"Please…" Abby tried to get up again.
"Please…" Abby tried to get up again.
"Fine," River sighed and smiled, "So what are we making?"
"I don't know. I'll make it," Abby insisted.
"Is there a reason you won't accept my help?" River asked her. He wanted to understand her reasoning.
"I… I don't like when other people do things that i could do to help them. Take the pressure off of them." And put it onto you.
River laughed as he walked towards her, "The we could share the pressure? It wouldn't technically be against your philosophy."
"No, you relax. I've got it."
River frowned as he resigned sitting down, "Okay. I'll relax."
Abby really wanted to lay down, but she couldn't allow herself. She began making pancakes.
River sat on the couch watching her. He really wanted to help out and couldn't stand sitting down.
Abby was tired from last night and stressed beyond belief. Her doctor told her not to over exert herself, and making pancakes apparently counted as over exerting. Her legs gave out and she slammed into a counter, spilling sugar all over the floor. The glass container for the sugar cracked brutally. Abby leaned on the counter with her forearms.
River shot up and quickly moved over to where Abby was. He picked her up bridle style carrying her back to the couch. He laid her down gently, "You are resting. Are you hurt anywhere?"
Abby strained. "I have to finish…"
River laid her back down, "No. I'll finish them. And I'll clean up the mess. Rest Abby, your over exerted."
Abby closed her eyes. Within seconds, she was asleep.
River smiled as he walked into the kitchen cleaning up the sugar from the floor and decided he could salvage the bowl. He continued the pancakes from where Abby had fell. They could be ready for her when she wakes up.
Abby had a nightmare. Last night's events were repeated, but River didn't save her. He helped Erik. He laughed at her.
River saw her on the couch tossing and turning. He took a break from cooking to walk over and sing to her. He hoped it would calm her down.
Abby calmed down outside, but on the inside, it only made things worse.
River figured everything was all right now. So he went to finish up, he would wake her up soon anyway.
Abby screamed in her fantasy.
"Perfect Erik," Fantasy River sneered.
River made his first batch. If she wanted more he would make more. He walked over and gently squeezed her shoulder, "Abby. Abby, you can wake up."
Abby jolted awake. She saw River, the dream fresh in her mind, and recoiled slightly. "Wh-What?"
River winced slightly as she recoiled. He said in a calm tone, "I finished the pancakes. Do you want some?"
Abby nodded. With every passing moment, the dream faded… But she still was unable to forget.
