"We don't have the writing! Everyone knows that the writing indicates being soulmates!" Aelia said. She knew people without the writing existed, however rare. But she had never heard of their happy ending. She never saw stories of two people without writing being happily married.
Sat's face turned to annoyed and… Sad? He sighed deeply. "I mean… Is this crazy? Is it crazy that we are in love but we aren't even soulmates? Is it not… Not real?.."
Aelia sighed. She knew it was real. She knew her feelings were real, but it didn't change the fact that they weren't soulmates. She glanced at her wrist, wondering what words would appear if Saturn was actually her soulmate. "Sat… I know we're real. I love you so much, but I don't know if I'd be able to live if you ever found your real soulmate. I don't know if I'd be able to survive that. I'd be happy for you, of course, but I'd wish selfishly it were me."
Saturn closed his eyes for a bit and rubbed the bridge of his nose. His breath trembled. "But, what if i do find my soulmate some day? What if she is great and all, but… She isnt you? What if she is person i am meant to be, and the only person i can imagine myself with… is you?.. What if my whole life is messed up and it's all just because i met you…?"
Aelia laughed to stop the tears that were burning in her eyes. She couldn't help it. It hurt. It really hurt that they were not soulmates and it hurt that they weren't mean to be. It pained her to love him so much but not be able to be with him. "Saturn… I do love you, but the universe… It says we're not meant to be and it hurts, trust me. But I can't- I can't ruin your life. I wish we were soulmates more than anything else. If the universe gave me one wish, I'd spend it on you without hesitation."
Saturnus smiled softly to hold back the tears. It was too late… One tear drop got away and slid down his cheek. He inhaled sharply.
Aelia looked at Saturn and saw tears in his eyes and it sparked something in her. She wanted to yell. She wanted to scream. She wanted to throw a fit and blame the universe for not letting her and Saturn be soulmates. And the universe heard her thoughts. But the universe could not do anything about it. The universe is not kind. It is not fair. It is what it is. And no matter how hard one wishes, it does not change. The universe does not sway for anyone, simple as that. Aelia tore her gaze from Saturn and looked to her wrists, willing for something to appear. She looked back at Saturn wanting to kiss him more than ever and pulled herself towards him. Screw the universe. She pushed her lips onto his and let herself relax in the embrace. She pulled back, tentatively, and hoped she hadn't messed up. "I- uh- I just- Saturn?" Aelia asked in a hushed voice.
Saturn was surprised, but he didn't complain. God, how much did he want to kiss her… "Yeah?…" He smiled and wiped his eyes.
Aelia suddenly felt very warm and nervous. "Was- was that okay?" She hoped it was, because she wanted to do it again. Her face grew redder by the second. She looked into his eyes. Those ocean blue eyes…
"It was more than okay…" Sat couldnt stop smiling. He kissed her again.
This time, Aelia was more confident in her actions. She kissed him back, a small flame turning into a bonfire of passion in her chest. I love you Sat. I love you so sooo much.
Sat ran his hand through her hair. "god… im fucked aint i?…"
Aelia tore herself from Saturn. Wow… She couldn't believe what was happening. She couldn't believe how right it felt, how she seemed to fit perfectly into Saturn's arms. She wished the moment could last forever. That she and Saturn could last forever.
"So now what?.." Saturn realized that their futures are doomed.
Aelia looked at Saturn, looking right into the blue pools that were his eyes. "I- I don't know… Maybe, for now, we go home?" But there was another question tugging at her brain. What happens to us? They certainly weren't the firsts that defied the universe's laws, but they were rare. Most people found soulmates. Or searched for their soulmates. But Saturn and Aelia? They had found each other.
(oh wow i havent been here in a while)
"Yeah, i guess we should…I'll walk you.." He stood up quietly sniffing his nose and took his jacket.
(big ole oof there)
Aelia got up using Saturn to steady herself. She didn't have anything of importance to grab and made her way towards the door. She glanced at Saturn, a pained expression on her face. For some reason, it felt like the end of the world even though everything had just began for her.
