, for now, Shadow. Later, I'll be more forth-coming. Thanks again for the hand, by the way. I never thought I'd be thankful to see a ball of fire closer than the sun"
(Lol. She's a girl. That just how we think. Most of us, anyway.)
"Your welcome, Shadow and Aspect. And, where do you come from? With names like those, you sound like your apart of the Avengers or something." she lightly teased. Then with a more serious face, she asked, "Are you apart of the Avengers or something?"
Avery chuckled a little at the woman’s questions. “We’re from America. And sorry to disappoint, but we’re not part of the Avengers. I’m part of my own group of girls who helps around my city.”
Dylan sighed and shrugged, wincing immediately from the pain, and again when he got a stern look from Avery. Without moving his right arm, he waved his left. "I'm just some guy. Was in the wrong place at the wrong time. And… uh…. well, maybe I shouldn't be telling this story. But yeah. And… where did those two run off to?"
Kagiso was about to speak, but suddenly shouting began in the distance, followed by the sound of a shot gun.
"Oh my." she whispered, peaking over the crates. "Yes. Yes, I think it's time to go." she said, frantically pulling the two onto their feet. But before they could even fully stand, something small was thrown into their hiding place. "Oh, we go NOW!" she yelled, and with no time to lose she leapt into the air away from the grenade that had been tossed into their shelter. However, she wasn't quite fast enough. The explosion traveled out, smacking her out of a clumsy flight and sending the trio sailing towards another crap shack. The impact was hard- only broken by the not so gentle thwack! of old boards.
Dylan had barely been on his feet before the explosion sent a wave of heat and force crashing into him. Shrapnel bounced around, lodging itself wherever it found solid purchase, including a small piece in his right hand.
He landed on his back against the walls of the shack. The shock stunned him. He couldn't stand, but he was able to crawl his way towards the road, where he thought he saw two bodies lying nearby.
(Sorry I like accidentally totally disappeared from this, I haven’t had time to respond to hardly anything. I could probably slide back in somehow, idk)
(Lol. Dw worry about it. Maybe Kaz and Vaughn got separated from the others but somehow find their way back to them?)
(Yeah that could probably work. I’ll have to see if she’s still doing this rp)
(Okie doke. Otherwise, Vaughn could have been killed in the blast, I guess… 🤷🏼♀️)
(Noo I don’t wanna do that to Kaz, he’d end up completely loosing it)
Kagiso caught her breath and stumbled to her feet, spying Shadow crawling in her direction.
"I am so tired of this." she mumbles, before pulling Shadow into a huddle with her and Aspect. "I don't suppose one of you could help me make an explosion? Escaping no longer seems like an option; we either draw them back or get caught." she explained.
