(hello, I have escaped to backstage lol)
(yo)
Mike undid his seat belt, scanning the building sharply. "Well, those stairs aren't gonna climb themselves. Let's get this over with, shall we?"
"Might as well. I would mojo us up there but I'm worried about my magic regeneration. Don't wanna run dry on accident in case we have to fight our way through the gate."
"Yeah, let's hope it doesn't come to that." He let Red out of the truck and joined the other two by the front door.
Asura shifted in his seat, still very much asleep and not wanting to go anywhere.
Pluto poked Asura. "Hey. You gotta be awake for this so we can get you through the gate. You can sleep when we get to Gandelheim," she said quietly, not wanting to startle the king
"Come on, Asura, I thought you wanted to get out of here," Mike called.
"Agh," he said, batting her hand away. "Five more minutes."
Mike rolled his eyes. "Hey, kid, you wanna spend the rest of your life relying on Pluto for everything, or do you wanna get a move on? I'm not waiting for you."
"Dude, I promise you can sleep when the reapers get us. Here," she said, pulling an energy drink out of her duffel bag
"I'm not a kid," he mumbled into his arm.
"Just take the damn energy drink and chug it so we can get through the portal," the angel grumbled
He lifted himself and climbed out of the truck, absently taking the drink from Pluto. "Thanks," he said quietly.
"Yeah. Chug that real quick, we have a shit ton of stairs to climb."
(gotta go you guys, see you all tomorrow)
(Okay, seeya ^^)
(do you think we can get up to the gate and then wait for Asura?)
(I think so, I honestly can't wait to meet Samandriel XD)
(well I hope I don't disappoint lol) Pluto took a deep breath. She had never wanted to see Samandriel again, but she had to face him sooner or later. She walked up to the broken doors and was blasted by a wave of heat. She blinked in surprise, but did a double take at the state of the lobby. It was lavish, black marble tile with a red carpet leading directly to the center desk. The walls were made of gold accented white marble, and it was oddly hot. The lobby wasn't empty either. Black-skinned women in white veils stood silently at intervals around the red carpeting, and a few more stood in different spots in the room. Right in front of the desk, a girl in a fancy dress who didn't look older than 11 hovered above the ground
"I suppose that's not an ordinary little girl," Mike said quietly.
"Nope. She's a lesser god, and Samandriel's right hand man. Let me do the talking, don't mention what she looks like, and don't stare at any of the Ladies of the Veil. They're like the weeping angels of Doctor Who, but worse." Pluto walked up to the girl. "Lillith. A pleasure to see you again." The little girl smiled, long black hair falling away from her face as she made an attempt to make herself taller. Her floating crown of black metal twirled a little.
"Erica Westen. Or do you still tell yourself you deserve to be called Pluto?" The little girl grinned at the angel, red-orange eyes flickering to Mike and the others. "And it looks like you've brought gifts! Who knew that after 200 years the famous thief would turn herself in along with the creatures that somehow managed to go where they don't belong. Mike, I believe? As well as Red and Asura?"
Mike nodded respectfully but said nothing.
Lillith gave Pluto a wide, creepy grin. "Oh, tell them not to speak did you? Cute, really. Well, it's time for your appointment with Samandriel!" She floated over to an elevator to the right of the desk. The veiled women turned to look at them, and two of the women that held spears moved behind the group. Pluto began to walk forward, and as the group followed Lillith the creatures fell into a formation that surrounded them
Mike took up the rear, making sure the others stayed close and keeping a discreet but sharp eye on the guards.
The elevator opened, folding and expanding to accommodate the size of their group. Lillith's grin widened. "So, what convinced you to give up, Erica? Tired of searching for a dead guardian? Or maybe…" The girl's grin grew ever-wider. "Maybe you wanted to see your family again? I can assure you they love Eden. Your father can drink all the whiskey he pleases, and your mother can bomb as many of her kinsmen as she wants." The girl giggled, and Pluto stayed silent. Lillith pouted. "Aww, don't be like that! Don't worry, you'll see them when your services are no longer needed."
