Perfect! I'll get a starter up as soon as possible
( @In_the_mud, I feel like our girls would either be mortal enemies or good friends lol.)
(I was thinking enemies to besties)
(I accept this.)
(So, when do we start?)
(shhhhh I had forgotten about this shhhhh)
(Oh, ok)
(bump?)
The Sun looked down at the mortals from their perch in the sky, frowning into their hands. They were so lonely… The humans needed more friends, ASAP. Oh! They had an Idea… They ran across the halls, skidding to a stop outside the darkened hall that housed The Moon. "MOONY I HAVE AN IDEA!" The Sun screeched, waking up a very tired Moon from his slumber.
"Sunny, love of my life, you're the best, but what the actual fuck?"
"I'm going to make the humans be friends!"
"You're going to- What-" The Moon knew better than to try and stop his beloved from whatever idea they had so… He supposed he would help them with this… ploy.
"I already sent out the notes!" The Sun smiled widely and pulled out a letter from their cloak, one that would be appearing in the mailboxes of every specially picked mortal.
It read:
Dear Mortals, The Sun here!
I've decided that all of you are very lonely and need friends And an education, what are they even teaching you in human schools? Algebra? so here we are! The address is on the back, please make your way there! There's no admission fee so don't worry!
Love, The Sun (And The Moon)
Tempest looked down at the note she got, chuckling out of bewilderment and disbelief. "The sun? Who sent this? Do they think I'm a child who still draws faces on astral bodies?" She let out a chuckle and placed the note down on her bedside drawer. Tempest, not having school that day, decided they would look to see what this was about and then leave. "Let's hope this isn't a kidnapping ploy."
Yuli was in the community garden, laying in the soft bed of grass next to the turnips he was growing. They took a deep sigh as they looked up into the blue-orange sky and noticed a piece of paper laying right next to his face. He sighed "No littering in the garden y'all" they said. There was nobody around him though, all the other people had left a few minutes ago. "Huh, weird" he grabbed the paper as it drifted across the soil in the wind, reading the note on the front. "The sun and the moon huh?" They said to themself. They believed in higher beings, deities of sorts, but he didn't believe in direct contact between humans and those beings. They turned the paper over… an address was written on the back. "This feels… strangely important." They got up and went to their car, which was across from the garden area, and put the address into his phone "I'm gonna check it out"
(https://photos.app.goo.gl/M177nk7o3Ur9pVscA Tgis is what Yuli looks like btw)
(For a second I misread Yuli as Yugi and I thought your character was Yugi Muto for Yugioh. lol.)
Taegan didn't want to do homework. Yes, his grades were suffering because he always turned his work in late and yes, he would be in huge trouble if he didn't sit his butt down at the table and finish his math worksheet. However, at that moment, he couldn't bring himself to care.
He stared blankly at the paper on the table, glinting ominously white in the light from his lamp, before he made up his mind not to do it. He didn't even understand the content, so what was the use of trying?
His professor was going to kill him.
He made his way outside, not sure what he was going to do. Maybe he would go for a run or something, anything that didn't involve homework. His eyes fell on the mailbox, and he shrugged and walked over, deciding to check it out.
There was the usual inside, a few bills. some advertisements for new credit cards and… there, at the bottom! A letter addressed to him! He frowned, sticking the rest of the mail in the mailbox before ripping his open and reading the letter. He glanced at the content, shrugged, and decided to go. There wasn't any reason not to, right?
Solana stared out the window, watching the cars drive past below her. She lived in an apartment right next to a bustling street, and the constant noise and chatter had gotten so ingrained into her brain that she wasn't sure she would be able to sleep without it.
Her roommate came in, and the brunette glanced back, meeting Rebecca's eyes for a moment and smiling slightly before she turned back to the window.
"You look bored," her roommate observed, dropping her stuff by the door.
"What? What are you talking about?" Sol asked, snickering and turning away. "I'm never bored, don't lie."
Rebecca just raised an eyebrow at her, then handed her a letter. "This was addressed to you. I don't know from who, but whoever it is, they clearly don't know that civilized humans text or call instead."
Solana took the letter and shook her head. "I don't know anyone who would try and write me a letter…" She opened the letter and scanned it, a frown gradually growing between her eyebrows. When she finished, she stared off into space for a moment, a feeling of unease growing inside her that she couldn't quite shove down.
“… the back, please make your way there. There's no admission fee so don't worry. Love, The Sun and The Moon.”
Her mother stood at the foot of the table, watching Odessa and her father expectantly as she handed the letter over to Odessa. Neither said anything, her father still intent on sipping his coffee and reading his newspaper. Odessa sat silently, her lips pressed into a firm line as she regarded the letter. She looked over the writing, all swirls and perfection. The Sun and The Moon…?
