"I practically grew up with pirates," she said, rolling her eyes to ignore the blooming pink on her cheeks from the teasing, "And any noble should know not to expose the face behind the gajillion masks we wear."

"And, yet, here I am, cuddling with one who knows me deepest secret," he said, a cheery undertone lifting his voice slightly. "We used to hang rapscallions like you from the rafters."

@ElderGod-kirky group

She scowled playfully at him and lightly jabbed his side with her elbow. "It's not like I tied you up and forced you to do anything with me, though I am immensely grateful for you refraining from that punishment."

Deleted user

"And I am grateful you are a good enough pirate to not get caught," he said, wincing slightly when her elbow connected with his side. "Do you grind your elbows against sharpening stones or something?"

@ElderGod-kirky group

She scoffed and lightly smacked him, not hard enough to actually cause pain. "I do not. You're just a wimp." She huffed and turned so her back was against the prince, arms crossed. "Rude for a prince."

"I would like to thing I am nicer than the majority of royals currently in positions of power," he said, rolling his eyes at her reaction. "Certainly more reasonable."

@ElderGod-kirky group

She tipped her head back to look at him upside down, head resting on his shoulder. "You would be correct. Pretty sure a few royals have hired us to take care of shipments ordered by people in dept in order to 'collect what's due.' I might be a pirate, and one that's getting paid to do that, but even I think that's a bit harsh."

He didn't answer her. Instead, he twisted his head around and brought his lips to her's for a half second.
"Yeah, I never did anything like that," he said softly as he pulled away. "I never even had someone executed."

@ElderGod-kirky group

She was slightly startled by the kiss, but didn't freak out like she thought she would. Progress. She reached up and lightly skimmed her fingers over his cheek, then brushed them through his hair, her touch as light as can be. "And here I thought you couldn't get any better…" she murmured.

His eyes fluttered slightly when her fingertips gently grazed his scalp, a pleased smile playing with the corners of his mouth. It was obvious he was enjoying the physical contact.
"I never knew…someone playing with your hair felt that good," he said softly.

@ElderGod-kirky group

She tipped her head to the side, retracting her hand for half a second before hesitantly burying her fingers in his soft hair. Her own smile tugged at her lips at his reaction. "Even I knew that. Then again, you didn't have people constantly messing with your hair."

He leaned his head into her her hand, letting out a small, "Mmmmmmph." He struggled to keep his eyes opened, resisting the urge to close them the best he could.
"You….hairdresser did this type of stuff?" he asked, his voice a low mumble.

@ElderGod-kirky group

She smiled even more at his reaction, man in a mental note to do this more often. "No. But she still messed with it to get it just right for our company." She kept her voice a soft whisper as she spoke, her fingers occasionally twisting around a chunk of hair.

To be honest, Anthony could've stayed in this moment for the rest of his life and be the happiest man ever. Sitting here, cuddling with a girl he was rapidly falling in love with, thousands of miles away from any serious danger as the sea slowly rocked his to sleep. Sadly, however, the world had other plans.

Three knocks on the door always seemed to signify bad news on this ship, Anto thought bitterly, dragging himself out of Rosia's embrace and throwing the door open, a sour look on his face. One glance at the captain, however, wiped the look away like a mop.

"We have an issue," Parris said simply, poking his head into the room and raising an eyebrow. "Am I interrupting something?"

@ElderGod-kirky group

"No," the first mate said, sliding off the bed and standing behind Anto while slipping on her shoes once again. "What's the issue?" She was slightly miffed about the intrusion on their silent, comfortable moment, but it was the captain—she couldn't exactly bad mouth him to his face. She wasn't stupid, and she quite liked life.

"A dockmaster has come up with a fuss and a couple of his thugs," Parris explained, glancing down at the wet towels on the ground for a moment before continuing. "Claiming that he deserves extra commission. I figured getting you two down there would scare him enough, but I can get Hugh and White if you don't want to."

(I'm seriously contemplating making Hugh and White a couple)

@ElderGod-kirky group

(they'd be great, honestly. Giant stoic mixed with chaotic rebel)

Rosia looked to the prince in front of her, silently contemplating something, then looked to Parris, keeping her face stony. "Hugh and White would be the better option. Hugh alone is intimidating without even a word needing to be spoken. Plus, it gives them some extra work to do. Dip their toes in some other pirate jobs besides fighting and plundering. "

Parris made eye contact with Fane and understood what she was saying, glancing down at the Prince's knees then back up to her.
"Make sure to listen to whatever the doctor said, Anto," the captain said and shut the door.
Anthony turned to Fane and pulled an expression. He knew the reason why she has said no. "Why can't I?"

@ElderGod-kirky group

"Because you're hobbling around and complaining about your knees," she stated matter-of-factly, taking her shoes off once again to flop onto her bed, "And I highly doubt any amount of cuddling with yours truly is going to make it magically better."

Deleted user

"Hmph," was his response, since he knew she was right and had no reasonable response to it. "No fun."
Anthony sat down next to her, gently massaging his knees. A quick glance over to the ice bucket showed that it had all melted.

@ElderGod-kirky group

Rosia also saw the melted bucket and sighed, then got up with a disgruntled groan. "I'll go get a different one. Don't hobble off while I'm gone," she added while leaning over Anthony and ruffling his hair with a ghost of a smile.

Deleted user

"No promises," he called after her, knowing damn well it would hurt too much to do anything. Instead, he took the opportunity to sprawl out across the entire bed, letting out a small sigh of relief.

@ElderGod-kirky group

She took the bucket and walked up the stairs to the deck, dumped out the water over the railing and into the ocean, then went back below-deck to find some more ice. It didn't take much time as she originally thought, and she even found some bags for Anthony to put the ice in so it didn't melt as quickly or get water all over him once the ice did melt. As soon as she had everything she needed, she came back to her cabin, knocking once before slipping through the door and closing it behind her. "Oh. You're still here."

Deleted user

"Yes, believe it or not," he said, propping himself up on his elbow to look at her. "Crippled people usually try not to move unless they have to."
Even if he was planning on acting difficult, he was happy that they didn't have to go deal with the gang on the dock. For one, he was hurt and he doubted a fistfight would help, and he got to stay in the room with Rosia. A small smile graced his lips when she set the bucket down, feeling his heart flutter slightly in anticipation.
"C'mere," he said, dropping back down on his back and waving her over. "He, in fact, did interrupt something and I'd like to get back to it."

(I mean, I feel like, since they are both pirates, the situation might get steamy. I'm not really comfortable with writing smut, so, if that does happen, could it just be implied?)
