Marcus laughed and nodded slightly. “I figured you've never been to one before. Much less one by the ocean.”
Marcus laughed and nodded slightly. “I figured you've never been to one before. Much less one by the ocean.”
She smiled under the helmet "no I haven't.. Thank you.. "
“You're welcome.” he smiled back as a large Ferris wheel came into sight. “I hope you enjoy it.”
"I think I will.. " she said softly she started to cry it sounded like which was a peculiar thing seeing as though she had nothing to be sad about perhaps it was only because nobody had ever done anything for her like this and it just made her happy
Marcus slowed down when he felt her… It felt like she was trembling. “Are you alright?” he asked as he slowly pulled over to the side of the road and stopped.
"Yep I'm fine.. Really i am I just never had someone be this nice to me before… " she said chuckling a little
Marcus looked over at her, raising a brow slightly. “Really? No one? What about your family?”
Either was not the favorite child.. " she said with a pained smile "my brother treated me well but not like this… "
Marcus frowned a little and gently wrapped an arm around her, turning slightly for a better angle. He did remember her mentioning her brother and how he was the golden child… But he didn't remember her mentioning her parents or their blatant favoritism. “I’m sorry, Maria. I promise I’ll treat you right.”
Maria pulled the helmet off of her head being careful to not mess up her makeup and leaned against him "I don't mean to be a bother.. "
“Who said you were?” he asked gently with a small smirk, letting her lean on him as much as she wanted. “I told you that I'm an only child so I don't know what you went through. But I know that it wasn't right. I’m not saying your parents were bad or anything… It's just I don't get how no one… how you have gone through life without anyone treating you like this. I’m just trying to be a nice guy. I’m not doing anything too special.” he explained.
"But this is special..to me Marcus this is the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me. "
Marc sighed softly and nodded, not having any words as her gently brushed a strand of her hair back. He didn't know exactly why he felt so protective of her but he was going to do everything he could to make this the best summer vacation ever for her.
His touch caught her a little off guard but somehow it was comforting to her she smiled a little a light blush showing up on her face in a matter of seconds
“Sorry. Was that ok?” he asked, blushing a little as well.
"Yeah its okay I didn't mind… " she said softly looking up at him
“Alright.” he smiled softly, a little relieved. “Do you still want to go to the fair?” he asked even though he was fairly sure she would say yes.
"Oh yeah of course I'm sorry.. I kinda waisted a little time huh. "
“You don’t have to apologize.” he assured with a soft smile. “I just wanted to make sure you were ok.”
"Yeah I'm okay. " she said softly almost a whisper but she sounded a little happier now than before
His smile grew as he gave a brief nod. “Alright. Then let's go and win you the biggest prize we see.” he enthused, turning back and starting the bike back up. “Got the helmet back on?”
Maria smiled a little at his enthusiasm pulling the helmet back on "yeah I've got it dont worry "
He chuckled a little and carefully merged back on the road. The fairground wasn't much further away at this point but the music was growing steadily louder.
She held his waist again listening to the music with a smile on her face it's true she'd never gone to a carnival before so she was excited but a little nervous as well
Marcus was probably just as excited, but it wouldn't surprise him if he was wrong on that point. He turned into the main entrance and parked near the exit.
