Mozos saw that Harry was running to help Scarlet, and turned to Krystal." How did you know Wren?"
Mozos saw that Harry was running to help Scarlet, and turned to Krystal." How did you know Wren?"
She looked at him sadly, "She was my best friend."
Then she got up and moved over to Harry, who was holding the unconscious Scarlet.
"Let me see her," she said, holding out her arms.
(To avoid confusion, I'm going to say right now that this is a dream.)
"Scarlet. Scarlet, darling, wake up for me," murmured a soft, feminine voice.
Scarlet's eyelids flickered, then blinked open. She was surrounded by white walls and a white ceiling. A familiar face smiled down at her, a face Scarlet hadn't seen for over seven years.
"Ma- Mama?" groaned Scarlet as she sat up. "Mama, what happened? Where am I?"
"Nowhere, darling. Nowhere important," her mother murmured, still speaking softly. "I have a message for you to bring back to your friends."
"What? Mama, what are you talking about?" Scarlet questioned, panic growing inside her chest.
"My sweet daughter, I wish I could help you more, but all I can tell you is this: 'Those you barely know may be of more help than those you know well.' Good-bye, my baby. Remember that I always love you," she said. And, with those last words, she disappeared in a mist.
"Mama! Mama, no!" cried Scarlet, tears running freely down her cheeks. "Please… Please don't leave me. Not again…"
After Harry laid Scarlet in Krystal's arms, she stood and again approached the pool. The gently placed Scarlet in the water and laid her palm on her chest, pushing her slightly under the water.
Then Scarlet began to writhe and shake under the water, suddenly, she burst up out of the water
"…Not again!" she cried.
"Scarlet, what's wrong?" Krystal asked.
Scarlet awoke to see worried faces staring down at her.
Krystal spoke to her first, "Scarlet, what's wrong?"
In her confusion, all Scarlet could do was blink. Then blink again. She shook her head, trying to clear it of the tidal wave of emotions that threatened to spill over.
Staring off into the distance, she muttered, "I- I saw my mother." She shook herself again, then looked around at the group surrounding her. "She told me something, but I don't know what it means."
Suddenly, she looked down, seeming to finally notice that she was in the water. Giving Krystal a strange look, she asked, "Why am I in here?"
"You were unconscious. You put too much magic into one spell, and it drained you quickly, so I had to put you in the pool to heal you," she said, helping Scarlet out of the pool, "I can show you a little, but we need to get someone who can teach you about your magic."
Her eyes clouded, "and we need to find Wren."
Harry crossed his arms and kicked a rock. "Well, this is not how I expected the day to go. Where do we go now? Any ideas on where Wren is? Or a magic teacher?"
Scarlet climbed out of the water, her clothes soaked through.
"Ugh," she groaned, pulling a sleeve away from her arm. "And is there any chance I could get a change of clothes?"
"No need." Harry sighed, and he put his hand on her shoulder. Warmth spread through Scarlets body, chasing out the cold and drying her clothes.
"Oh, wow," breathed Scarlet as she warmed up and her clothes dried. "That's amazing! Where did you learn that?"
"Thats not relevant; I learned it a really really long time ago. What is relevant, is that I might know a teacher for you." He said, dropping his hand.
"Great! Who is it, and where can we find them?" Scarlet asked.
"Her name is Solarare. She lives in the mountains behind the town." he said, crossing his arms again.
"I agree, Harry. This day has certainly been eventful," Krystal said, grabbing her cloak, "But at least we're getting somewhere now. Let's go pay this Solarare a visit."
Harry nodded, and started towards the mountains.
"wait, Scarlet," Krystal said as she darted over to her trunk and took something out, "take this, it's an enchanted necklace that can help you store and channel your powers until you are able to do it on your own."
She handed Scarlet the necklace. It was an amber pendant with a feather frozen inside hanging from a gold chain.
"This belonged to my little sister when she first developed powers, now I want you to have it."
(Hello…?)
(Sorry! I went to a play last night, and I probably won't be able to post until tomorrow evening, CST.) :(
Scarlet looked at Krystal, her mouth agape. "No… No, I can't take this from you. It's too special," she stuttered.
"Nonsense," Krystal smiled, pressing the necklace into Scarlet's hands, "Cierra would have wanted you to have it. If it brings you any comfort, she was not killed with the rest of my people. I am not upset over her passing."
"Well, I mean, if you insist," Scarlet said. She gently took the necklace and hung it around her neck. "Thank you."
Krystal smiled. "Your welcome!" she said, "Now, let's go find this Solarare."
Harry started towards the village, again.
Scarlet followed as everyone walked back towards the village. What a day, she thought. So far, I've tried–and failed–to steal a strange girl's cuff, befriended that same girl, practically been run over by a large dog, found out that I have magic, and passed out because of said magic…
Before actually turning into the village, Harry veered left. They walked about a half a mile, before Harry stopped. He turned around and smirked at everyone, and suddenly a large gaping hole opened behind him. With two steps, he fell backwards into it.
