Yuki nods after hearing your story, as if in deep thought. Exila's shay breath indicates that she's about to recape her story.
"I, uh…" Exila wipes the tears from her face and sniffs. "I was with Rai most of the time, yes. And then with Jean when we first got home, but the rest of the time I was in the main room with Rai. I had some noodles too, but not too much. I was afraid I'd throw up if I had too much to drink." Exila turns to look at Yuki. Yuki taps his fingers on the table impatiently, and then proceeds lean forward in his seat.
"When we got home, I sat and debated with myself whether I should grab a drink or not. After Jean came out, I asked him to monitor how much I drink and he agreed to do so. After the first bottle I was already feeling a little sick so I went to the bathroom, and when I came out, beds were set up. I had half of another bottle before turning in for the night."
Yuki's eyes scan the table, making eye contact with everyone around him. After a few minutes of awkward silence, Yuki huffs.
"Anyone got any bright ideas they'd like to share? Or confess to what they did?"
I go over all the information. A few questions pop into my head. Everyone looks at each other, wondering what would be said. Will someone confess? Maybe they were accomplices. Do I take position as investigator? Is that alright? No one else seems willing to.
I inhale. "Okay. Well… where did Macy die? And where was she sleeping? Jean? Another thing, Yuki, did you eat any noodles?"
I do hope no one suspects me, I know I couldn't have murdered her. I had no poison on me, or intent. "Oh, and, Exila, Jean says you were with him the entire time everyone was eating, so how could you possibly have had any noodles? And what about drinks? Poison can be put in liquids." All this thinking is truly putting me back into my sober state. Perhaps I asked too many questions.
Everyone looks around in a state of surprise from your sudden detective personality. Jean is still as he gazes at you before answering.
"Macy was found in the bathroom. Unless she was moved, we can only assume she was killed there. I can't answer where she slept, but I suggested the love seat for her, considering she's short enough for that."
Jean blinks as his gaze shifts to Yuki. Yuki feels Jean's eyes and holds his breath. After a few moments, he answered.
"I didn't have any noodles, but I sat at the table with everyone."
Exila tries to cover her shaking. She looks down at her lap, furrowing her brows and curling her lips. "No, I had noodles. I must have had the leftovers in the pot or something."
Myst chimes in suddenly.
"Jean, you said 'unless she was moved'. Do you think the one who killed Macy poisoned her so that they could move her without leaving a blood trail?"
Jean takes the thought into consideration as he looks straight ahead to evaluate the information presented.
Everyone's eyes are intimidating, but Jean's were the scariest. I feel as if my soul was being picked apart piece by piece, but I don't allow it to show.
"Maybe the noodles weren't poisoned. For all we know, someone could have forced her too drink it. Macy was probably too drunk to realize anything bad would happen. Maybe the poison was the type to act right away," I squint my eyes, asking more direct questions. "Yuki, didn't you go to the bathroom? Myst, didn't you enforce drinking coconut water so much? Does it even help? Was Macy wearing lipstick? Maybe there's a cup somewhere with her lipstick with the poison. Maybe…" I trail off, realizing I had rambled on for too long. "Well," I rub my sweaty hands on my legs again, "Poison would make sense, since any obviously physical attack would cause screaming or blood stains on clothes."
Yuki and Myst exchange glances as they silently decide who goes first at answering. Myst cleared her throat.
"Actually, it does help. It was just something I do every morning after a night of drinking. Ask anyone here, they can confirm."
Everyone respectively nods as Yuki answers.
"I went to the bathroom, but that was just because I wasn't feeling well." He looks around at everyone with unreadable eyes. Suddenly, without warning, Exila pipes up.
"Why haven't we called the police?"
u bitch police r for losers
wAIT I DIDNT MEAN TO SEND IT IT WAS A HABIT
"Getting the police involved? For one, I'm underage. They would arrest me if they knew I had been drinking at 18. And, we can't just not include me. Or maybe we can? Should we call the police guys? They could probably handle it better than we could."
The tension gets under my skin. I know nothing about murders. What are we kids doing trying to solve them?
"I need water," I say, getting up and grabbing a glass cup out of the cabinet.
"I don't know, Rai." Myst says, squinting her eyes at you. "You are the new one, here. And you seem to be pretty shifty as soon as I mentioned the police. You need some water because your mouth dry from all the lies?"
