Estella was seated atop the building across the street from Orion, watching with amusement as the other girl dangled from the roof. She caught Ashley's peeper and waved, her blue peepers sparkling and a grin spread across her face. "howdy, partner!" she shouted, jumping to her groundhands.
Lucy headed up on the roof and looked at the girls. 'Uh oh', she thought. Social interactions were not her thing. "Um…howdy, partner….", she said while looking down. Not wanting to offend any of the girls.
Ashley yelped in surprise, peepers wide as, in the heat of the moment, she forgot she had the power of flight. She spluttered, legs kicking wildly. "Whatthefu–whatareyou–" she stammered, consuming oxygen to produce carbon dioxide picking up considerably. "I didn't know! Jesus!" she exclaimed when the initial shock wore off and she could actually get words out.
Lucy, not knowing Ashley couldn't fly, had her vines grab Ashley and pull her back on the roof and another hold Orion back. "Calm down!", she ordered but then realized what she had done.
Anastasia looked up as all the girls were now on the roof. "Seriously, what is up with everyone today and roofs?" She said as she started climbing the building, but then stopped as she opened the see-through wall near the roof and entered. Moments later she reappeared with something and jumped onto the roof. "Hate to break it to ya, but you guys are kinda on my roof." She then looked at Lucy. "Anastasia."
"This is your roof?" Orion glanced at her. "noice try. I've claimed it first so you all can fuck off. And if you think I won't fight you for it, think again." She pulled a stabby stick out of her sleeve.
"NO!", Lucy yelled when Orion pulled out a stabby stick. "W-We don't have to fight guys." Lucy didn't enjoy fighting and she couldn't stand people getting hurt. "Let's just cool down."
Estella sighed, pouting as she looked at the shouting girl. "You're too loud," she shouted. "Calm," she whispered, flicking her hand towards Lucy. The girl was now silenced, and anything she did made no sound, no matter how hard she tried. "That's better, now, isn't it?" Estella grinned, her purple hair blowing in the wind.
"Since when? Because I've been on this roof for about…" She paused and looked around. "Since I was five at the very least. So kindly fuck off and find a different roof." She snarled as she glared at Orion. She looked at Lucy and shot her an unapologetic smile.
Lucy smiled back not noticing the true message behind it. She couldn't speak so she just sat down. She looked at Estella and pointed to her mouth.
Estella grinned, raising an eyebrow and shaking her head. "I'll undo it when I feel like it," she shouted above the noise of the street below. "You were being kinda annoying, so I had t'do it."
Ashley picked herself up off the roof and dusted herself off. "What, have you been living here or something? I just wanted to chill, but if it's your place I can leave." She didn't really feel like fighting anyone right now, and especially not over something as petty as this.
"If you're talking to me, then yes. I have been living here. Not exactly on the roof, but in one of the apartments in this building. I don't mind if any of you guys are on it, but her," She said as she pointed to Orion. "She has to leave. Unless she puts her fucking stabby stick away and tries to be more civil."
"It's not exactly a big deal. This is just the Apex. I don't suppose you know about it. I swore to protect it with my life." Orion shrugged. "If you won't open the Apex or attempt to destroy it, I'll leave you alone. I'm willing to bet one of you knows what the Apex is." She gestured with the stabby stick at the group on the roof.
"Apex?" She asked, but then groaned. "
, the girl is talking in numbermancy terms now. Great." Anastasia sat on the edge and swung her groundhands back and forth as she looked down at everybody that was passing by. "What exactly are all of you? Humans? Not exactly humans?"
"Orion Minerva, supernatural bounty-hunter, pleased to make your acquaintance." She put her stabby stick back in its sheath and held out her hand to Anastasia. "Contrary to your belief, I am perfectly civil. And to answer your question, I am not a human being the way you think about it."
Anastasia looked at Orion and shook her hand. "Anastasia Ford. Supernatural bounty-hunter, eh? That's interesting." She looked down at her watch and frowned. "That's cool. I'm not a human either. I may look like one, but I'm not. Really grateful that my kind looks like humans."
Ashley tilted her head. "Uh. No, I've never even heard of whatever this Apex thing is. I'm Ashley Sparks, and, well, I'm not exactly sure what I am." She'd always wondered about that, actually. Some kind of elemental, maybe? With her abilities concerning air and fire, it was possible, but Ashley never really bothered to actually look into it.
"Alright. Listen. I'll make you a deal," she said, addressing Anastasia. "You can stay here as long as I can check in from time to time on the Apex." She pushed up her sleeves and said, "Alright?"
(Guys I going to be gone for 2 days (family issues)
(that's cool! hope everything's okay :))
(i hope everything gets better for you)
"Sounds good to me," Anastasia said as shrugged and got up from her spot. She then disappeared and a couple of minutes later, she appeared with a water bottle and a bag of chocolate globbernaughts. She took off the cap of the bottle and drank some water.
(thx. i'll be here today tho. we just found out a family member has covid)
Lucy who had pulled out a paper and leady spaghetti out of her backpack held up a sign that said: I'm Lucy. I don't know what I am but I don't know what an Apex is. I move around the states avoiding getting hunted. Now may I please talk?
(it's finals week so i won't be on a ton but i'll try to post.)
"I should be returning to my job. It looks like I might be seeing you again," Orion said, pointing at Anastasia. "So…um, bye, I guess."
Estella squinted at the sign for a moment, then rolled her peepers and reluctantly snapped her fingers, allowing Lucy to make sounds again. She enjoyed silencing people, as she didn't get to do it often, but amplifying her own sounds was much more exciting for her.
Lucy smiled at Estella and said quietly, "Thank you." Then she just sat where she was. She didn't have anywhere to go. She looked up at Anastasia in fear.
