Blake cracked a weak grin. Zander reminded him a bit of the others back in the barracks. Well… after they were drunk and not as cruel as usual. "Thanks, but I really shouldn't be accepting a drink when I can't pay you back." He shook his head. He started to get guilty as he thought of everyone back in Dani's apartment. What would Ace say?
Zander laughed, "If you can't pay me back then why'd you get the first one. Besides being drunk by yourself is no fun."
"I just…" Blake attempted to come up with an excuse. "I'm not thinking all that straight at the moment. Just got some bad news." He croaked, starting to get choked up again. He took the next drink slid over to him and gulped it down quickly as well, thanking Zander.
"No problem Blake, just consider it a gift" Zander stifled as he realized his mistake. He prayed that he wouldn't notice and that he wouldn't be checking in to base with a body, and carefully watched Blakes expressions.
"Thanks for being so nice to me, man." Blake looked over at Zander with watery eyes. "What's in this stuff anyways? It's stronger than whiskey." Blake swirled the blue liquid around, examinating it with innocent fascination.
(hi guys. keep up the good work)
"It's Rozerem(sleeping medicine basically)." Zander said, pronouncing it Rozer-Rum, " And it's insanely strong."
(Thanks Hope! I was originally planning on Blake meeting Frankie at the party, but I think things are taking a different turn)
Blake drank the third shot before nodding in acknowledgement at Zander. "Never heard of it." He shrugged, letting out a large yawn. "Didn't sleep much last night." He grumbled, resting his head on the counter.
(Oh, that's cool! I like the way things are going and have a pretty good idea of how I'm gonna come into the story.)
(That's great! Thanks for being so patient with all of us while you wait!)
(Thanks @hope Berge)
"Man, are you Ok?" Zander watched as he laid his head on the counter. "Is there any place I can take you to lay or anything. I know first hand how crummy it is to fall asleep here."
(Sorry I took so long to reply :-) )
"I'm fine." Blake mumbled, his eyes fluttering shut for a few moments before flickering back open. "Just a rough night. Found out some bad past stuff."
"Ok but if you get too drunk just tell me, they have apartments above us." Zander said downing another 'shot' as Kata strolled around and purred against him.
"I'm not a lightweight." Blake protested, forcing himself to sit up. He felt strangely woozy after only three shots. The edges of his vision were already a bit blurred as well. But what's the harm of getting drunk in a unknown part of the city with a total stranger? "Is… Is that a cat?" Blake mumbled in confusion, looking down at Kata.
"Yeah, her names Kata and she's the heaviest drinker I know." Zander laughed. " And I say that with no sarcasm."
Zander also scared of where this might be going discreetly took medicine to keep him from getting drunk like before.
"The cat drinks." He repeated softly, confusion misting over his eyes. He hadn't even noticed the bartender sliding over another drink until it was directly in front of him. "I respect that." He shrugged, taking the shot as quickly as he had the others. "I kinda like this Roz-ar-rum, or whatever you called it." Blake was starting to slur his words a little. His body swayed unsteadily when he sat up, so he settled for slumping down on the counter again, letting his large wings droop over his shoulders.
(Ya know what. We can bend this so Blake comes to the dance, I love that idea. They meet when she enters, awkwardly looking for someone as lonely as she is. And ya know what else, I'll jump in tomorrow as she prepares for the ball that's a nice way to kind of introduce my character before throwing them into the story.)
(I hope I'm not coming off as bossy or self-centered I'm just really excited about this whole story.)
"Yeah, she's pretty cool, and that Rozer-Rum is pretty strong." Zander said, "You gotta be careful, I've seen men twice your size knock out after their third round of the stuff." Zander put his hand on Blake's shoulder, "So tell me who's the girl? And before you say it's not about one, you should know… It's always about a girl."
(Yes *terrible flashback * yes he is.)
"It sort of is…" Blake looked up at Zander from where his chin rested on the table. "B-But most of it's got to do with my family." Blake's voice caught in his throat. He was starting to get worked up again.
(NOO DON'T CRY D': PLEASEEEEEEEEE )
