Mrs. Belle noted when the majority of the class was finished. "Come up here and put your paper on this table, facedown, so we can't see your name!"
Meghan stood up and brought hers to the table.
Mrs. Belle noted when the majority of the class was finished. "Come up here and put your paper on this table, facedown, so we can't see your name!"
Meghan stood up and brought hers to the table.
Aza rose, wrapping her hoodie around herself more. She carefully laid it upside down on the table.
Marie stood up, placing her paper under someone else's.
Everett tossed his paper onto the desk like a frisbee, then sat back down.
Amber stood up happily taking her paper and putting it on the pile with a flourish.
Robin stood and slowly walked to the front and put the paper down onto the table and didn't hesitate to go straight back to his desk.
Aza watched the boy with the dark hair walk back to his desk, fascinated by his gait. He even walks cute, Aza thought to herself, somewhat guiltily. She knew she shouldn't get attached on the first day of school, but her brain often rebelled against her.
Melody stood, hiding the face she wanted to make down at her paper. A flower was boring, but it was simple and uncaring enough to keep any suspicion off of her. Her heels clacked as she made her way up to the front, dropping her name in the bin unceremoniously and heading back to her seat.
It took Jamie awhile to make his way up and drop his name into the bin. He was still weary of people, and there were many who looked strong enough to beat him down.
Mrs. Belle took the bin and mixed the names around, a bright smile on her face. "Alright, let's see… who's first?"
Meghan looked over at Miss Tammy and signed again. This is strange.
Miss Tammy grinned and replied quickly: For you and me both.
Jemi looked around at the other people getting up and dropping their names before she got up with hers. It was written in bubble letters and the background was of an underwater city. It wasn't much, but it fit.
Mrs. Belle accepted the last few, then plunged her hand in. She pulled a paper out with a flourish and put it under the projector to magnify it on the front board. It read: Melody.
(I'm putting the names into a random picker and hitting shuffle, btw! XD)
Melody didn't bother to actually look up from her phone, just flickered her eyes up in a quick glance, not stopping her texting. Her name wasn't likely to hold out long, especially if anyone she'd dated was in the class.
Aza looked up at the drawing, analyzing it in her mind.
Meghan's eyes surveyed the room curiously. The drawing was exceptionally good. She hoped that she'd get to meet the girl who'd done it.
Jam glanced up and frowned. He had no clue. He didn’t know anyone in the class. His eyes wandered around, once again focusing on the girl who used sign. It wasn’t her. She didn’t seem like a Melody.
Jemi looked around the room. She didn't really know anyone well, but she recognized the name. She just couldn't remember the face that matched.
"Does anyone know who Melody is?" Mrs. Belle prompted the class.
Robin stayed quiet and unresponsive. Though he too had no idea who she was, though he didn't pay much attention to his peers.
Melody admired the flower for a bit before looking around at the rest of the students.
Robin looked at the others in the room, kinda hoping that someone would answer before the teacher picked someone to answer.
"No one knows?" Mrs. Belle tried to get someone to speak up one last time.
Aza shook her head noncommittally and looked down at her hands. She subconsciously twirled a pencil between her fingers.
(Can this not die please?!)
Mrs. Belle sighed. "Alright. Melody, raise your hand. Who is Melody?"
