(I feel like Pine is more of a chaotic, scatterbrained type person, still efficient at what he does but extremely confusing)
Kirsten stood up.
"I can walk. And I've been part of a Girls Scouts type thing for 7 years, so I know a trick or two about survival." she told Pine.
"Oh, thank God," Pine murmured exasperatedly. "I'm trying to remember everything Brendon and Avery (his dads) taught me, but I literally have no clue what I'm doing."
Cassie took a deep breath, finished dressing Mr. Nikolas's wounds. She laid back onto the ground. "I could help, but y'know….." She gestured towards her leg.
"Yeah, you need to stay here. Are you able to take care of the injured… like you're, umm… sort of already doing?
Cassie laughed. "Yes."
The teacher closed his eyes to drift asleep. It seemed better than trying to fight it and face the pain; so, sleep it is.
"Okay, well… Come on, Kirsten."
Kirsten followed Pine into the trees.
"Birch bark is great for kindling." she commented, looking around. "And I think I saw a few edible plants when I was with Lucy and Mr. Nikolas."
Just as they mentioned Lucy's name, she had just reached them, and had fallen to her knees, pained expression on her face. She looked up, "Whoever's going to look for water, bring something to take some back. We'll need it for wounds. Look downhill."
Cassie motioned to Lucy. "Come here. Let me see how bad your wounds are."
Lucy crawled to Cassie and lifted her arm, displaying the wound in her side
Kirsten shook her head. "This is bad. We don't have half the things we need to take care of all these injuries, and that's if nobody has any internal bleeding." She sighed deeply.
"I'm going to try and search the wreckage, maybe there's something we can use."
She walked up to a pile of sheet metal and gingerly pushed it aside. Beneath, there was a blanket, a crushed can of soda and a pair of earbuds. She hung her head and picked up the blanket.
(I am going to be out of comission for most of today, Lucy can go unconcious, or sit quiet, or even try to help if ya need her to.)
(Sorry for being MIA yesterday. I had school and then had to volunteer at a fundraiser.)
Callie looked at the wreckage. She couldn’t believe everything that has happened. Her classmates were on the verge of dying. All for what? A field trip to Alaska? They were expected to be back home in less than a week! They’ve been stranded in the middle of a forest, miles away from home for some days. Maybe longer! Maybe that week already passed. Who knows how long everyone was out for. Maybe they all were in a monthlong coma and just woke up a few days ago.
Callie was supposed to be looking for water and supplies, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that it was all for naught. She remembered her family. They were waiting for her back at home. She couldn’t bear the thought of her family expecting her to come back, only to hear about her assumed death! The look on her little brothers face would be heartbreaking…
No. They’ll survive. They’ll make it out alive. They just needed to heal each other’s wounds and find a way back home. She continued down the hill hoping for something positive. There just had to be something!
All these thoughts swirled Callie’s mind as she approached the base of the hill. She saw a river. She took her leather bag that she found earlier and scooped some of the water. Hopefully none of the water would leak out while she walked back. She was about to head back when she noticed something shiny in the water. A fishing rod was floating down. She grabbed it and looked for its origins.
There must be some sort of human life up the river!
With the bag of water, fishing rod, and newfound knowledge, Callie ran back up the hill to tell the news.
Callie reached the campsite with an excited expression. “Guys! Look what I found!” she exclaimed holding up the fishing rod.
Her exclamation startled Mr. Nikolas awake, now that his frayed senses were recharged with a brief nap. "O-oh— woahh," he inhaled, squinting at his surroundings.
Callie turned at the sound. “Hm? Oh, sorry Mr. Nikolas. Did I wake you? I was just about to tell everyone what I found down at the river..”
"River?" Pine inquired distractedly, fishing through the wreckage for supplies. He'd already discovered two suitcases, one of them being his.
“Yeah, I found this fishing pole floating down the river! That must mean someone dropped it in! Someone was fishing! There are people that aren’t us! There could even be a town nearby! Then we could figure out where we are and get back home. Isn’t this great? Even if that isn’t true, we still have a fresh water source and probably fish! And we have a fishing rod!” Callie exclaimed excitedly.
"This is amazing!!" Pine replied, ecstatic. Even if they didn't find anyone, they still had a chance at survival.
"What in the hell happened?" Mr. Nikolas groaned cluelessly, "Did we land? What?"
Pine jumped, startled. Mr. Nikolas never cussed. None of the teachers did. "N-no, we crashed. We're somewhere in Canada, if I'm correct."
