Hey! So this RP is set in a medieval age, in a world where magic and magical creatures exist.
Our characters have the task of retrieveing a magical artifact that appeared in a very deep cave, at the center of a mountain range. Since this strong source of magical forces (the artifact/relic) was detected by oracles, clairvoyants and other magic-related individuals, all kinds of dangers have appeared in the region and our characters will have to face them.
The characters can have any motive to try and get the relic, and they may work together or may be rivals. Whether they are mercenaries, or work for a king's court, or they're just travelers caught in the situation, or are sorcerers trying to get more power — any relatively reasonable motive you can come up with will do. Characters can be of any race as long as they're not too OP.
Magic exists in this setting and our characters can use it. However, there must be a balance to it. If your character is very good at physical stuff (like the use of certain weapons or fighting style, etc) they'll do poorly at magic (or won't be able to use magic at all) and viceversa. In the same manner characters are expected to be flawed and mortal (as in, they can receive damage and they won't always succeed at what they try) and their abilities shouldn't be extremely powerful, but they can be simply powerful -idk if that makes sense lol-.
The overall idea is to rp fun and/or creative characters. Swearing and violent scenes are allowed.

Race: if it's not "human" add a description.
Short backstory:

You may add any other info you consider relevant.
(May I? even though I probably shouldn't be joining any more rps)
(hey, can I join too? I have just the princess for it)
(Of course you can join!)
Name: Lillith Song
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Race: Sorta but not quite human. Kinda basically a siren?
Abilities and skills:
Magic: So, basically, her voice is literally imbued with magic, in a siren-esque way. This allows her to speed up the growth of plants and heal them by singing, and if she’s really trying, she can even plant ideas in people’s minds. This is a power inherited from her ancestors, as she hails from a clan of people with the same abilities, most of whom were wiped out.
Normal: Incredible with knives, and has a decent knowledge of poisons and medical things. Knows a lot of people, in high and low places.
Appearance: Golden blonde hair to a few inches below her shoulders, that looks self cut and slightly choppy. Lighter skin, and a light smattering of freckles on her nose and cheeks. Has slight heterochromia, in that one eye is always slightly different from the other in color. Speaking of color, her eyes are muticolored, and constantly changing color for no apparent reason. 5’6, and some mix between willowy and curvy, somehow. Has an intricate burn scar on the back of her neck, visible when her hair’s pulled up, that kind of reminds one of a cattle brand.
Short backstory: Well, I love mystery, so I won't spill all of it. Basically, she had a fairly nice, happy life with her mother and sisters when she was younger, up until she was twelve. Skip ahead a bit, over a lot of darker things, and she's essentially just struggling to make it in the world. Owns a plant nursery/shop. She joined the mission because she was forced, by a man holding her past and the supposed whereabouts of one of her family members in his hands.
(Nice! Also, forgot to ask, would you prefer if our characters are already in the same team from the start, or should they decide what to do upon meeting eachother?)
(bump. Idk if that's a thing here tho. Once there are at least 4 characters, mine included, the rp will start)
((So, you need two more? Characters up? Also, um, I don't have a preference about whether they know each other or not, either works.))
(how much swearing are you planning on? I'm interested in joining, I'm just not comfortable with a lot of swearing)
( Yes you may @Trix ; I think that one more besides yours and mine would be enough to start @thighighcrocs-got-the-dog-off-the-table ; and I don't personally plan on swearing much (if not at all), @Brynkadavsky_Is_Unfortunately_Busy but it'll still be allowed if another player wants to. Not sure of the other players' intentions on swearing, though. )
((Well, I'm in a few different rps with Brenna and I'm pretty used to not swearing in those. Here, I can keep it to a minimum, and only milder things))
(Alright! Tell me if my character needs any changes.)
Name: Haddow Tiebantur
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Abilities and skills: Mind magic. Haddow manipulates it usually as a shield, but has the power for physical attack. These attacks range mostly from locking a person's body in place for 5-10 seconds, changing opinions, etc. Offensive moves, however, drain his energy. (Ex. Controlling someone's body that is resisting will provide difficult if done longer than 30 seconds. If the resister is also trained in magic, a blackout can be guaranteed within the minute. Someone sleeping or willing he could probable handle for much longer.) Due to a phobia of dropping his guard in the midst of delving into someone's mind, he will rarely attack. Haddow's physical prowess is fairly uncoordinated but he can wield a dagger if need be. He serves better in a duo, waiting in the shadows for small attacks as his partner takes over in physical combat.
Appearance: His hair is dyed in strands of cotton candy blue and light magenta which interlock together to form a messy mosaic he calls hair. It hangs over and shadows his grey/green eyes, making him feel secure. Although his facial structure and features altogether may lean toward feminine, his daily attire of black on black and general aura emitted prevents anyone from mistaking him as a kinder, gentle human. A septum and double helix piercing (on his right ear), lightly muscled, underweight, and guarded.
Short backstory: Lots of betrayals equal trust issues and a need to guard oneself with mind magic. He studied as an apprentice; learning how to control the magic flowing in souls and minds. He learned predominately for defensive purposes, though, so attacking is not his strength.
(Looks good! I'll post my character soon and we'll begin)
(Then if it's alright with you, can I join as well?)
(Sure! Honestly I've been a bit busy so I forgot to post here. I'll post my character sheet, you can post yours @Brynkadavsky_Is_Unfortunately_Busy and then we'll start)
Name: Adilynn Raye
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Abilities and skills: She's immune to almost everything, poison, drugs, sickness, and she can sometimes share her immunity with other people. Besides that, she's very stealthy and good with throwing knives.
