"Hey! What's up?" Skylar asked, joining the group of boys huddled in the kitchen.

Blake tensed at the sound of the girl's voice and lost his balance on the edge of the couch. He toppled backwards and landed with a thump on the floor, sending a few feathers into the air. His cheeks grew red as Ace laughed at him. Blake quickly got to his feet and shook out his wings.

Ace laughed, and laughed, and then laughed so hard, he fell onto the ground, looking like shaking ball of laughter.

Shocked at the sudden movement, Skylar giggled. "Are you all right?" She asked.

"Blake…"laughter,"Fell over…."hahaha!"And.." gasp,"it was so…"more laughter,"Funny!" Ace wheezed and laughed and pointed at Blake, doubling over with laughter as he tried to stand up.

"Fine. I'm fine." He brushed himself off and sat back down next to Ace. Throwing him an annoyed glare. "I should've killed you when I had the chance." Blake mumbled, his face still red from embarrassment.

"Wow. Ok." Skylar replied. Walking over to Peter she took his hand. "Hey. Long time no see" she laughed, brushing her hair away from her face.

Ace scoffed, "Like you actually could've. The tiny cinnamon roll that is Blake couldn't possibly murder someone in cold blood. Besides, what would Dani say?"

"I'm a soldier, Ace. I uhh… I mean I might've killed before…" Blake trailed off, realizing he's seen soldiers kill, but he'd never done it himself. "The point is I'm trained to kill. Dani can organize your funeral." He retorted quickly, becoming defensive. "What's your obsession with Dani and I anyways? I just met her and I just met you! Plus, it'd be against code for me to date a rebel." Blake said confidently, trying to convince both himself and Ace.

Ace grabbed Blake's shoulders and stared into his eyes, "So you're saying that you've turned gay because of me? That's sweet, but I'm already dating someone." he patted Blake on the head and watched with satisfaction as Blake processed Ace's words.

"Wait, what? But…" Blake stammered, red faced. "No! I didn't mean…" He fumbled for the right words to use. To make things worse, he knew Ace was taking satisfaction in making him flustered. Blake gave up and let out a defeated sigh, fiddling absentmindedly with the small braid in his hair.

"Do you want me to make another braid?" Ace asked, his face emulated hope.

"Do you want to make another braid?" Blake raised an eyebrow at him. To be honest, he liked having his hair played with, but he'd never admit that to Ace. He tried to remain cocky, while trying to scratch at the back of his wing that had gained an itch.

"Yes." Ace grinned.

"Knock yourself out." Blake shrugged.

Ace's face lit up and he scooted next to Blake, running his hands through his hair, "Why do you have so many tangles? You need to brush your hair more often"

"I don't think I've used a brush in years, my hair's normally short." Blake admitted sheepishly. "I don't really like it this long, but if I get it cut, Commander's gonna make me get a buzz cut and I hate that even more." He muttered bitterly.

"Maybe Dani has a hairbrush. Oh wait! I can't ask her, it's going to be a surprise so you can woo your girl." Ace grabbed a section of Blake's hair and braided it, absentmindedly singing to himself.

"I'm not trying to woo her or anyone else." Blake said stubbornly, a scowl on his face.

"Come on skinny love just last the year, pour a little salt we were never here, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, staring at the sink of blood and crushed veneer." Ace whisper-sang as his hands moved nimbly between Blake's hair. He ignored Blake's defensive stance and didn't answer.

Blake didn't say another word, listening to Ace sing with vague amusement. He shut his eyes, and let his wings relax and droop over his shoulders.

Ace finished the braid and tied it. He stared at Blake's ears and then blew into them.
