((oh my god I'm so sorry, my exams are doing me in))
With a small nod Helen stood and backed out of the office, mumbling a soft goodbye on her way out. She passed by her deserted desk to pick up some files and was quickly on her way out and towards a small cafe nearby to get to work.
(It's fine, I understand)
Remus also mumbled back a small 'goodbye' when Helen left. He was glad someone like Helen was working for her, considering how everyone only worked for him because they thought he looked cute or they like this job but they're horrible at it.
Lilly stayed quiet, letting Jay kiss her and be handsy with her. She couldn't do anything about it anyway, no one would come here to check on them anyway. Jay had money to make sure no one did.
(Should remus and Helen be… Something?)
(I mean… It could be interesting)
(Lol okay then, we can do that)
(We shall do it in the morning if that's alright, it's getting a lil late here)
(Okay then, that's perfectly fine! You should go get sleep)
(ahha that's true, thank you. See you tomorrow <3)
(See you tomorrow, good night! <3)
(Alrighty I'm back! So, Remus and Helen then? =
(Uhhhh,what am I supposed to do/say? Relen? I don't know)
(Oh sorry, I was just checking it was alright!)
Settling into a table, Helen pulled out her work.
The sweet smell of fresh pastries wafted into sitting area, and she inhaled deeply.
With a smile she stood up and walked over to the counter. "Could I have one insert pastry?"
(what's your or Lily's favourite pastry?)
(It's fine, sorry I didn't understand!)
The cashier glanced at the brunette that had walked up to the counter and smiled at her. "Sure! That'll be $3.50, were you planning on using cash or card?"
(Lilly's favorite pastry is a cinnamon roll)
"Cash, thank you," Helen assured, pulling out her wallet. She slid the money over the counter and smiled over at the cahier.
She was pleased with this thought of hers– it could top off a nice way for her and her daughter.
(Sorryyyyy)
"You're welcome!" The cashier replied, swiftly putting the cash in the cash register before turning around and getting a cinnamon roll, handing it to her with the smile still on their face.
(Ehhhh)
(Lol still on their face after a couple months)
Helen walked out of the shop, slowly walking home to start on her work.
(Lmao yes)
Lilly let the tears fall down her face, her body shaking ever so slightly as she hid herself. Jay had left to go to lunch, not even looking back to see if Lilly was okay or not.
Lilly didn't even know what to do, she couldn't go to the cafeteria since she didn't being her makeup to cover up the bruises, but, Ajax would be concerned if she didn't come. Well, she wasn't that sure about the last statement, she wasn't even sure if Ajax really cared about her.
A soft knock on the wall interrupted her thoughts, making her look at the source of noise through watery eyes. It was Ajax, looking rather worried and concerned as he looked at Lilly. "You okay, Lilly?"
"I'm fine." Was all Lilly could say, her throat being constricted with all the horrors she had to go through. She was fine, she had said those two words so many times, she didn't even know if she actually was fine at this point.
(I just realized how long the post is and I'm sorry)
(It’s ok! I like long)
Ajax studied Lilly for moment. “You can talk to me, okay?” He hovered, hands clasped together in front of him. He had an idea about the problem… but didn’t start on it. With a nod and a half-smile, he backed and walked away.
Helen trudged home, plugged into her music. Her thoughts were going a mile an hour, partially about her work but also for Lilly. Why had she sent that message?
Lilly just nodded in response, a small surge of confidence making her get up. "I–Can I tell you something…?" She asked shyly, sighing in defeat when he left. She should have known it was going to be no use. She wished she could just start over her whole life and never get to know Jay. Or Ajax for that matter, since he made Jay even worse.
(WAIT NO I'M GOING TO BRING HIM BACK LATER)
The minute Helen got home she started on cleaning, so the house would be fitting to the conversation she'd try to have. And… strangely enough, she found herself thinking about Remus.
Ajax headed to his class, mind full of thoughts. Lilly hadn't said anything… Did she not want his help? Was he just a buddy?
(Oof, it's fine, Lilly is going to go to Ajax anyway)
Lilly stayed like that for a few moments before getting up and looking at herself, covered in bruises with scratch marks on her neck and puffy eyes from crying so much. She looked like she had had a horrible hangover, which the exact opposite of what had happened to her. She straightened her back and fixed her hair, trying her best to get herself together so she could leave the bathroom. "I can do this, I can ask Ajax for help. I'm not a damsel in distress that needs a super buff man to save her…" She mumbled to herself, wiping off the tears and adjusting her clothes.
Remus had finished his work rather early today, surprised at himself as he stretched his arms and looked around the room too see if he would remember if he had any other work. He was glad when he realized he didn't have anything else to do, ignoring the fact that his brain wanted to think about Helen. Why? He had no clue.
She started humming along to herself, turning over her latest project in her mind, if focused on keeping Remus out of her mind.
Ajax stopped for a moment, breaking away from the flow of people to lean against a wall. He shut his eyes.
Deep breaths. Focus on the noise. Lilly doesn’t know you well enough, that’s all it is. It isn’t you. She doesn’t hate you.
Lilly walked out the bathroom confidently, not caring about the other popular girls that were making up rumors that would spread like wild fire, the other girls either laughing at her or worried about her. She quickly made her through the hallways, eyes searching for Ajax. When she finally found him, she went over to him and lightly tapped his shoulder, not sure what she was going to say.
Remus hummed under his breath as he started packing up, trying to think of everything but Helen. Was he finally going insane? Or was he just super worried about her for some reason?
