"Still? I can't remember why we had him in the first place," Zane said before taking a sip of his beer.
"Still? I can't remember why we had him in the first place," Zane said before taking a sip of his beer.
“He might have refused to pay money or something.” He tilted his head back to take a long drink. “He might be dead by now, I don’t know.”
"Well, he was already lined up for the death penalty in a few months, wasn't he? You should dump the body if he's dead." Zane swirled his beer around in the glass. "If he's living I think he's learned his lesson."
(bump)
“Very true.” Obadiah tapped his fingers against the glass, “But he would know our whereabouts and leak our secret. It might be easier just to kill him.” He spoke so nonchalantly, almost as if they were still talking about house decorations.
Zane hummed. "True." He stood up, beer in hand. "Maybe we should pay him a visit."
Thalia walked back to the table, giving her mom a worried glance. She finished the last few problems on her homework, and stood up to help Nyir with the food.
Zane hummed. "True." He stood up, beer in hand. "Maybe we should pay him a visit."
“Maybe we should.” He nodded, heading over to the stairs again “Let’s go right now.”
Zane followed Obadiah up the stairs and out the door.
Thalia walked back to the table, giving her mom a worried glance. She finished the last few problems on her homework, and stood up to help Nyir with the food.
"This isn't right," she mumbled to herself. She reached into her pocket, pulling out her phone. Obadiah's card fell out. She picked it up, her eyes conflicted, and glanced over at Thalia. "Hey, you go ahead and start eating," she said, "I'll be back in a minute."
"Okay…" she said glancing at the card. She started eating, as Nyir left the room.
Sitting on the edge of her bed, she stared down at her phone. She glanced off to the side, where her husband's glasses and book lay covered in dust and untouched. She was alone now, and soon Thalia would be alone. Bills were piling up, light bills, medical bills. She needed to make sure Thalia was taken care of. With a deep breath, she dialed the number.
Thalia finished eating, stood up, and went to her room. She pulled her notebook out of her desk, laid on her bed, and started drawing. She drew a picture of her mom, her and her dad. She smiled and put her notebook away, then fell asleep.
(Hey @Ladybug_Fly_Away_Home Do you mind if Zane's number is the one on the card?)
(Yah that’s fine)
Zane stopped midway through the door of Obadiah's house. "Could you give me a moment? I'm getting a phone call," Zane told him, before picking his up his phone and pressing it to his ear. "Hello, Zane speaking. Who is this?"
Obadiah smiled, expecting that must be Nyir, who he spoke to earlier. She must have made her decision…
(Bumpity bump)
Nyir's heart pounded as she listened to the voice on the line. It wasn't Obadiah, although she really shouldn't be surprised. She took a deep breath. "This is Nyir, from the store earlier. Listen, I'd like to…join your business venture." She wasn't really sure what to say.
"Oh hello there, love. I was expecting a call from you," Zane said as he walked back inside Obadiah's house. "Ex-military, correct? It seems you're having a hard time keeping a good job, aren't you? Seeing as you were working as a cashier." His voice was light and happy, which wasn't even a front.
She didn't even want to question how he knew all of that. "Yes, that's correct," she said in a level voice. "I need money, and I need it fast. I'm willing to do essentially anything."
"Well that works for me. I would like to meet you and discuss more in person," Zane explained. "Are you free tomorrow?"
(Bump?)
Obadiah watched Zane with interest, assuming it was Nyir who called. A slow smile formed over his mouth and he walked closer to hear more of their conversation. He liked training the newbies; it was always fun watching the look on their face when they sold their first bag.
Cat walked down the street with a trash bag in her hand and a new black eye. ”Hey, can I come over?” She texts Obadiah.
