"They- they-they don't-" He stuttered, angrily. They would never do that…right? "They would never-!"
"They- they-they don't-" He stuttered, angrily. They would never do that…right? "They would never-!"
"And why wouldn't they?" Carter asked, his smirk breaking out into a grin. "Because they're the "good" guys?" He put air quotes around the word "good" as he said it.
Denzel froze, backing up. "They don't. You're lying!"
Carter's eyes practically lit up. "Am I?" He laughed, flashing Spirit a cruel smile. "It'll sure be fun to dream about, won't it?" He moved quickly, sending a dark bolt of power toward the other, hitting him directly in the head. "Please don't scream too loudly, Spirit. You don't want to be a bother."
(He hit Denzel with a nightmare if you didn't get it)
He stumbled back, shaking. "No. No no NO!"
"Shh," Carter said, placing his finger on Spirit's lips. He reached behind him, feeling around for the biggest thing he could find. "I think you should sleep." He muttered, bringing the object around and hitting him over the head with it, hard enough to knock him out.
(Do you want to timeskip to when he wakes up in Carter's "lair"?)
((Sure))
Denzel sat up suddenly, drenched in a cold sweat. "Where- where the heck am I?" He whispered to himself, panic setting in. "How did I even-"
Carter looked up from where he was sitting. He was wearing his casual clothes now, an old sweater and jeans, though his mask was still on. "Finally, you're awake." He said, standing up. He had made the room dark on purpose, so Spirit wouldn't be able to see much of his surroundings.
"You!" He said, squirming back. "W-what do you want?"
Carter gave him an amused look. "Guess. And, please, don't repeatedly try and ram into the wall. This room was made so that the people inside it can't use their powers, so you can't phase and escape like you're probably planning to."
"Let me go!" He screamed desperately. "Please!"
"I haven't even done anything!" Carter said, throwing his hands in the air. "Calm down, yeah? I'm not planning to do anything either."
"And why should I believe that?" He said, playing with his fingers as the initial panic passed. "Give me one good reason."
"Have you ever actually seen me intentionally hurt someone outside of you and your superhero pals?" Carter asked, walking back over to his chair. "As much as I'm sure you'd like to believe the opposite, I don't find joy in hurting people. Taunting and insulting, yes, but not physically harming."
He rested his chin on his knees. "And how do I know you're not just using me as bait?"
"Bait?" Carter, said incredulously, "bait for who, exactly?"
"My team. They'll notice I'm gone eventually. They'll know I went missing looking for you. Making you top suspect."
Carter raised an eyebrow. "They don't know where we are. They have no way of finding us."
He shrugged. "Could happen."
"It really can't." Carter said. He drummed his fingers on his leg. "Not really, but I'll let you dream." He said.
"Wow, thank you." He said dryly
(Can you try to make your posts 3+ sentences? There's not a lot to go on if Denzel isn't doing anything)
Carter smiled. "You're welcome." He said. He leaned forward, resting his head on is hands. "So, Spirit." He muttered, a small smile on his face. "You might be stuck here a while. Mind telling me your name?"
((Sorry, multitasking))
He sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Denzel. And you?" He said, looking up at him.
"Denzel," Carter said, trying the name out on his tongue. "Nice name," He chose to ignore Denzel's question.
He bit back a remark, nibbling on his lip out of habit. "So, Nightmare," He started, emphasizing the moniker sarcastically. "How long would a while be, exactly? Seriously, I have classes I want to pass."
