"Maybe she'll feel better when she comes back tomorrow." Darren sympathetically smiled at Lillian. "What even happened?"

"To put it simply," Lillian sighed, sitting down and putting her head in her hands, "Betrayal of the highest degree by her friends."

"Man, that sucks. She has us though. I hope she knows we wouldn't hurt her." Darren looked into Lillian's eyes, his anxiety returning.

Lillian looked back and smiled, "I really hope she does. If not we'll make it known right?"

"Of course! I pledge to always be loyal and true to my friends!" Lloyd put his hand over his heart and bowed.

"A pledge huh?" Darren laughed but never took his eyes off of Lillian.

"Yes, of course. Or covenant, vow… whatever term you prefer."

Lillian's eyes closed as she let out a melodic laugh because of Lloyd, "Maybe we should all take a pledge."

"To be loyal friends?" Darren asked confused.

"To stick with each other through thick and thin," Lillian said giggling, "And be true to ourselves. Relationships can change people if they feel pressured to change."

Darren's smiled faded at Lillian's words. He sighed, "Right, yeah. We should."

"I vow to stay loyal, true, and forever faithful to my companions. I will lay down my own life if necessary, and protect them from harm. After all, I have been trained." Lloyd pulled a bow from the back of his hoodie. The ends were sharpened like swords, and he seemed able to handle it well. Like he said, he had been trained in the usage of this weapon.

Lillian watched as Darren's smile faded, "Did I say something wrong?"

Darren looked at her and tried to regain his smile, even though it was fake. "No, no, you-you're fine." He stammered nervously.

"I did didn't I?" Lillian looked down and rubbed her arm, "Sorry."

Darren reached over and touched her arm reassuringly, "No, it was perfect, you didn't do a thing wrong." Darren laughed, "And with the vow stuff, I vow to do what Lloyd said."

(I'm just over here laughing bc Lillian and Darren are so chill with Lloyd literally being armed and trained in battle)

(The real reason Darren is stuttering nervously; he fears for his life right now!)

Lillian looked back at him with a small smile on her face, "Okay. And I vow to do whatever Lloyd just said, minus the bow."

"Really? You would lay down your life? I thought that sort of thing was uncommon for humans…" Lloyd twirled the bow between his fingers.

(I'm just over here laughing bc Lillian and Darren are so chill with Lloyd literally being armed and trained in battle)
