"Eira, answer me. I am princess. You must not forget." She hated talking too much. It was too painful.
"Eira, answer me. I am princess. You must not forget." She hated talking too much. It was too painful.
Eira’s darkness found Calla, creating the shape of an arrow, pointing her in the right direction. Eira was now sitting on the rim of the balcony, staring at the moon.
"Say something. You know I'm blind." She held her arms limply by her side, her mind reeling from the pain that she was accepting. Just the notion of having to walk sent chills up her spine.
“Balcony…” She said.
Calla walked towards Eira and sat three feet away from her. "Are you okay."
“Fine, highness…” Eira took her gaze from the moon and with one hand created a small, baby dragon and let it fly off into night.
"Right." Calla sighed.
“What would you like me to say?” She looked at Calla, “That I object to Kyan bringing in someone from…from…. Anahera? That even though I value your well being above all else I don’t want someone from another tribe to be within twenty feet of you?!”
"He says the Anaheran will help. I trust Kyan. He trusts me. He wouldn't try anything stupid. He knows I can kill him." She took long pauses after each sentence, trying to catch her breath.
Eira hung her head, “I know,” A butterfly of darkness flew round Calla’s head, “I still don’t like it…”
"Maybe it will do us some good. I wonder how the Anaheran can help. It will be fascinating to see." Calla folded her arms.
Eira let the butterfly land on her hand, “I don’t care, as long as it makes you feel better…”
"Of course." She nodded.
“I’m sorry for… for leaving so abruptly….” Eira apologised and let the butterfly disappear, “And for losing control…”
"It's okay. That is expected. You must be grateful that I will not torture you."
Eira smiled a little, “I feel it in the bottom of my soul.”
"You have a soul? Intriguing. And here I thought we weren't supposed to have humanity." Calla stood up and started off towards her room. "Come. Stop wallowing in your despair."
Eira shook her head to hide her grin, following Calla, “What if I like the despair?”
"We welcome despair when it comes, but we do not wallow in it. Do not hold onto sadness or anger longer than you should."
“Always the wise one, highness.”
"Perhaps." Calla clasped her hands together and opened the door to her bedchamber. The smell of lavender and other herbal scents filling her nose as she walked in. Incense was in the corners and aloe plants lined the tables, with crystals for healing hung on the ceiling.
“I forgot how nice your chambers are…” Eira said.
"More like heavily perfumed. It's like a witch's room. Kyan thinks the herbs and crystals might help and yeah, they sort of calm me down. But the pain doesn't lessen."
Eira sat in a near by chair, “I understand as well as I can, I’m sorry you have to put up with this.”
"Don't be." Calla sat on her bed.