Appearence: Short, scruffy dark blond hair that's perpetually in her face. She's fairly muscular, somewhat underfed but ignores that. Her eyes are a dark blue, sometimes bordering on black when she's angry.
Short backstory: Adi (She doesn't give out her real name) Was raised in a school that ignored reading and math and focused on fighting and weaponry. She escaped when she was ten and spent the next years on the run in the streets. She's automatically distrustful, sarcastic, and has extreme leadership issues. She doesn't trust easily, and hates talking about feelings.
(She's pretty new, so we'll see how she turns out!)
Name: Kaedin.
Age: 28.
Gender: Male.
Race: Fedreil. This race constists of individuals who, in most aspects, are humans. Among some of the slight differences that separate this race from others is the presence of claws that replace fingernails and their pupils have the shape of a vertical line, like those of snakes.
Abilities and skills: As part of the fedreil race he possesses the gift of the popularly called "True Sight". This allows Kaedin to see in the dark with much ease than a regular human and grants him a particularly sharp eyesight.
Kaedin can imbue any part of his body with magical light. It can both function as barrier or as a mean to attack his foes. He's capable of also imbuing any melee weapons he may be using. Imbued elements are protected from a smallportion of damage before actually receiving it.
Kaedin focuses his fighting style on the use of a short sword and his fists.
Appearence: He's a tall man. Pale skin, green eyes, black hair long enough to touch his gluteus. He's quite athletic thanks to the tireless training he's sustained for years. Kaedin's claws are black and his voice sounds strangely deep, almost as if it didn't fit his looks.
Wears a white cape and clothes, with black details embroided in the sleeves, chest and borders of the cape.
Short backstory: Kaedin grew in a small village near wheat farms. As soon as he reached the age of twelve, monks from the Arethi order chose him as a pupil and trained him in the fighting techniques he currently knows. The order gives him tasks often related to controling beasts, individuals or artifacts that appear to be dangerous.
The ferocious blizzard hadn't stopped in weeks. Since the artifact had awoken, every oracle and clairvoyant in the kingdom felt its constant presence. Its call. Its immense power. Nobody was sure of what it was, they only knew that not many entities withheld that much energy.
Several parties had tried to obtain the relic — not a single one succeded. They had all perished because of the extreme cold the storm had deployed in the region, or because of how abnormaly aggressive the beasts were, or because of how often landslides occured even when that mountain range was known for its characteristic stability.
"It's the relic", the Arethi oracles had told Kaedin. "Its protecting itself". And there he was, walking across that glacial land, covered in fur clothes to prevent freezing. Though the extreme cold icing even his soul made it feel as if he was completely naked.
He walked through snow almost as tall as his knees. The light of the sun dimmed by the dense clouds and the snow being dragged through the air by howling winds.
Even when he wished more than anything to be in front a fire eating warm food, he had the mission of retrieving the artifact before someone else did. He had to. After all, the oracles felt its constant presence. Its call. Its immense power.
(Alright, let's begin! This is kind of an introduction to the environment. As you can see it's reaaally cold, there's a blizzard, animals in the region are being way too aggressive for no apparent reason, landslides may happen, and you may add any dangers that you can come up with. Basically: it's a very dangerous zone. The thing is to go through all this stuff until we find the entrance of the cave. If you're not comfortable with this setting or you'd like something changed, let me know!)
(I'm new to this kind of roleplaying so let me know if something isn't working, I won't feel offended or anything. Thanks! I look forward to see your posts!)
When the oracle of their small village, Rediema Gothryn, ran out of her hut at precisely 6:47 AM screaming about a 'beast awakening', the people thought she finally went mad. But now, a week since Rediema disappeared, rumors were spreading faster than wildfire. A few townsfolk claimed a mythical creature of old rumbled deep inside the mountains, others felt a powerful sorcerer was playing tricks on their minds, some even believed the gods themselves were dooming the lands. A vast majority of ordinaries wiped all these hushed whispers off as nonsense.
Haddow, though, knew better. When he consulted the several clairvoyants behind wise and powerful hands, receiving similar answers, small threads of yearning began coiling in his stomach. Each felt a small prodding in their minds, bodies, in magic itself. A little string tugging them to the heart of the mountain range. A string Haddow had begun to collect, wind, and follow through the icy realms of the perilous mountains.
Lillith was no stranger to peril, and dangerous experiences, but this was a new high in itself. Technically, she wasn't even supposed to be in this mountain range, hunting for some relic that at one point, everyone she knew was pretty sure didn't exist. But the offer…she couldn't just turn down the offer. Not if it meant finding someone from her family, something she'd been trying and failing to do for a year.
So she wrapped the slightly too large, and heavy cloak tighter around herself, adjusting the large scarf shielding her face from the sharp cold of the blizzard. Alone in the mountains. She could very well die out here, and nobody would know. There was nobody to know, except for one person who didn't care. Her steps quickened as a low and haunting howl filled the air around her, knowing it could just be the wind, but not willing to take that chance.
(Oh wow you're good at this lol. I really like both of your posts. I'm not sure how does this work. Is it turn based, thus I should wait for Brykadavsky to post?)
((Brenna's been a bit busy lately, so like, you could post again, we just shouldn't get too far without her, y'know? And yeah, it goes kinda in turns. One person posts, another does, and so on, and it just keeps going))
