“Is someone invisible holding you at gunpoint?”
He shook his head again. "No. I just almost gave away a huge secret that's kind of embarrassing." Cade rubbed the back of his neck.
Chelsea blinked, “Well what’s the secret?”
Cade chuckled. "If I told you, it wouldn't be a secret anymore."
“Aw…”
"I won't ever tell you." Cade told Chelsea.
“Meanie.” Chelsea said, she turned to Willow, “Yeah he’s also a meanie.”
He scoffed. "Enough about me." Cade stood up. "Where do we sleep?"
“Over there,” Chelsea said, pointing, “Don’t be so unobservant.”
Cade rolled his eyes again, then nodded. "Well, I'm turning in then."
“You guys haven’t eaten anything.” Chelsea pointed out, she turned to Cade, “Are you actually going bed with an empty stomach?”
He shrugged. "I ate right before I came here."
“So then you ate dinner at 6?” Chelsea asked, “Wow, humans are weird.”
Cade rolled his eyes again. "Dinner is normally at six." He continued walking.
“… isn’t dinner at 7?” Chelsea said, having a really mortified loook on her face.
He stopped and turned around to face Chelsea. "No, it's at six. That way there's plenty of time to do chores and stuff after." Cade told her, using the explanation that his mother had told him.
“Oh. I don’t have chores. What are chores?”
"You don't have chores?!" Cade looked at her, startled. "Chores. You know, small tasks you do to help out."
“Help out with what?”
"You know, help out. Sweeping, running errands, collecting firewood, changing diapers…" Cade scrunched up his nose at the thought of the last one. "Things to help out your family." He realized his mistake as he said it.
Harper sat quietly, snickering. She ate supper at five, so, she beat both of them.
(this is an actual argument I've had with people before)
“… oh. Right. Um okay.” Chelsea said flatly, her face fell.
