Mitsig withdrew his hand gratefully. Being touched was one of his least favorite things. He cradled his hand close to his chest, eyeing him. "So? A-am I telling the truth?"
Mitsig withdrew his hand gratefully. Being touched was one of his least favorite things. He cradled his hand close to his chest, eyeing him. "So? A-am I telling the truth?"
Dexter blinked. "Hold up I gotta double check this."
River walked up to Dexter, "What's it say?"
"He-He's telling the truth."
"Whoa." Ellen glanced at Mitsig. "Just, whoa."
"That means he came for us," River counted it off with his fingers, "Is from the future. And the future sucks so bad that they needed us."
"So what happened that's so bad that you need us?" Ellen asked.
"A bad organization invents t-time travel in about…" he glanced at a computer screen, noting the date. April 11. "In about two weeks. Th-this invention might be the reason things go bad. But it also might not be."
"So do you want us to create a time machine?" River looked at him.
"Okay, so we go in, bust up some computers and what not, and we're good? Cuz I can bust up computers like no one's business." Ellen stated, cracking her knuckles.
"I…" Mitsig swallowed hard. "I don't know what you need to do. Th-there's no way of telling. H-have you ever heard of the butterfly effect, applied to time travel?"
"Uuuhhh." Ellen scratched her head. "Maybe?"
"Yeah, it's where if you do something small in the past it can affect the future in a big way," River said.
"Exactly." Mitsig looked disturbed. "Since I physically time trav-traveled back in t-time, who knows? My existence m-might cause a huge change. Or it c-could have caused the future I c-came from."
"Then why did you come here? There's a high possibility that you just made the future worse." Liam pointed out.
"We –we're desperate," Mitsig said, his eyes starting to burn. "We didn't know what, what else to do."
"Okay then." Ellen cracked her knuckles again. "So you got any plan? At all?"
Mitsig made a face. "You're the geniuses."
"I say we bust up the time tech. What company invents it?"
"The company is called Strath," he replied. "Th-they're based in near here. B-but, think for a second. If you dest-destroy their tech, who's to say that doesn't cause the bad future? O-or, what if someone else invents it? It m-might not work."
"Well what can we do then?! If we play this too cautiously, we could screw up the future that way!" Ellen threw her hands up.
Mitsig reached into his pocket slowly. He wasn't sure if they trusted him yet and he didn't want them to think he was reaching for a weapon. He withdrew a piece of paper. "A-all that needs to happen is, is that a time machine is not invented and made public by midnight, April 25. W-we theorize that –that that would fix it."
River looked at the paper, "Can I see that?"
"Alright then. We go and bust up the tech right before midnight then! Easy peezy!"
Mitsig clutched the paper to his chest. "T-too much information about –about your personal futures," he whispered. "S-sorry." He turned back to the other girl, Ellen. "B-but what if it doesn't work? You need a failsafe."
