Bastian found himself awake long after Halo had fallen asleep. Despite his best efforts, he was too worried to sleep

As Halo slept, he whimpered softly, his face etching in pain, small noises escaping his throat. He nuzzles into Bastian for comfort.

Bastian would murmur soothing nothings to Halo when he would shift in his sleep, eventually just choosing to stay awake to take care of Halo

Halo seemed to calm down a little as he's soothed, nuzzling into Bastians warmth as he begins to sleep. He sighs happily and nuzzles into Bastians warmth as he slept.

Bastian continued to watch over Halo as he slept, making sure he was always soothed. Normally he would have nudged Halo's mind a little to help him sleep, but he felt like that might be crossing a line. So he stayed up all night making sure Halo was okay

Halo woke slowly, taking a deep and shuddering breath, then wincing in pain. He holds his ribs cage as he curls closer to Bastian.

Bastian just held him closer, as he had all night. His eyes were a bit red and he was obviously tired, but he’d never admit to his exhaustion

Halo looks up. "Bastian? Did you sleep at all?" He asks quietly.

Bastian sighed before rubbing at his eyes with his free hand. "Does trying count?" he mumbled

Halo tilts his head in concern, gently kissing his forehead. "D-did I keep you up?" He asks softly.

"No, it wasn't your fault angel. It's hard for me to sleep when I'm stressed," Bastian murmured

Halo nods and holds Bastian, "I feel really dizzy…" He mutters, shaking his head.

"Yeah, that'll happen," Bastian said softly. "It'll get worse before it gets better. I passed out a few times when I had the curse."

Halo rests on Bastians chest. "I don't like this…" he whispers, "being sick…"

"It's not fun," Bastian agreed. "Especially this kind of sick. It's gross and painful, but if you're lucky you might pass away and go to heaven or something," he said with a small shrug, though there was a bit of sadness in his tone

Halo smiles weakly. "As if I'd leave you." he mutters. "Any amount of pain is worth it if I can be with you."

Bastian gave a sort of dry laugh at that. "I'm not worth going through the pain of the curse. It only ends two ways-dying, or turning into a freak like me."

Halo chuckles, "As if I would care, Bastian. I'd be with you and that's all that matters to me." He whispers softly. He shifts and nuzzles Bastian.

Bastian was having a bit of a hard time processing Halo's words. On the one hand, that meant Halo really did want to stay with him. But on the other, he was an awful person, and he was scared Halo would eventually come to hate him

Halo smiles gently and nuzzles Bastian. "I love you." He says gently

"I love you too," Bastian murmured, smiling softly as he nuzzled him back

Halo sighed, wincing at his spinning head, but he didn't complain. He would be okay. He would stay with Bastian.

Eventually someone came up the steps. Bastian looked up, frowning a bit when he caught sight of Poncho. He was holding a flask of something pale blue. "This should help with any injuries," he explained before walking over to them
