“Okay. I’ll be in the last room down the hall and on the left,” Amber said. It wasn’t a bedroom, but a large living room. She planned on staying up for a bit of figure all of this out. She also made another mental note to check if the security alarm was set.
"Okay." Xira responded, slowly drifting to sleep. She dreamed of her family, her and her brother playing outside while their mom cooked dinner. Where did it go wrong? When was she taken and what happened to her family? The dream made her stir in her sleep, she just wanted it to stop.
(I thought I responded, but I guess not. Sorry about that.)
(It’s alright)
Amber went into the living room, switching on the TV. She was about to get comfortable on the couch, when the doorbell rang. She gave a soft curse, shaking her head to herself as she went to the front door. But she hesitated, wondering if it could be one of the men that Xira said was after her. So, she opened the door, just enough that she could see the man standing there. “Can I help you?”
“Are your parents home? If so, I’d like to talk to them,” the man said.
That just annoyed Amber, and not being good with adults, she snapped at him. “Bitch, I’m not thirteen, I live by myself. What do you want?”
“I’m looking for my… daughter. She’s about your height with white hair, pale skin.”
The sound of the door bell jerked Xira awake, and she was on high alert. She quietly snuck out and peered around the corner to see who it was. It wasn't a surprise that they would find her, she was just worried for Amber, if they did something to her she wouldn't hesitate to kill them. She listened in on the conversation.
“Your daughter? If she looks like that, then I don’t think you two are related,” Amber hummed.
“Listen to me, you disrespectful-“ the man started, obviously getting annoyed.
“No, you listen. It is late, I am tired, and your ass comes over here in the middle of the goddamn night asking me if Ive seen your daughter. Maybe she ran away because she couldn’t stand to look at your stupid fucking face. Now get the hell off of my porch before I break a nail beating the shit out of you,” Amber ranted before slamming the door. She smiled to herself, locking the door and switching on the alarm.
Xira was sitting in the hall laughing. That was to perfect, she definitely didn't want to get on Amber's bad side. "I knew they would come here at some point looking for me." She tried to catch her breath from laughing. "You really stood your ground. Thank you."
Amber walked over to where Xira was, laughing a bit as well. “Yeah, no problem. That happens more often than it should. That guy was such a little bitch, he just let a 120 pound girl curse him out,” she laughed. “But did I wake you up with my yelling?”
"No ot was the door bell. Actually I'm thankful that it did, I wasn't having the best dream." Xira was still a bit scared and didn't want to leave the hall. For all she knew he could be looking in through the window. "I've never met anyone like you before." She fiddled with her fingers to keep her distracted.
“Like me?” Amber asked, a brow arched in confusion. “What is that supposed to mean?” She asked further. She made her way over to Xira, leaning against the wall as she looked down at her. She checked her fake nails, making sure that she actually didn’t loose any of her nails.
"Someone who won't let others push them around. I mean it in a good way don't worry." As Amber was checking her nails Xira did the same. They were chipped and had dirt under them, she hid her hands embarrassed by how bad they look. She was very pretty, Xira wasn't going to deny that fact.
“Ah, thank you!” Amber hummed, showing her teeth now as she grinned. “I do my best with that sort of thing,” she added, pushing a bit of hair back behind her ear. She looked around, checking a clock in the wall. “It’s late, I’m probably going to head up to bed.”
"I should go back as well." Using the wall behind her she pushed herself up and started down the hall. Her knee still throbed, she didn't want to worry Amber so she ignored it. As soon as Xira was in the room she closed the door and slid down it and laid on the ground. The bed was to far for her at this point.
Amber walked down the hall and to a large staircase. She made her way up the stairs, going to the left and heading down a hallway. She walked into her bedroom, huffing as she shut the door behind her and flopped onto her bed.
Xira fell asleep on the floor that night. And was awake when the sun shone in her eyes. "I want to sleep longer." She groaned, rubbing her eyes. Last night was hard for her. "Amber are you awake?" She asked lazily. If Amber wasn't awake she wasn't going to get up.
Amber was in the kitchen in a pair of short shorts and a tshirt, sipping coffee. Her hair was a mess from sleeping, and she was makeup free. She yawned a bit, thinking that she heard Xira from the guest room. So, she got up, tying her hair into a messy looking bun as she walked to the room and opened the door. “Xira?”
Xira was still on the floor struggling to wake up. "So you are awake?" She smiled and stood up. " I'm hungry." Making her way to the kitchen she tripped a few times forgetting the her knee was still jacked up.
(Sorry it's short and bad I'm just a little busy.)
(It’s okay)
“Yeah, I am,” Amber said, following Xira out of the bedroom. “And hey, hold on, where you sleeping on the floor? There was a perfectly good bed, like, right next to you.” As they walked, she grabbed onto Xira’s arm to help her steady herself. “Careful,” she said.
"Yeah, I was just tired and happened to fall asleep there." Xira was not a morning person, she wasn't cranky, just out of it. Sitting on a chiar in the dinning room, she laid her head on the table. The day was to bright for so early in the morning, actually Xira had no idea what time it was. "What time is it?"
Amber walked into the kitchen, getting her cup of coffee and taking a long drink. “Like, eleven in the morning, maybe?” she said, looking over at the clock. She walked into the dining room where Xira was, taking a seat at the table now as well.
"Oh, God. I'm so sorry, I had no idea it was so late."
Xira laid her head on the table and looked over at Amber. How did she look so put together in the mornings. "Do you have any extra clothes I could borrow?" She was going to clean herself up and look just as nice.
“Hm? Don’t be sorry, I just woke up a few minutes ago. I prefer to sleep in late,” Amber explained, tucking a strand of wavy hair that didn’t fit in her bun behind her ear. “And sure, I do have some things. Don’t know if you would like the stuff, though. I mostly just have crop tops and skinny jeans,” she laughed.
"That's fine." She waved her hand around. Xira didn't care what she dressed in. "Just give me whatever you dont wear anymore." Her hair was a mess, and she needed a shower. "Do you always look this good when you wake up?"
Amber gave a loose shrug, finishing up her coffee and setting it on the table. “I might have some t-shirts and shorts you could fit you,” she said. She almost cracked up, though, at the last comment that Xira gave. “Seriously? You’re joking, right? I just woke up, and the only thing I put on was moisturizer to help with my acne,” she said with disbelief.
"Well I think you look fine." She yawned. Amber was one of the prettier people she's seen. Xira lifted her head to get a better look and she was right Amber was definitely pretty. "I should go take a shower." Staring to long was rude, so she stood and walked to the bathroom.
(Sorry I'm babysitting so it might be a bit bad.)
