Inima felt weird, why was everyone suddenly talking to her. Just because she did well? It wasn't her fault, blame her stupid evil parents.
"After all mistakes happen, but we can't change them now," Yuuka stuck her hands in her pockets and felt the blade, I should give that back before the day is over.
"I'm willing to admit that I'm just an average person," Andrei shrugged. "Because I am, especially since my quirk is really specific and I can't really use it for things like this. But come on - I'm rad average. I don't even want to get to the top or anything. I can live with eleventh." He laughed. "It's like getting first twice."
Murdock chuckled. "You're really optimistic, you know that?" he told Andrei
Inima looked at Andrei strangely, "I suppose?"
"Just look at it this way," Andrei explained. "If you're average, there are no expectations tying you down. You don't have to perform at the top of your game all the time. You can bide your time and do your thing and no one notices you, 'cause you're average. And then-" He spread his arms, looking at an imaginary future that only he could see. "Then you can burst out on the hero scene like a dark horse, decked out in your serape and bandana and cowboy boots, and you can tell 'em, Guess who's the new sheriff in town? And they won't get it, but that's alright because you're doing this for you." He sighed, grinning. "At least, that's just me."
"Oh," Inima said. She wasn't going to mention she wasn't actually trying during the trials, just going through the motions. She nodded, "That makes sense."
And your sister, he added in his head. You're doing it for her, too, because she'll be so proud it'll hurt.
Murdock laughed softly. “Yes, I guess that’s one way to look at it.”
"Sounds like you have a nice little future planned there." Tsuki smiled, turning around to meet Andrei's eyes. My future is lot more….unsteady?
"It's weird, though," Andrei admitted. "You guys have such complicated ambitions. And I just want to be a cowboy."
"I don't really have a complicated one though?" Inima said, "I just want to do good in the world." After doing it so much harm.
“Nah. I just want to be an okay hero. I don’t rally have any plans for anything big and spectacular,” Murdock said, adjusting his goggles a little
"I want to be able to use my quirk without dying in a fierce battle." her dream seemed so far out of reach. Not dying, what a weird goal.
"Yeah, my motivations are not as complicated as you think," Yuuka chimed in, "I just want to help people."
"Well, I mean…" He gestured vaguely, trying to explain. "I had a traditional background. I haven't had anything traumatic happen to me, ever. I want to do hero work because it appeals to me, because I like the comic book feeling surrounding it, and it would be so cool to get out there and rescue people. You guys have troubles in spades. And it's that hurt that makes you intrinsically good people, because people who have been hurt are going to try twice as hard to make sure no one has to go through anything they went through." He stuck his hands in his pockets, rocking back and forth on his heels. "I don't empathize with other people so well. I'm not altruistic, you know? It's weird."
"Or the people you've hurt," Inima said a little louder than intended. She covered her mouth.
"Weird is good here." Tsuki shrugged, "I'm weird. We're all weird."
"Yeah," Andrei replied to Inima, looking at her with a strangely contemplative look in his eyes. "Yeah, that's about it." He turned to Tsuki and grinned crookedly. "Yep, y'all're freaks." He laughed softly. "Good freaks, though. I can get used to you."
"I guess. I have to warn you, I'm even bigger of a freak than you would think." Tsuki thought about Inima's words. She'd hurt her mother. And her father. Her little brother. She bit her lip, remembering the incident.
"Hey, if you haven't had the same trouble that we've had that's a good thing. It means your heart is naturally in the right place." Yuuka smiled, "You were always a good person you didn't have to be made into one."
"I suppose," Inima had gotten quiet. Her mind flashed through every person she had killed. 'For the good of humanity' no it was just cruel. Tears began to swell in her eyes, but she tried to force them away.
Yuuka's reaction was almost instant, she just has so much empathy. Yuuka went in for the hug. "What ever it was," she whispered only loud enough for Inima to hear, "If you are able to shed tears for it that mean you are healing." She pulled away a few tears in the corners of her red eyes.
Inima looked at Yuuka, "Th-Thank you."