“This letter was addressed to me. You of all people should know it’s a federal crime to open other people’s mail mother-”
“That is hardly important at the-”
“I think it’s very important-”
“What is important, Odessa,” Her mother growled, “is the fact that our efforts have been notices. And wherever that address leads, you’re going.” There was a finality to her words that Odessa knew she wasn’t going to fight. She wouldn’t win. So she turned to her father. Her family seldom displayed common sense but hopefully, in this moment, she could get her father to see how strange this was. How strange she thought this was.
“Father, this is absurd. You’re going to let her send me off on some whim and a letter?” Odessa’s eyes were pleading, even though her father didn’t look her way.
“I trust her judgment. And if anything goes awry, we’ll take care of you.” He muttered, and then flipped to the next page of his paper. He wasn’t saying anymore. That was it.
“AXEL! Get Odessa’s things together.” Her mother shouted, her satisfaction evident. “I’ll start your car. Go get ready to leave, Odessa.”
She obeyed, however unwillingly. There were not biting words or sharp quips for her to toss at the moment, so she gave a sigh and made her way up to her room.
Drake had just woken up when he received the mail. He read it without any surprise. "Getting messages from Elder Gods… The last time I got messages from the Sun or Moon was a while ago. Whatever." Drake stood up. He grabbed the note and his car keys. "Goodbye, calculus…" He mumbled and started driving towards the address.
(do our characters know they're chosen/have magic @Faerie_System?)
(Yes! But not how to control it well!)
Yuli looked at his gps as he drove. Everytime he turned the wheel, he felt like he was getting closer to something extremely important. Like the gps was a map and this location was the treasure. They fiddled with their earring, entrenched in thought. These people knew about their magic, they had barely just discovered it, so these past four years hadn't been hallucinations. They breathed in and sighed. They couldn't wait to see what was at the end of this road.
When the new students got to the address, there was nothing there. It was an empty clearing with some overgrown ruins and a person leaning against said ruins. The person was obviously not human, with two sets of horns; goat horns and then two ones reaching up towards the sky. They had a content smile on their face as the sun shined down upon them.
If anything goes wrong, make sure you call us, Her mothers last minute words echoed in her mind. Odessa gripped the steering wheel hard as she turned onto a dirt road.
"If anything goes wrong?" She scoffed. "You'll be lucky if I ever call you at all." She half hope something horrible was waiting for her at this mysterious location. Some ancient race seeing to take her away for sacrifice. But the more she thought about it, the less she thought her parents would care. She sighed deeply as her GPS pinged, letting her know she was at her destination, a field of nothing and rocks…. with a singular figure lingering about.
Hesitantly, Odessa got out of her care and eyed the person. The horns and the natural spotlight definitely gave her pause. It seemed that the Sun definitely had something to do with this. But what surprised her more, was the arrival of more cars. She hadn't be the only one to receive a letter, apparently. Skepticism and excitement battled in her stomach as she watched cars park in the same location. Were these people just like her?
"What is this?" Solana wondered out loud, as she made her way into the clearing. "Some sort of bad costume party? I guess I forgot my cape." She rolled her eyes at the figure, quick golden eyes darting around to see the others arriving as well.
Another girl, around her age, had entered the ruins before her. Sol eyes her with curious amusement, and then dismissed her with a bare glance. Her confusion only grew as more people arrived, making her wonder what on earth was going on.
Why had she come here again? Something was kinda sketchy.
Tae unbuckled his seat belt and climbed out of his car, looking warily around. The address on the letter hadn't been exactly the safest place he had seen, and it was creeping him out. He locked his car and made his way to the weird ruins, where everyone else was heading.
Instead of talking, he stood in the far corner, just watching. A strange excitement pulsed in his gut, telling him that something exciting was about to happen. It was a feeling he had learned to listen to long ago, a feeling that he looked forward to; some sort of sixth sense, warning him of potential danger.
Drake stepped out of his car and stared at the goat-person. He looked around at the other cars. "Who are you?" He asked immediately. For some reason, he felt nervous asking and was nervous to hear the answer. "Are you Sun?" He continued.
The person clapped their hands, straightening up from their leaning. "That would be me, The Sun!" They giggled, smiling into their hand. "You're Drake, right? The Timekeeper has told me good things about you!" They tilted their head, looking directly into Drake's eyes with their own white out ones.
When Yuli stepped outside their car, looking around at the surrounding area, he knew there were some unknown forces at work here. Seeing the mismatched arrangement of people here simply proved it more. He heard the horned person speak and began "So what did you bring us all here for? What exactly is going to be going on here? It seems a little… empty, to be a school"
