"Its… Nice." Enyln mumbled already feeling a pull on her heart. Like it'd been grasped and was now being pulled in the direction of where she'd last seen Rigel. She couldn't deny that it was in fact very nice, but it felt like something- someone was missing.
“I can take you to the welcome center, where there’s clean food, water, and a place to sleep until we get you settled,” The woman said as she took the top half of her hazmat suit off.
Rigel was taken to the testing center, and put into a chamber to wait. He at least got to take off his hazmat suit. A doctor came in, wearing a hazmat suit of course, to do some simple blood pressure and sight tests. “How long have you been sick?”
“Two weeks, I think?” Rigel replied tiredly, his memories starting to fail him. An annoying twitch started in his eye.
Vincent watched the wall from a distance, studying it. Rigel was in there, as he’d planned. Now he’d just have to wait. Vincent let out a laugh to himself at the irony. Rigel had gone to Paradis because it was safe.
"Right uh, sure." what about Rigel? Enyln wanted to ask but stopped herself. She followed the woman to the center watching for anything strange. Besides from the glances she got from others, there wasn't really anything strange about this place. Except that it felt to easy.
The lobbyist greeted them with a smile, “It’s been a while since we’ve saved another. Hi, welcome to Paradis.” The woman lead Enyln to a dining room, where a buffet was set out. The woman said quietly, “I think I’ll leave you to eat by yourself, the lobbyist can help you with anything if need be.” Then the woman was gone, already walking out of the building.
Enyln. Rigel’s eye twitched again. The doctor asked him a question, but Rigel didn’t hear. Enyln. Another twitch in his eye. Enyln. I need to find Enyln. Rigel let out a cackling laugh that echoed through the room. The doctor started to take a few steps back, but Rigel caught the man’s arm. “Where’s Enyln?” The doctor tried to jerk away, but Rigel clawed at the hazmat suit’s mask, which broke with ease for Rigel. It was as if his muscles were being recharged, and any thought of pain left him. One word was on his mind. Enyln.
Vincent leaned back from his spot in the grass, laughing more. His goal was complete. He got revenge he wanted. Because Vincent had put a bomb in Paradis. Vincent had put in Rigel. He knew that if a mutant human -one of the rarest mutants- got in there, Paradis would be destroyed from the inside. Rigel’s -humanity’s- only hope was gone. So Vincent could finally get revenge for when his brother hadn’t been there when the family had gotten sick.
Enyln opened her mouth to protest but the woman had already left her. "Okay." she said dryly, sitting down. Her stomach growled but she didn't eat. A queasy feeling was taking over Enyln's insides, and if she where to eat she was sure that she'd throw it back up instantly.
It didn’t take long for Rigel to break out of the testing labs. Enyln. No one could even sound an alarm, Rigel was already out on the streets of Paradis. Enyln. Ooze was dripping from his mouth. Enyln. He could smell her scent, like a beautiful rose. Enyln. He name was like a drum. He could hear it even when screams started to arise.
Enyln jumped at the sounds of screams and her hand intently went for her bow that wasn't there. stupid. instead she picked up a butter knife hopping that that'd be enough. find Rigel. she cracked open the door looking around before completely emerging and heading out to the street.
Rigel spotted her. She walked out of a building. If they had hurt her in anyway- There weren’t any apparent injuries. He immediately walked to her, ooze dripping out of the corners of his mouth. She’s mine to protect. Mine. “Enyln!” Rigel called as he approached, a smile on his face.
Enyln spun around and saw Rigel, joy quickly turning to horror. "Rigel?" Her voice shook. "What- what happened to you?" The ooze throwing her off. its a sick joke- it has to be.
“Nothing, my darling Enyln. I’ve evolved, I can protect you now. Jack’s men will be dead by the end of the week, I promise. I can still remember their scents,” Rigel said with a sadistic edge to his voice, taking a step forward and grabbing Enyln’s forearms, “I’ve got you now. I’ll never let you out of my sight this time, Enyln.”
Suddenly the butter knife Enyln had grabbed now felt useless. She pulled agents his grip fear on her face, "let me go." She whimpered. Run, get away. "Rigel please." As soon as he'd let go she'd run- if he let her go.
Rigel tugged her closer, “Why do you want to go, Enyln? You’re mine, and I’m yours. I’ll never leave you again. I’m here to protect you.” Rigel brought one hand -with nails covered in blood after he attacked the doctor- to brush against Enyln’s face. “Mine.”