"Myst!" Exila exclaims, before turning to you. "I know Rai, she's not a killer."
Myst exhales through her mouth. "Are you sure you know Rai?"
There's silence as Exila looks at you, a sudden hint of doubt filling her eyes along with tears.
"You're awfully accusatory so suddenly, Myst." Yuki notes, squinting his eyes. Myst rolls her eyes at Yuki before snapping back.
"Oh, so now we're playing the blame game?"
"Guys. Calm down. You've made Exila cry." Jean speaks again with the tone of authority over everyone. Everyone looks at you and Exila.
I laugh at Myst's accusation. "Tell me, what evidence do you have against me? The fact that I'm new shows that I wouldn't have a motive. I don't even know Macy. Maybe 'someone' waited for someone new to show up so the blame would go on the new kid," I retort, playing along with her game.
"Guys. Calm down. You've made Exila cry." Jean interrupts.
I lay my hands down on the table, ignoring Jean. "If you want to call the police - do it. Obviously we aren't getting anywhere. Plus, it'll just prove I didn't kill her." I make a mental note to never hang out with these sick people again.
Yuki rolls his eyes, tapping his foot loudly.
"Why don't we call the police? I mean they could keep everyone here and catch the killer quicker going by the fact that it's one of us."
Myst walks over to Exila and wraps her arms around her, comforting Exila.
"Jean, take Yuki to the other room. Make sure he doesn't drink, he turns into more of an asshole when he's drunk."
Jean stands up and nudges Yuki to follow him, causing Yuki to reluctantly follow, huffing on the way. Myst looks at you.
"I'm sorry about that. I needed to get Yuki angry enough to get him and Jean out of the room. I want to say that I trust Jean, but he's always been…different. And I'm starting to have suspicions."
I squint my eyes at Myst. There is a possibility that she is lying. There is also a path where she is telling the truth. I wish that we did not get separated, for I still have so many questions to ask everyone.
If Jean was the killer, who's to say he isn't about to brutally murder Yuki? Or the other way around? "Does anyone here have anything against Macy? And for heaven's sake - don't lie. For all we know Jean or Yuki could be murdering each other right now." Maybe I should talk to each person separately. Maybe they'll say something if it's just me and them.
Myst scoffs at you. "Lie? Sure. Says the girl who conveniently remembers the least out of all of us." Exila turns to look at Myst.
"Actually, I think I wasn't able to recall nearly as much as Rai did." Myst rolls her eyes and sighs heavily.
"Whatever. Either way, I think we shou-"
Suddenly, Jean stumbles in holding up Yuki by wrapping Yuki's arm around his shoulder. Yuki's face is pale and dark circles were forming under his eyes. His head was hanging low and his glasses were moved to push his hair back. Jean looks at you, Myst and Exila with panic in his eyes.
"Guys, Yuki just started coughing up blood, I don't know what to do!"
I raise my eyebrows, returning a panicked glance at Jean. "Well, what the fuck are we waiting for? Someone call a damn ambulance, he's not dead yet!" I motion towards Jean to sit Yuki down on the couch. I sit beside him.
"Alright Snow, now would be the time to remember something - so don't die on me. Anything. It wasn't noodles, you didn't have any. Did you eat anything else? Drink, besides the alcohol? Did anyone force you to take something?" I hold my breath, scared for his life, for 'mine.' What if I was dying next?
Yuki's face grew paler by the second. It was as if you could see the life draining from his eyes.
"N-no…" Yuki says between coughs. Myst runs over with a slightly warm, wet towel folded to go over his forehead. Exila handed Yuki a paper towel to cough into.
"I didn't take anything, I swear. All I had was the can of beer and an apple." Yuki holds a hand to his mouth and motions at Myst with hand gestures that even he didn't understand. Myst runs to the kitchen, grabs a large pot, and rushes back, hurriedly placing it in front of Yuki. Exila, panicking, starts asking questions too.
"Did Macy give you anything to consume?"
Yuki threw his head into the pot and hurled, causing Exila to shudder.
"Like I said, I didn't drink anything, I didn't eat anything, I didn't even i-" He goes into another coughing fit, clutching his head tightly and groaning in pain.
"Guys, I think I'm going to die."
and then I take out my knife and start stabbing everyone.
"lol sry guys"
everyone: "?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????/"
myst: "I knew it"
the end
