Darren went over by Lillian and looked at the book she was holding. "It's shiny."
Darren went over by Lillian and looked at the book she was holding. "It's shiny."
Lillian let out a small laugh, "Do you know what book this is?"
Darren nodded, "A shiny one!"
Lillian let out a louder laugh, "It's a player handbook, for D&D."
Darren nodded a little slower, confusion already growing on his face.
Lillian looked at him, "How much about D&D do you know?"
(oh god this is literally so cute imma go die)
"D&D stands for Dungeons and Dragons… That's just about it…"
Lillian handed him the player hand book, "Okay so Dungeons and Dragons, otherwise known as D&D, is a role playing adventure game. There's one dungeon master who controls the story, and players who create characters to play the story with. You with me so far?"
"Mhmm." Darren nodded. Squinting at the book like it might explode if he stops staring at it.
"So that book," She put her hand on the book. It might have purposefully brushed against Darren's hand, "Is the player's handbook. Inside it is instructions for the players to follow. Like how to create a character, play the game, and cast spells."
"Spells?" Darren repeated "Sweet!"
"Yeah!" Lillian smiled, "My favorite class to play as would either be a bard, who is a traveling musician, or a sorcerer, someone with innate magical talent."
Darren nodded and smiled at Lillian.
Lillian looked to Darren, "So, uh, what do you think?"
"Sounds like fun!"
"Really?" Lillian's eyes had this sparkle to them, "So you would want to play sometime?"
"Definitely! Assuming you continue to be my teacher I think I'll pick it up fast."
"Of course!" Lillian ran up and hugged him. Her old D&D group had disbanded after a few too many arguments, leaving her all alone to build a new group.
Darren laughed and hugged her back picking her up off her feet. He set her back down "Anything else I should know while we're here?"
Lillian was beaming, 'Well, any comics you're interested in?"
"Comics? Like Archie and Clavin and Hobbes?" Darren looked confused again.
Lillian shook her, "No, like Captain America. Or Wonder Women. Though those two are technically also comics, just of a different degree."
Darren's confused look only grew. "My uncle used to give me his Flash and Superman comics to read… Like those?"
"Yeah," Lillian nodded her head quickly, "Like those."