Enyln stiffened at his touch, "I am not yours." She hardened her voice and continued to pull agents him, "and you are not the Rigel I love." Some how she hopped her words would sting, or shock him back to normal. Even if she knew it wouldn't work.
Rigel sneered, “What could you possibly mean by that, my little Enyln?” Rigel leaned in, lips going for Enyln’s.
“Stop! Let her go! We’ll shoot!” Rigel jerked his head, snarling, to see ten people in hazmat suits, all holding high tech guns.
Rigel pressed Enyln up against his chest, so ooze dripping on her shoulder as he growled, “I will rip your faces off before you shoot.”
"Let me go." Enyln struggled agents him as he pulled her closer. She eyed the peoples gun, "please don't shoot him!" She shouted before she could stop herself. "Rigel, why don't we talk about this- out side the walls." Maybe she could get him away from these people, maybe she could get away.
“Why would I leave, my sweet Enyln? Paradis was my dream, why should I give that up? I didn’t even get to walk through the door without a hazmat suit,” Rigel said quietly, knarled hand drifting near her neck.
“Let her go!” A hazmat suited woman called, hoisting the gun higher but didn’t shoot quite yet.
"Rigel please!" Enyln's hands shot up to his in desperation. "They are going to shoot you! You'd make me watch that?" play his weaknesses. "you'd make me watch you die? After everything?" But this was worse then watching in die. Yes, far worse, watching him become the very thing he didn't want to become, a monster.
Rigel tilted his head, something behind his eyes flashing. “Enyln… I love you…” And slowly, so slowly, he let go and brought his second hand up to her face, leaning in. Enyln…
Five of the suited people took aim, waiting for the moment when Enyln got out of the firing range.
"Run." Enyln leaned her forehead to his then turned to meet the gaze of those with guns, "please. Don't shoot him." She stood shielding Rigel with her own body. If they wanted to shoot him, they'd have to shoot her too.
“He’s infecting the very air we breath! He’s destroyed Paradis!” One of them exclaimed, hoisting the gun higher. Rigel frowned, ooze dripping in glops out of his mouth. He took a step away, but not away from the guns. Like a flash, Rigel was upon them, clawing off their hazmat suits and swiping away their guns. But there were ten of them, and many more bullets -which flew through the air widely in every direction- (cough If you wanted to… cough ya know, murder Enyln… cough) as Rigel tore of the face of one of them, blood dripping from his mouth. Human flesh tasted good.
From inside Paradis headquarters, someone made the call to open the gates. That’d it be better than trapping the infected air inside. They were so wrong, as Vincent whistled. His small militia of mutant -creatures he met and took over- beasts snarled and growled, and that trademark ooze was everywhere. And they were charging for Paradis. To take over the last of the safe world, and for Vincent’s personal goal, to make Rigel’s only hope be crushed.
(I have returned after looking up what a gun shot can do to someone.)
Enyln opened her mouth to scream but was cut short by something lodging itself in her side. Her hands flew to her side as adrenaline kicked in not yet letting her know what happened. Blood. There was blood on her hands. "Crap." She mumbled looking for something to steady herself. "Rigel. Rigel stop please." She made her voice come out strong even though she wasn't.
Rigel tackled down another, the rests sprinting away, before he stopped when he heard Enyln. Blood. The specific smell of her blood. The man he tackled couldn’t have been dead quicker, and Rigel rushed to Enyln’s side, already placing his hand over her wound. “I’m going to kill them for this, I’m going to hunt them down.” Rigel declared with a snarl, looking at the fleeing people.
"Don't." Enyln grabbed Rigels shoulders as she spoke, "don't kill. Anyone." The pain finally setting in. If you'd have asked her the worst part of it all she wouldn't have said the pain, no. It was being covered in the sticky warm feeling of blood. "Leave them." Enyln's face pinched in pain as she stumbled to the gound. "Promise me."
Rigel’s head started to spin, and he said almost in a warning tone, “Enyln…” More screams could be heard off in the distance, and Rigel pressed harder against Enyln’s wound as he kneeled beside her, “We were supposed to live in Paradis together, I got out for you.” A glob off ooze landed on Enyln’s shoulder as Rigel leaned over her, “If you- I’m killing them all.”
"Don't." Enyln's face continued to twist in pain, ever word a labor. "I don't…I don't want to die. And neither do they." Blur, everything started to Blur. Everything but Rigel. And that pained her more. Seeing him as a monster.
