Cassy blushed slightly and pushed a strand of her hair behind her ear, "We'll see, I might have something up my sleeve…" She trailed off, "But, my parents have been acting really weird when ever I bring up the party, Is something different going on this year?"
Jidhr tilted his head, considering. He hadn't noticed anything out of the ordinary, but of course he didn't have too many casual interactions with his parents. "Not that I know of. What kind of weird are you talking?"
"Weird like guilty, they keep talking in hushed voices, long secret phone calls, concerned looks from out of no where, on edge when ever the party is mentioned, I could go on but I think you get the idea." Cassy explained, she fiddled with the ends of her hair and stared out at the water, "I'm more worried for my brothers, if Mom and Dad keep being this irritable I think my brothers will go insane."
"You know I don't talk with mine much," Jidhr told her, fingering his necklace. "But they have been trying to get at this lately. Don't know why, and I'm never letting them."
Cassy Ruffled Jidhr's hair and pushed his head to the side, the same way she would to her Brothers, "Aww Cheer up Jidhr, think of it this way, they aren't bothering you right now, and here we are looking a beautiful bit of nature, you're surrounded by friends, your safe, and no matter what I got your back." Cassy may stood up and spun around, her hair spinning around her face, "Nature is beautiful." She slipped and landed on her back in the sand with a small shriek then sat up shaking the sand from her hair, "Oops."
Jidhr huffed out a small laugh, crossing his legs in the sand. "Thanks."
"No problem." She shook her head some more, "Great now I'm dizzy." She fell back onto her back and stared up at the sky, "We're almost adults, soon we're going to all be leaving, living separate lives, it's all about to get hectic." Her ever present smile faltered for a moment, she would be leaving home, she had gotten a scholarship paying for most of her schooling at Julliard and would be leaving at the beginning of the school year, she wasn't ready for the change of seen, "But for now we're all here, and we're together, no need to worry about anything else." At this point she wasn't sure who she was comforting.
Ace frowned, now fully sitting up. “Hey now, don’t talk like that,” He hated talking about the future, when their little friend group would split up and go on their separate ways. It made him feel uneasy. Standing up, he ran a hand through his head, shaking out the sand in it. “Okay, sad time is over. Who wants to jump in the lake with me?”
Cassy smiled and jumped to her own feet starting to run, "Race you there." she bolted towards the lake.
(All in favor for Ace to pick her up and drop her in the lake say 'I')
(I)
Ace raced after Cassy, quickly catching up to the girl. Reaching out, he wrapped his arms around her stomach, sweeping her up into his arms. “You’re gonna regret challenging me Cas,” he said with a laugh, already ankle deep in the water.
Cassy giggled and squirmed , "Oh am I?" She questioned laughing
“I think you are,” Ace smiled, tightening his grip on Cassy so she wouldn’t squirm out of his arms. He kept walking when he was mid-thigh deep in the water before unceremoniously dropping her in the water, laughing as he did so.
Cassy sputtered and splashed in the water then yanked on Aces knees pulling him down with her, "Ha!" she exclaimed gasping for air.
Ace fell beside her with a laugh, going under for a second before resurfacing. Spitting water out, he resolved to splashing Cas in retaliation. “Take that!” he yelled playfully.
Cas stabbed him in the stomach with her finger, "Take that!" she responded, "And that and that!" she continued to poke him with every 'that'.
Finch sat up and looked at the two playing in the water. "Looks like they're having fun." He said then covered his head. "Why does it have to be so bright and warm?"
"It's summer. July," Jidhr replied, turning to him. "Although we are by a lake, so…humidity."
"Yeah… I guess." Finch said and nodded then focused on the sand as he talked. "I'll probably get used to it right before the end of summer."
"Then…cold," Jidhr pointed out simply.
"Exactly. Also back to lower than my usual low self-esteem." Finch replied and made small designs in the sand.
Cassy humphed and reached up to make sure her hair Pin was still intact, the Pin was shaped like a base clef/treble clef heart and was always on her person. "You're lucky this is still here Ace, I would have made you dive for it."
Ace rolled his eyes playfully. “I’m always lucky. And plus, all we would have to do is take a metal detector and go beeep beeep,” He mimicked holding the detector, sweeping it over the water.
"Exactly. Also back to lower than my usual low self-esteem." Finch replied and made small designs in the sand.
"Hey, I think you're great," Jidhr told him, shifting so he was facing him. He did think Finch was great, actually, it wasn't any lie.
Finch smiled slightly and looked up at Jidhr. "Thanks. You're pretty great too." What Finch said wasn't close to a lie.
