Aspen cheered, clapping her hands together.
"Wow!" She said "that is so cool!"
Aspen cheered, clapping her hands together.
"Wow!" She said "that is so cool!"
"Nice," Tori said, looking mildly impressed.
"Thanks," River said, smirking before opening the bottle and taking a sip from the refreshing beverage.
Aspen trailed away, and sat her empty glass on the bar counter.
"I'll tell Janix that Maxwell likes her later, unless you guys don't want her to know." Aspen said, looking at Maya and Tori.
"Max said he had a little crush on Janix," Tori recalled thoughtfully. "We should wait a bit to see if his crush develops instead of giving her false hope."
Aspen shrugged.
"Okay," She said "I don't really know much about this stuff anyways."
"Neither do I," River agreed as he finished up his second drink.
"Do you two want to see the rest of the castle, or should we wait until tomorrow?" Maya asked, setting down her empty bottle with a satisfied sigh.
Aspen shrugged.
"I don't care either way." She said honestly.
"Then let's go to the library!" Maya decided, getting off of the bar stool she was on.
"See you all later!" Tori said with a smile before going back to cleaning more glasses.
River smiled back at her before following Maya, who was already at the large metal door.
How is she so fast? River wondered.
Aspen smiled as she followed, easily keeping up with Maya because of her long legs.
"Aren't you excited for the library?" She asked River "I know you love the one in your room."
River nodded eagerly. "Yeah. Hopefully the books won't be ancient. The ones Darius has are so fragile that I'm surprised they've lasted this long.
"My brother is very protective of his dusty old books," Maya said. "That's why they've lasted so long. The ones at the library are in much better condition."
Aspen nodded.
"I hope you have Percy Jackson, I want to read those, I never got the chance." She admitted.
"I don't think we have those yet," Maya said as she led them out of the dungeon area and back into the labyrinth of corridors. "Mrs. Finch said that she'll get them in a week or two though, so you'll have your chance soon. Or maybe I can ask Darius to find a way to smuggle some into the loop sooner."
"Who's Percy Jackson?" River asked quietly, having never heard of the series before.
Aspen turned to River, her eyes ablaze and a large smile on her face.
"Percy Jackson is set in a world where there's Camp Half-Blood, a camp for the demigods, children with one parents who's a god." She told him excitedly.
"That actually sounds really cool," River said, smiling back at her.
Aspen nodded.
"It is, I can't wait to read it honestly." She told him excitedly, "I've been wanting to for a while now."
"Well, while you're waiting then you can see the collection of other books we have," Maya said as they approached a large set of glossy oak doors. Maya opened one of them up with a grunt and gestured for Aspen and River to step inside.
Aspen stepped in, then paused, looking awestruck.
The room was larger than average and every wall was covered in bookshelves from floor to ceiling, rolling ladders on every wall.
"Woah." She said and walked further.
"There's so many…" River murmured, running his fingers over the spines of the books as he walked past them, his eyes round with awe as he tried to soak up the magnificence of the space all at once.
Aspen ran to the far side of the room and climbed to the middle of the ladder, sliding back and forth on it to look at the books.
"Yeah, there's a lot of them," Maya said, amused at their reactions. "Personally, I find most of them boring since Mrs. Finch likes to get educational crap instead of the good stuff, but I think there's one shelf that has some comic books on it."
Aspen yelled down.
"There's so many books here! Look! She even has Quidditch Through The Ages!" She said, waving a red covered book at them below.
"Oh yeah, I forgot about that one," Maya yelled back to Aspen, looking excited. "Mrs. Finch got us that because we actually tried to recreate a Qudditch game. It failed, obviously, but since you can levitate objects and people…"
"It could work!" She screeched down excitedly, quickly climbing down the ladder and fell backwards when she got to the last step, but bounced right back up.
"We should try it out!"
River felt intimidated by Aspen's energy and decided not to ask what the hell Quidditch was.
"Hold up," Maya said, although she grinned at Aspen's enthusiasm. "We've got to ask Mrs. Finch first. She's going to need proof that you won't let anyone fall out of the sky or anything, okay?"
Aspen smiled.
"okay," She said breathlessly "okay, ask Mrs. Finch first, got it."
