"Coming!" He called back down the stairs. He looked to his sister. "Let's go. Bet I'll beat you."
"In your wildest dreams!" WIth that she stood and began to run down the stairs, Jackson not too far behind.
"Coming!" He called back down the stairs. He looked to his sister. "Let's go. Bet I'll beat you."
"In your wildest dreams!" WIth that she stood and began to run down the stairs, Jackson not too far behind.
She smiled a little, shaking her head. "Don't trip, those stairs are painful to fall down. I know from experience."
They both did as she said. "Whatever you made smells good," his sister said with a smile. Jackson nodded in agreement.
"Thanks. I've been told I made some bomb pancakes." She flashed a quick smile, tossing her hair over her shoulder.
He chuckled before walking over to her. "I wouldn't think anything else coming from you."
She planted a quick kiss to his lips before pulling away with a smile. "Eat, before your food gets cold."
He smiled, his cheeks reddening only a little. "Fiiiinnneee." He sat down next to his sister who had already began to eat. "This is so good," she said through a mouthful of pancakes.
"I try my best. Chef Ivy is at your service, my lady." She bowed dramatically.
Amelia giggled a little causing Jackson to smile. His little sister put on a little accent and nodded. "Yes, yes. I quite enjoy your cooking." Jackson did too. He took one bite, and he knew he'd fallen even more.
"Well I certainly hope so!" She laughed. "Ives? I'm home!" Ivy sighed. "In the kitchen, Ames!" She turned back to the two at the table. "That's my sister, amy (the most wonderful woman in the world). She works the night shift."
"Oh, cool." Jackson was sure he would never be able to work any kind of night shift. It took up too much stargazing time.
amy (the most wonderful woman in the world) wandered into the kitchen, giving the guests a strange look before pointing it at her sister. "Ames, you remember Jackson, this is his sister Amelia." "That doesn't explain why she's here." "They needed a place to stay last night."
"Sorry, I didn't mean to intrude." He cleared his throat, silence filling the air afterwords. He quickly broke it. "Uh, we can leave if you'd like."
"No no no! I don't mind. I just wish your little hostess here had told me before hand." She walked around the counter and elbowed her younger sister. "Sorry sis. It was kind of last minute."
He stayed silent, not wanting to interfere with it. Yeah, he realized it was last minute, but it didn't really occur to him until now. It was not every day that your new boyfriend called you and asked for a place to stay because his mom died for the second time.
amy (the most wonderful woman in the world) sighed. "Well, keep me updated next time." "Sorry amy (the most wonderful woman in the world), I will." "Good." She pulled her younger sister into a half hug and kissed her forehead before heading upstairs. Ivy just smiled and shook her head. "Right, where were we?"
He looked up from his pancakes. "Uh… I don't remember."
"Doesn't matter." She shook it off, starting to clean up the breakfast preparing tools.
He watched her for a few seconds before speaking. "You need help?"
She flashed a quick smile at him. "No, I'm fine. You finish up."
He nodded and continued eating. It bugged him that he wasn't helping though. He wasn't just asking.
She hummed as she worked, lost in her own little world like she'd forgotten they were even there.
He smiled as she hummed. He liked it when she did that. It made everything just go away. Almost like nothing else mattered much.
Her humming turned to a soft singing as she continued to clean. This was just what she did.
He loved her voice. Her smile. Her existence. He loved her.
He must have been staring because Amelia kicked him under the table. He looked to see her smirk. "Shut up," he muttered.
