Lillian looked to the door, she should get Neal. She looked back to Darren, “I’m going to go get Neal. Will you be alright if I go?”
Lillian looked to the door, she should get Neal. She looked back to Darren, “I’m going to go get Neal. Will you be alright if I go?”
He tried to tell her not to got but his words wouldn't come out. This is what his seizure felt like last time, like his brain just wouldn't work with him.
Lillian didn’t get a response. But it felt like she should stay. Yet she needed to go and get help. What to do? What to do?!
One of his hands reached into the air and twisted itself, yet, it was like he was reaching for something. Some kind of support. He couldn't see anything anymore but he could hear Lillian, he missed her voice.
Lillian quickly grabbed both of his hands. She rubbed the back of his with her thumb, “I’m here babe. I’m right here.”
He made a noise so she knew that he heard her but it didn't sound like words just mumbling as he leaned into her, his body quaking and jerking randomly.
Lillian kept a hold of one hand while the other hugged him close to her. She continued to speak, “I’ve got you. Your okay. I’m okay. This is all okay.” At this point she was trying calm herself down from having a panic attack over the fact her boyfriend was having a fucking seizure.
He held onto the sound of her voice, it's all he had. His vision was dark and everything smelt weird but he could hear her. He couldn't always comprehend what she was saying but he knew she was there with him. He was scared out of his mind and he had no control.
Lillian tried to think of something to talk to him about. Her voice wavered as she thought before launching into stories about what Leo and her used to do as children. How they would always joke around while tiptoeing around their parents.
His shaking stopped, all but the lingering tremor in his hand. It seemed his seizure was over and his hand was still protesting as it always did. He pushed against her, he still couldn't see but that didn't matter because his eyes were squeezed shut in fear.
Lillian paused. She hugged him tighter and whispered quietly, “I’m right here.” Was it over?
It was over and his body was recovering from the electrical stimulation of the seizure. "I-I… Heerrm… s-s–s-sorry,"
His voice. Oh god his voice right now, “Don’t be.”
His voice was low and shaky but it was him, "Sc-c-c-ared?"
Lillian sighed in slight relief, “For your well being yes.”
"Mm'ok," he mumbled. Of course he was 'okay', you could hit the man with a truck and he'd be the first to say he was okay.
Let’s not test that theory. She held Darren closer, “You’re not okay.”
He nodded in protest, "Mm'f-f-fine," He opened his eyes, everything was blurry and too bright.
“I am not going to believe that,” Lillian said in a tart tone, “Until you can say it clearly. I’m just worried about you. Nothing is going to change that.”
Darren sighed and nuzzled into her, he would wait until he could say it clearly.
Lillian smiled and she kept holding him close. Like the moment she let go everything would go to shit again.
He moved just enough that he could wrap his arms around her, "I am fine," he whispered.
Lillian wanted to sob. He was fine, “Okay, I believe you now.”
He kissed her cheek gently, his face still hot from the fever that hadn't faded away but was better than before. "I'm s-sorry,"
Lillian sighed and nuzzled against him, “Don’t be. Please.”
