Eira toasted but was still in a state of shock. ”My sister’s salvation.”
The words rang though her like a bell. Yes, she wanted to stop Calla feeling the pain she was constantly in but… how?
“Majesty? What do you mean by her Highness salvation?” She asked carefully, not wanting Kyan’s wrath on her.
"Ah well, I can't divulge the plan now. It's been set into motion, but I haven't gotten results. I wouldn't want to bring my dear sister's hopes up, would I?" Kyan laughed. "Trust me, Eira, you'll be the first to know. Other than my darling Calla, of course."
Eira gave a wicked grin, one the sent people fleeing, “Or course, Majesty.” She rose her glass to her king and took a sip.
The other guests looked away, chills running down their spines, but Kyan grinned right back.
Maybe Kyan wasn’t so bad after all? Yes, she still disliked him but he shared the same wickedness she did. They rush of killing someone, torturing them. For once Eira didn’t pay attention to Calla, but instead in her King.
Calla was interested, heart racing, but the very thought of it felt impossible. Nothing could help her. She wasn't in pain, she didn't deliver pain, she was pain.
“When do you think you’ll get results, Majesty? I don’t mean to pry into the plan so… openly with all ears to hear but now you have mentioned it, I’m thoroughly intrigued.” She took a small bite of her food.
"Eira, you're prying. You do still know that you're a guard, not an esteemed guest?" Kyan shook his head, finger wagging. "The only person that gets to know, is Calla. Come, my dear sister."
Calla stood up, knees buckling, but she brought herself up, ignoring the tearing pain that ripped through her everyday.
"What is it, my king?" She couldn't call him Kyan anymore. He wasn't Kyan anyway.
"I have the most special surprise for you. They should be coming soon. Hopefully."
“Sorry, Majesty.” Eira said. Yes, he was right. She was a guard and nothing more. She couldn’t forget that.
"They? A person?" Calla couldn't breathe. Her throat felt like it was being strangled as she took big, gasping breaths, trying to calm herself down.
"Yes. A person. Well, barely. People from Anahera don't deserve to be called human. They're too weak."
Eira kept her breathing steady even though she wanted to protest and scream. Annahera?! Really, that was the King’s grand plan. Bring in someone from Anahera!
"I don't understand."
"You will, Small Bean Sprout." Kyan reached out, to pat her head, but pulled back after he remembered what touching Calla did.
Her nickname. He hadn't called her that in years. "Of course."
Eira breathed in deep, trying to calm down. She’d have to spar after this, again.
"Now Eira, when the person of interest comes, I want you to escort them, show them how things work here, okay?" Kyan smiled, leaning back in his seat.
(GTG)
Eira returned the smile, “It would be my pleasure, Majesty.”
(Seeya!)
"Mhm." Kyan smiled. "Please, eat."
“If you would excuse me, Majesty, I have to run a perimeter check,” She lied, standing, “Thank you for inviting me.” She bowed and left the room, not heading to the perimeter but to the sparing ring.
Eira didn’t bother changing but headed straight for the ring, grabbing a sword and hurling it at the wall, tears in her eyes. No, Anahera?! She hurled another, That’s not right. She collapsed on the floor, head in her hands.
Calla stood up. "May I be excused?" She asked, in a bare wisp of a voice. "I'm not hungry, nor do I feel like being in the presence of others."
Eira looked up for a second to look at the stars outside, the darkness that they were wrapped in. Darkness she held in her hands, that she could control. Maybe that was the reason she preferred night to day…
Calla left and started walking towards the arena. Eira.
Eira didn’t notice when Calla entered the area, she was so absorbed in the sky, thinking about what Kyan’s plan to being someone from Anahera. Anahera The world clanged through her.
"Eira. Where are you," Calla ordered, her face expressionless.
Eira had never lost control of her emotions like this before, never. Her darkness started to swirl around her, some trying to escape the room, sliding under the door. If anyone saw then… she didn’t care at the moment.
