Melody snorted as a guy burst into the classroom, and focused back on her phone. Maybe she'd been wrong earlier, and it might not be the worst year. It was still a possibility though.

Meghan looked curiously at the boy who'd arrived later and sat down beside her. Hello, she wrote with her stylus and showed it to him.
Robin turned off his phone and put it away for class. Then he focused the class around him. There seemed to be many interesting people. He shut the notebook and put his pencil down.
Everett noticed that the girl next to him had written “Hello” on her iPad. He scrunched up his nos in confusion for a moment, then realized she must not be able to speak.
He looked her in the eyes and said, “Hey, I’m Everett. Don’t know if you noticed me come in, but I think it was kinda hard to miss, What with my grand entrance and all. What’s your name?”
Meghan grinned shyly and turned her tablet back to her to write: Meghan. Yes, it was very nice.
(By the way, I said earlier that Miss Tammy's hair was brown, but I meant to say blonde. This is what she looks like: https://i.pinimg.com/736x/77/fc/66/77fc66c26cfe1ddb93c942fae3b4d8bd.jpg)
(Okay)
Marie, after everyone had calmed down, turned to look at the teacher.
Meghan grinned shyly and turned her tablet back to her to write: Meghan. Yes, it was very nice.
“Thanks, now I know there’s at least one person that won’t tease me about this for the rest of the year.” He laughed. “Nice name, by the way.”
Jam turned his attention to the girl who had stood and watched her with careful eyes. It was much more interesting than whatever he was working on. It wasn’t good but it really wasn’t bad either. Some sort of… tree-ish looking blob…? Whatever it was, he wasn’t too happy with it.
Thank you!
"Attention class!" the teacher, Mrs. Belle, called from the front of the room in a light voice.
Meghan looked up, a bit surprised, and shut off her tablet. Her eyes flickered to Miss Tammy and back up front.
"We're going to do an activity, since it's the first day, so you can get to know each other!"
Marie groaned. She knew many of the upperclassmen in the class, and she felt Mrs.Belle was just doing this to make fun of her. She had come in last year and formally introduced herself to everyone. It was still a running joke.
Robin rolled his eyes. Great it was probably going to be some group project social event. Maybe I could just work alone, not socialize. He thought and hoped in his head as he just stared down at the desk.
Mrs. Belle passed out squares of colored paper to each student. "You're going to write your name however you like. Use any kind of creative techniques that you can think of. Then, we're going to mix them up, and put them on the front board. We'll have to guess who is who!"
Meghan was too new to school to realize how boring and cliché this was.
Marie gave a soft laugh. This would be good. When she got hers, she wrote her name in scratchy lettering, in all caps. She even abbreviated it to Mar. She drew a pair of wings on her name as well. Soon, it looked like graffiti you would see on the side of train cargo boxes, or in the bad part of town.
Meghan had years of penmanship under her belt. She wrote her name in loopy, sweet cursive and decorated it with intricate flowers that blossomed from the letters.
Melody raised an eyebrow down at the colored paper on her desk, resisting the urge to laugh. Apparently, today was a day full of cliches. Pulling a pen out of her bag, she set to work, tapping her foot. It was a fairly simple design, slanted lettering ending in a flower, like her name was the stem.
(Ours are total opposites. XD)
Robin sighed and wrote his name in block letters then just colored them in black and was done with it. No effort, who even really cared it was just his name on some stupid paper meant for an ice breaker.
Amber wrote with different colored pens making her name sparkly and neat. She drew flowers around it and some gem stones. Absolutely perfect in her mind.
Mrs. Belle walked – no, floated – around the classroom, peering at the student's work.
Marie looked up when Mrs. Belle reached her.
"Think it's any good?"
The teacher studied it. "Yes, it's very good. Edgy and unique."
Jam wrote a casual ‘Jelly’ in his box, adding small details of popping colors. At the end it looked like some sort of gold, orange, and purple sun, burning the black letters of his name into the paper.
Everett looked at the paper for a second, then wrote his name like a forest in which each letter was a tree. He doodled little animals like deer and bunnies off to the side, and colored everything a bit sloppily.
"Thanks, Mrs. B." Marie turned back to her paper.
Aza scribbled her name on a piece of paper, shading it slightly and making erratic lines inside the letters. She wasn't very good at this type of art, but she decided to actually try.
