“So, I've heard.” he smiled. “Though I've never actually been across the Atlantic and can't speak from experience. Except for the time I went to Seattle. It rains there almost all the time, or seems to anyway.”
“So, I've heard.” he smiled. “Though I've never actually been across the Atlantic and can't speak from experience. Except for the time I went to Seattle. It rains there almost all the time, or seems to anyway.”
"I debated on going to Seattle but chose against it. "
“Don't blame you. It's nice enough but… the beach isn't as nice as it is here.” he admitted, glancing at her phone again. “And it looks like you’ll get to see for yourself. The place your staying at is within walking distance from there.”
"That's why I rented it. " she said with a bright smile appearing on her face
“Of course, you did. Though I imagine it cost you a pretty penny.” he smiled back, hoping she didn't mind him using the expression.
" it's definitely worth it it's beautiful out her. " she really didn't mind all the questions he asked she was just glad to meet someone friendly on her first day
“I won't argue with that.” he laughed, glad that his day seems to have turned around. Sure, he would have to deal with those problems later but for now, it was nice to forget about them and just enjoy this surprisingly nice time.
"So do you have anything fun to do around here besides the beach? "
“Depends on your definition of fun.” he smiled a little mischievously. “Of course, there's some good nightclubs, a couple of concerts both on and off the beach. Umm, bonfires… occasionally. You know what, you just tell me what you like to do, or want to do while you're here, and I can recommend a few places.” he suggested.
"Well those actually sound like they could be pretty fun." She said laughing a little
Marcus laughed a little with her and nodded. “Yeah, they are! Especially this one hole-in-the-wall place. It's called The Beachfront but it's not actually on the beach. It's more in a basement with a lot of Tiki torches out front.”
"Sounds interesting, maybe I should try it out. "
“I think you should. It's a great place.” he nodded. “Hey, maybe I'll see you there sometime?”
"Maybe you will, " she said with a smirk
“Well, you got a fifty/fifty chance tonight.” he winked back. “I haven't made up my mind yet, but I've been debating between that place or the actual beach.”
Well why not both? We could " accidentally" bump into each other…." she looked down at her checkerd skirt and white blouse "after I go shopping that is. " she said with a chuckle
“Sure. That'll be fun.” he smiled. “Which would you like to “bump” into me at first?”
"Well I could show up at the club around 10 and then later on I could head to the beach and if someone happens to tag along I wouldn't complain. " she smiled back and ran her fingers through her hair
“Sounds like a plan.” he nodded. “I’ll meet you there. Ah. And it looks like this is your home for the summer.” he said, realizing that they had finally arrived.
"Holy shit. " she gasped and covered her mouth "sorry but this place is bigger than my apartment back in London! "
Marcus laughed a little at her surprised exclamation and shook his head. “It's alright. Though if London apartments are anything like the ones in New York, then I don't blame you.” he said, trying to assure her a little.
"Their incredibly small unless you pay ridiculously for something and even then you might as well buy a house. " she said laughing a little
“Yep. That’s how my friend describes the ones in New York.” he nodded, laughing with her.
"You wouldn't happen to know where any good stores are would you? "
“I know a few.” he nodded. “Actually, we passed a couple on the way here. Just a block or two back that way.”
