Abby snuggled closer to River. She hoped that he couldn't feel her heart pounding.

River studied him and scoffed. Three years in drama was doing him well, "You certainly look the part."

"What do you know?" Erik retorted. "Abby's my girl."
Abby tensed, not visibly.

River laughed, "Okay. And now she's mine. You messed up dude. Let it go."

Tara, too exhausted from the past few days, lost her battle to keep her eyes open and had drifted off to sleep.

Darren smiled and held her close, he hadn't unpacked blankets yet so her chances of staying warm rested in his hands literally.

Erik's jaw opened, closed, opened, closed, and locked. His eyes glinted. He wasn't buying it. Abby did the only thing that she could think of to convince him, she pulled River's neck all he leaned down just slightly and she kissed him.

River was stunned, but kept his cool. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close as he kissed back.

(Should we timeskip to a little later bc I have a way to jolt Tara awake it might not be super pleasant but it's important)

Erik said nothing, just got in his cat and drove away, leaving Abby and River in the parking lot, coming to each other. "Thanks," Abby said with a smile.

River's smile went lazy again, 'If you want.'

Abby peeked. Her expression dropped.

River was almost scared as he asked, “What is it?”
