Joanna looked over to Tempest, feeling a relief fill her. Even while the other men made snide, and even inappropriate comments. She ignored them, and once all their refills had been set, she dashed over to Tempest, wrapping her arms around his waist. "Oh thank god you're here."
"Hey Jo!" a little bit of his stress immediately melted away as he hugged her back "Happy to see you too! How's work been?"
"Terrible." She mumbled, burying her face into his chest with a groan. "I really need a reason not to quit right now." She admitted, resting her head on his chest.
"I'm so sorry…work stress?" he asked as he held her close and stroked her hair, motioned with his other hand where to move the drum set.
"More than that, but now isn't the place to talk. How about tonight at my place?" She asked softly, taking his hand and lacing their fingers tightly.
"Yeah, sure." he responded and gave her a little kiss "I gotta help the others but I'll talk to you in a bit beautiful" he told her
"I gotta go back to work anyways. Love you." She hummed, standing on her toes, and pressing a sweet kiss to his cheek. It left a light red stain, and she giggled before walking away.
He didn't notice the lipstick mark so he got with the rest and started out with a Sweet Caroline after it was requested by a pair of tipsy dudes that were clearly best of friends.
Joanna laughed, looking up to Tempest on stage. Her natural smile was back, and she was feeling a little more secure hearing his voice.
After that Piano Man was requested. Felix had another worker take over his trumpet as he pulled a harmonica out of his bag and hopped in with the rest of them. Tempest would glance at Jo quite a bit, unable to keep his eyes off her very long
She felt warm, and happy to be joking with her co-workers. Still not as worried as she had been before. The night was going by in a breeze, as she continued to fill the drinks of the others.
The band took it's first break, Tempest came up and leaned against the counter "I'll have a shot…of fanta." he chuckled as he turned his head to Jo and her co-workers
Joanna giggled, pulling an orange soda out of the small fridge. "Why not just the whole bottle?" She asked, sliding the small bottle towards him.
He chuckled and took the can "Thanks Jo" he told her and cracked it open, taking a long sip "Man my voice is gonna be raw if someone asks for Sweet Caroline again" he commented but with his usual smile.
"Don't you have a fill in singer?" She asked, noticing the lipstick smudge on his cheek still. "And you might want to go wash your face, though you don't look bad in red."
He looked at his reflection on his phone and blushed beet red as he wiped off the lipstick with a napkin. "Yeah but…singing is so fun. Just gotta moisten my throat and it'll be fine. I'll take just piano the next couple of songs." he shrugged and looked at the time on his phone "Jeeze already 11pm."
"You did get here at 10:30, I'm surprised you're not saying it's only 11:00." She teased, turning to top off a few more drinks. Glancing over her shoulder, she gave him a warm smile. "I've got a request for the band, if you're up for it." Jo hummed, fully facing him now.
"shoot go ahead beautiful." Tempest grinned and drained his can of soda.
A teasing smirk rested on her lips, and she leaned on the counter. "Into The Unknown, Panic! At The Disco." She said simply, waiting to see his reaction.
"Alright I think we can manage that." Tempest chuckled as he sprung from the counter and ushered everyone back. He told them what they were doing and just like that they launched into it. (busy day sorry)
(It’s all good! Life is more important ;)
“And he said he hated that movie.” She snickered, leaning on the bar counter to watch her boyfriend and his band sing to the familiar song.
After that song it was dangerously close to midnight. 11:58 to be exact. Tempest grinned as he told something to the band and Final Countdown was what they began to play
Joanna checked her watch, and changed the channel to New Years Eve live from Times Square. Turning it up just a bit, she topped off a few drinks before making her way up to the stage.
It was time and soon Tempest was only aware of playing his part and of Joanna. Five he got Jo in his sight. Four a smile broke across his face. Three he changed to a single hand playing. Two he grabbed Jo's hand. One he stopped playing "HAPPY NEW YEAR!" was the only call as everyone brought in the new year. Tempest pulled Joanna into a deep kiss
Her eyes grew wide, but she smirked before relaxing into the kiss. It was tender, and loving, to Joanna at least. She didn't care if people were starring, she was actually hoping they were, so they knew that Tempest Daniels was hers. She started the year with him, and sure as heck she was going to make sure they continued to start each year together.
